Labor Day Mattress Sales: What you need to know
Our sleep experts have been shopping all the Labor Day sales to bring you the best deals on mattresses

The Labor Day mattress sales have come to an end but if you missed out on a deal, you can still save on many of this year's best mattresses. We won't be updating this page with offers but if you bookmark our mattress sales hub, you can discover all the best sleep deals as they happen.
This Labor Day featured savings to rival the discounts of Memorial Day and we're now expecting a slight lull in sales until Black Friday gets going. However, as potential mattress tariffs mean we could seem some price increases before November, now is still a good time to shop.
And let's be honest; the Black Friday mattress sales will be here before you know it. We'll be keeping a close eye for mattress deals in what has historically been the best time of year to save.

Editor's Choice Labor Day mattress sales
1. DreamCloud Classic Hybrid Mattress (queen): $649 at DreamCloud
The DreamCloud Classic is our top-rated mattress in a box, a luxury-style hybrid that at just $649 for a queen is excellent value for money. Plus, right now every DreamCloud mattress comes with a free bedding bundle worth up to $599. It's our favorite Labor Day mattress sale and trust us, we looked at hundreds of mattress deals over the long weekend. We're in the midst of retesting the Classic for our DreamCloud mattress review and it's impressing us with its full-body support and soothing pressure relief, although the motion isolation is a slight weak point. While the DreamCloud Classic is always good value the free bedding bundle is a rare special offer, so snatch it up before it's gone.
Ideal for: Couples; people with back and hip pain
2. Saatva Classic Mattress (queen): was $2,139 now $1,739 at Saatva
The Saatva Classic is a luxury hotel-style innerspring mattress that suits nearly all sleep styles thanks to its customizable design and impressive support features. Our lead tester credited it with "[revolutionizing] her sleep" in our Saatva Classic Mattress review and with $400 off in the Saatva Labor Day mattress sale, a queen is just $1,739 (was $2,139.) And you get market-leading benefits as well, with a 365-night trial, lifetime warranty and free white glove delivery — a perk that can cost upwards of $200 from other brands.
Ideal for: All sleepers; back pain; luxury comfort
3. Helix Midnight Luxe Mattress (queen): was $2,398 now $1,751.09 at Helix
The Helix Midnight Luxe Mattress has been designed to provide luxury comfort for side sleepers and according to the testers in our Helix Midnight Luxe Mattress review, it more than delivers. In fact, our lead tester found the blend of plush cushioning and full-body support so good we could hardly convince her to let anyone else give it a try. Right now you can still save 27% using code TOMS27 but we suspect this deal will return to the standard 20% off Helix mattress sale shortly.
Ideal for: Side sleepers; back sleepers, couples
4. Zinus Green Tea Memory Foam 10" Mattress (queen): was $219 now $198 at Amazon
Need an affordable mattress in a hurry? The Zinus Green Tea is a low cost all-foam bed that delivers exceptional pressure relief and is perfect for a spare room. We have seen some price fluctuations in recent days and while this mattress is always a budget buy, we recommend shopping fast to score a lower price while it's still live.
Ideal for: Spare rooms, dorm rooms
5. Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud Mattress (queen): was $1,999 now $1,399.30 at Tempur-Pedic
The most affordable mattress in the Tempur-Pedic line-up, the Tempur-Cloud delivers plenty of that body-hugging comfort we've come to expect from a Tempur-Pedic bed. It doesn't have the level of luxury we'd want from the pricier Tempur-Pedic beds (and we found overheating to be an issue in our Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud mattress review) but with 30% off, it's the cheapest way to experience the unique Tempur-Pedic feel. For an even bigger discount and a full bed upgrade, you can save 40% on the Tempur-Cloud when you buy it with an Ease Adjustable Power base — a queen combo is $2,198.40 (was $2,998) at Tempur-Pedic. Be aware that while the 30% off deal is standard, the 40% combo sale is special for Labor Day and likely to end soon.
Ideal for: Side sleepers; back sleepers, couples
6. Westin Heavenly Bed Mattress (queen): was $2,495 now $1,996 at Shop Marriott
Since Westin proved visitors do prioritize sleep by introducing its Heavenly Bed, you can expect to find some of the world's greatest beds among the mattresses used in hotels. The Heavenly Bed still rates among the best, as our tester discovered when she got hands-on in a Westin Hotel — we highly recommend it to side sleepers. There's currently 20% off at Westin, reducing a king size to $2,276 from $2,845 (it's the bigger the better when it comes to hotel bed sizes.) We have seen up to 30% off before but since then Westin has revamped its store, so we can't predict if this mega deal will return.
Ideal for: Side sleepers, vacation-style sleep
7. Bear Original Mattress (queen): was $855 now $555.75 at Bear
Bear's affordable all-foam mattress was described as a "crowd pleaser" in our Bear Original mattress review — the medium-firm feel makes it a match for most sleep styles. Bear is known for its short-lived flash sales and the 40% off deal we saw over the weekend has already come to an end. But don't worry, you can still snag 35% off and a free bedding bundle. Although, once again, we doubt this saving will stick around for long.
Ideal for: Combi sleepers, couples
Best Labor Day memory foam mattress deals
1. NapQueen Margaret 8” Mattress (queen): was $209 now $159.99 at Walmart
Walmart’s Rollback offers continue rolling in with this mega deal on the NapQueen Margaret mattress. A twin is on sale for just $84.98 (was $149.99), an incredibly low price for an 8-inch mattress. You can also save over $100 on a king, now only $224 (was $329). The high-density memory foam features a charcoal infusion, which NapQueen claims can "absorb and neutralize odors." We doubt the charcoal has much of an impact (you'll need to keep up with your regular mattress cleaning) but the medium-firm feel should suit stomach sleepers and the low-cost bed is perfect for guest rooms.
Ideal for: Stomach sleepers, spare rooms
2. Zinus Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress (queen): was $219 now $198 at Amazon
The Zinus Green Tea Memory Foam is one of our favorite memory foam mattresses and it's ideal for bargain hunters looking to spruce up their guest room ahead of the holidays. In our Zinus Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress review, we awarded 3.5 out of five stars and after testing, we found this mattress was best suited for side sleepers; the softer foam cushions the shoulders and hips to soothe aches and pains. The deals are already ending on this one (the twin and full sizes are currently full price after being discounted last week) so don't hang around.
Ideal for: Side sleepers, bargain hunters
3. Lucid Memory Foam Mattress (queen): was $349 now $249.37 at Lucid
Lucid's budget mattress line-up is hugely popular so be aware we expect sizes to sell out in the Labor Day sale (some options are already gone.) Available in several firmness levels, we recommend the Plush feel for side sleepers and Firm for back and stomach sleepers (and the Medium Twin XL is a must for a dorm room.) The 25% off sale is unusually big from Lucid and as the deal was 20% off just a few days ago this is likely to be a flash saving — expect the offer to disappear sooner rather than later.
Ideal for: Guest rooms
4. Bear Original Mattress (queen): was $855 now $556 at Bear
A "crowd pleaser of a memory foam mattress," in our Bear Original Mattress review we found this affordable all-foam bed comfortable in most sleep positions. Plus, with excellent motion isolation, it's a good choice for couples (you won't feel your partner's restless movements.) Right now you can enjoy 35% off at Bear which isn't quite as good as the 40% sale we noted over the weekend but is better than the 30% offer we spotted a few weeks ago. Plus, you get a free bedding bundle. For a deal this good again, we suspect you'll be waiting until Black Friday.
Ideal for: Combi sleepers, couples
5. Nectar Premier Memory Foam Mattress (queen): $949 at Nectar
The best memory foam mattress we've tested, the Nectar Premier delivers that classic all-foam 'hug', balanced by a strong supportive core. In our Nectar Premier Memory Foam Mattress review, we described it as "affordable luxury for side sleepers" — $949 for a queen isn't cheap but the Premier has the indulgent feel of a pricier bed. If you're looking for something easier on the budget, try Nectar's flagship Classic Memory Foam Mattress, only $649 for a queen. Both come with a lifetime warranty and full year's trial and as these are standard savings in the Nectar mattress sale, we doubt this deal is going anywhere.
Ideal for: Couples; side sleepers; shoulder pain
6. Plank Firm Mattress (queen): was $1,332 now $905.76 at Brooklyn Bedding
The Plank Firm isn't your typical memory foam mattress — this super firm bed has almost no give and minimal cushioning. But what it does have is bucketloads of support, which is why we think its one of the best mattresses for stomach sleepers. And it's double-sided, a feature our lead tester found surprisingly useful in our Plank Firm mattress review. You can enjoy 30% off at Plank or follow our top tip and head to Brooklyn Bedding, where you can save 32% on the Plank with code TOMS32.
Ideal for: Stomach sleepers; back sleepers
7. Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud Mattress (queen): was $1,999 now $1,399.30 at Tempur-Pedic
In our Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud mattress review we praised the squishy, body-hugging feel of this memory foam mattress. And thanks to its use of Tempur Material (Tempur-Pedic's unique take on memory foam), it has a feel like no other mattress. With 30% off a queen is reduced to $1,399.30 (was $1,999) and if you can't see a sale, use code CLOUD30 to claim your discount. This is a standard Tempur-Pedic mattress sale but you can enjoy an unexpected 40% off the Tempur-Cloud when you buy it with an Ease Adjustable Power Base in a Labor Day flash sale. This is a great deal on a full bed upgrade and it's likely to disappear soon.
Ideal for: Side sleepers; back sleepers, couples
Best Labor Day hybrid mattress deals
1. Brooklyn Bedding Gel Hybrid Mattress (queen): was $298 now $268 at Walmart
We’re always on the hunt for good deals to enhance your sleep and we’ve had our eyes peeled for Brooklyn Bedding Mattresses sales this Labor Day. There are a few deals worth shopping from the brand (you'll find a handful in this guide) but for budget shoppers, the best saving might be the Gel Hybrid Mattress, on sale from $178 for a twin (was $206) at Walmart. You can also save over $200 on the king, now just $338 (was $599). We’ve tested affordable Brooklyn Bedding Mattresses and been impressed with their quality for the money, offering good comfort and support. If you’re looking for a solid budget mattress, Brooklyn Bedding is worth considering.
Ideal for: Guest rooms
2. Tulo Green Tea Hybrid 10" Medium Mattress (queen): was $769.99 now $299.99 at Mattress Firm
It can be hard to find a good quality hybrid mattress for less so we're loving this Tulo sale at Mattress Firm. With 61% off a queen is only $299.99 while for any last-minute dorm room shoppers, a twin XL is just $229.99 (was $599.99.) Hybrids tend to have a bit more bounce than their all-foam alternatives, which makes them easier to move around on. Reviews suggest it has a softer feel, making it a good choice for side sleepers who shift position in the night.
Ideal for: College dorms, side sleepers
3. Siena Premier Hybrid Mattress (queen): $424 at Siena
In our Siena Premier Hybrid Mattress review we described this bed as: "a serious contender to DreamCloud's budget throne" (take a look below to learn why that's such high praise.) It has excellent support but side sleepers might find it lacks cushioning (the DreamCloud is better in this regard.) With a queen only $424 at Siena — and a twin just $254 — this is a competitively priced hybrid. We don't predict any further price drops at Siena but we also don't expect any price rises, so you have more time to snag this saving.
Ideal for: Back sleepers; stomach sleepers
4. DreamCloud Classic Hybrid Mattress (queen): $649 at DreamCloud
With a medium-firm feel that suits nearly all sleep styles and a quilted cover delivering a touch of luxury, the DreamCloud is one of our top rated hybrid mattresses. It impressed every member of our team during our DreamCloud Mattress review — although the side sleepers on our team found it took a minute to break in. The current price of $649 is better than the usual DreamCloud mattress sale; a queen was $699 just a few weeks ago. DreamCloud has sweetened the deal by adding a free bedding bundle but we think this Labor Day special offer will be ending soon.
Ideal for: Couples; people with back and hip pain
5. Helix Midnight Luxe Mattress (queen): was $2,398 now $1,751.09 at Helix
The Midnight Luxe is the best mattress for side sleepers you can buy online, a luxury hybrid that has been designed and crafted specifically to meet the needs of side sleepers. In our Helix Midnight Luxe mattress review we praised how the deep cushioning of the Eurotop cradles the shoulder and hips to prevent pressure build-up (no numb arms) while the supportive base keeps the spine straight in both side and back sleeping positions. The Helix mattress sale has ramped up for Labor Day with 27% off using code TOMS27 — it's a big step up from the usual 20% off sale so shop now to avoid missing out.
Ideal for: Side sleepers; back sleepers, couples
6. Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Hybrid Mattress (queen): was $1,332 now $905.76 at Brooklyn Bedding
One of the best cooling mattresses we've tested, in our Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Hybrid Mattress review we praised this beds luxury finish and plush cushioning, plus a cool to the touch feel. Even with chilly weather on the horizon, the CopperFlex is still a smart investment; the breathable build helps keep temperatures neutral even during winter months. We're used to seeing 30% off from Brooklyn Bedding but that's jumped to 32% with code TOMS32 this Labor Day — $905.76 is for a queen is a record low price so don't let this deal get away.
Ideal for: Hot sleepers; side sleepers; budget luxury
7. The WinkBed Mattress (queen): was $1,799 now $1,499 at WinkBed
We'll be honest: there's always $300 off in the WinkBed mattress sale, so if it's a surprise Labor Day saving you're after, this isn't the offer for you. But if you just want quality at a good price, the WinkBed is always worth your time. A handcrafted hybrid with three firmness levels — and a Plus option, for sleepers with a bigger build — our WinkBed mattress review team loved the targeted support, which helps reduce back pain. This $300 off sale has been running for months so there's no rush to save but $1,499 for a handcrafted mattress is still a competitive price.
Ideal for: Heavier bodies, all sleep styles
8. Westin Heavenly Bed Mattress (queen): was $2,495 now $1,996 at Shop Marriott
Used in Westin hotels around the world, the Heavenly Bed is designed to deliver comfort for every guest. It achieves this through the use of a spring base (for support) and a quilted cushion top (for pressure relief) creating what Westin describes as "your personal sleep sanctuary" — we found it best for side sleepers. With 20% off all sizes you can recreate hotel comfort with a king Heavenly Bed for just $2,276 (was $2,845.) Westin has offered 30% off before but after a recent website redesign we're not sure that discount will return. It might come back for Black Friday but with mattress tariffs still threatening price increases, the cost might have risen by November.
Ideal for: Side sleepers, vacation-style sleep
9. Purple Rejuvenate Mattress (queen): was $4,999 now $4,499 at Purple
Purple mattresses are known for their unique GelFlex Grid, a flexible layer of Hyper-Polymer Elastic that cradles the body to ease aches and pains. The Rejuvenate is soft where you need comfort and firm where you need support; we described it as a "recipe for instant comfort and full-body alignment" in our Purple Rejuvenate Mattress review (we tested an older model.) We also described it as "expensive, but definitely worth it." Purple mattress sales are unpredictable so it's hard to predict when this deal will end but when it's gone, we doubt you'll see a better one until Black Friday.
Ideal for: Aches and pains; back support
Best Labor Day innerspring mattress deals
1. Saatva Classic Mattress (queen): was $2,139 now $1,739 at Saatva
The Saatva Classic is a crowd-pleaser of a mattress, which is why it's our overall most recommended bed. Available in three firmness levels and two heights, it's highly versatile with integrated support features to help reduce aches and pains. We've tested and retested this bed for our Saatva Classic mattress review and it has continuously impressed. So while it's a splurge, we think it's worth the money. Especially as you can enjoy $400 off all sizes in the Saatva Labor Day sale when you follow our links, reducing a queen Classic to $1,739 (was $2,139.)
Ideal for: All sleepers; back pain; luxury comfort
2. Sealy Posturepedic Summer Rose 12" Firm Mattress (queen): was 799 now $399.77 at Mattress Firm
Innerspring mattresses are traditional builds, known for their bouncy feel and full-body support (they're made with lots of springs and minimal cushioning.) This firm mattress from Sealy Posturepedic is likely to best suit back and stomach sleepers and in the half price clearance sale a twin is just $299.77 at Mattress Firm. It's a deal that's unlikely to last so if you have your eye on this model, shop now.
Ideal for: Sleepers who want a traditional bed
3. Marriott Innerspring Mattress (queen): was $1,995 now $1,596 at Shop Marriott
Innerspring mattresses are less common nowadays but they remain popular in an unexpected area: hotel chains. The responsive, breathable innerspring mattress is a favorite of luxury hotels, where you'll typically find a spring base mattress paired with a foam pillow top, for a crowd pleasing feel. In the 20% off sale the Marriott Innerspring mattress might be pricey at $1,596 for a queen but it's among the most affordable hotel beds. And with your saving, you can invest in the matching box spring, to give your bed the full hotel feel — a queen mattress and box spring is now $1,998 (was $2,485.)
Ideal for: Hot sleepers; combi sleepers
Best Labor Day latex mattress deals
1. Birch Natural Mattress (queen): was $1,865.33 now $1,361.70 at Birch
With prices starting at $1,002.54 for a twin (was $1,373.33) the Birch isn't exactly a cheap bed but it is competitive for an organic mattress and one of the best ways to enjoy latex comfort without breaking the bank. Our Birch Natural Mattress review team enjoyed how the firm latex foams "lifted" the body, holding the spine in alignment (but we did note the bouncy feel isn't good for couples.) You can save 27% using code TOMS27 and Birch is even throwing in free pillows. It's the same deal we saw earlier in the year but with a latex bed at this price, we're not complaining.
Ideal for: Combi sleepers, back sleepers
2. Avocado Green Mattress: twin was $2,099 now $1,784 at Avocado
The Avocado Green takes the top spot in our guide to the best organic mattresses. We love how it combines firm support with a bouncy feel; perfect for back sleepers. In our Avocado Green Mattress review we also awarded it top marks for temperature control, making it good for the lingering summer heat. There's 15% off in the current Avocado mattress sale which is among the best deals we've spotted from this eco-friendly sleep brand. And after a series of price hikes earlier in the summer, we doubt you'll see it at a cheaper price again. A queen is $1,784 (was $2,099) and thanks to the durability of latex, we think the Avocado Green will deliver many years of comfort.
Ideal for: Back sleepers, stomach sleepers
3. Naturepedic Concerto Plush Pillow Top Organic Mattress (queen): was $2,799 now $2,239.20 at Naturepedic
From organic mattress brand Naturepedic, the Concerto Plush Pillow Top uses layers of wool, cotton and latex to create exceptional pressure relief for side sleepers. One of our favorite pillow top mattresses, in our Naturepedic Concerto mattress review we described it as a "hotel-style plush bed" and agreed it lived up to its high price tag. A queen is $2,39.20, matching the price drop we spotted during Memorial Day and Black Friday.
Ideal for: Side sleepers; hot sleepers
Best Labor Day queen mattress deals under $400
1. Sleepy's by Sealy's Basic Foam Mattress: queen was $169.99 now $89.99 at Mattress Firm stores
We saw this deal last Labor Day, but now it's back. Your mileage will vary here as this deal is only available from Mattress Firm retail locations, so we'd recommend calling ahead to see if this mattress is in stock. Buy online and you'll have to pay $169.99. It's rare to find a queen mattress for less than $100, and the reviews we've seen for this one are overwhelmingly positive. At only 6", though, we'd recommend reserving this for a guest room, but if you're on the smaller side, it could serve as a reliable full-time mattress in the interim. While you'll get the 120-night trial, the warranty is only valid for one year.
Ideal for: Guest rooms; lightweight sleepers
2. Siena Signature Memory Foam Mattress: queen now $359 at Siena Sleep
This all-foam model tops our guide to the best cheap mattresses but don't let its low price fool you into thinking this is a low-quality bed. In our updated Siena Memory Foam Mattress review, our testing panel remain impressed with its excellent edge support, top-notch motion isolation, and a cooler-than-expected sleep experience, which is mainly due to its ultra-firm surface. (If you want a bed you can sink into, you'll be disappointed.) This current sale price is Siena's evergreen offer, but we still think it's an incredible value for a queen-size mattress, especially since it comes with 180 nights to trial it at home.
Ideal for: Back and stomach sleepers; couples
3. EGOHOME Black 12” Memory Foam Mattress: queen was $429.99 now $295.99 at Amazon
This is a fantastic price for an already budget mattress that’s one of the best cheap mattresses for back sleepers you can find. Our testers in the EGOHOME Black 12” Mattress review awarded it 4 out of 5 stars, and were really impressed with the edge-to-edge support and cradling foam that left them free of aches and pains in the morning. As one of the most popular mattresses sold on Amazon, this really is a bargain, especially at less than $300 for a queen in the Labor Day sales.
Ideal for: Side and back sleepers; couples
4. Dreamfoam Essential Memory Foam Mattress: queen was from $524, now from $356.32 with code TOMS32 at Brooklyn Bedding
"Straightforward" is how we best describe this all-foam mattress from Brooklyn Bedding, which comprises only a dense foam foundation, for stability and a memory foam upper layer. While the design is basic, the sizing isn't — available in five height choices (8" to 14") and over 20 sizing options (including RV beds), you'll be able to outfit nearly any space. We tested the 10" version for our Dreamfoam Essential Memory Foam mattress review and found it comfortable in all positions. Just note that as you go up in height, you'll be leaving the sub-$400 price bracket (but still saving a good chunk of change, thanks to our exclusive 32% off code, TOMS32).
Ideal for: RVs and uncommon bed sizes
5. BedStory Cooling Gel Hybrid Mattress: queen was $359.98 now $287.98 at Amazon
With a design that looks straight out of a 5-star hotel, you'd be surprised to find out that this BedStory hybrid costs under $300. What's underneath the Euro top is impressive, too — it has an eight-layer construction and dedicated lumbar support, a feature that's typically reserved for higher-priced models. The neighbor of our contributor, Alison, purchased a similarly-made BedStory mattress and called it a marked improvement from her previous bed, which was giving her loads of morning back pain. At less than $290 for a queen, we think it's worth a go if you need something ASAP.
Ideal for: Back pain; side and back sleepers
Best Labor Day smart mattress deals
1. Sleep Number ClimateCool smart bed: queen was $5,499 now $4,399.20 at Sleep Number
Released in October 2024, the Sleep Number ClimateCool is one of the newest mattresses from the leading sleep tech brand and promises to be a game-changer for hot sleepers. Its dynamic airflow system allows you to make your side of the bed up to 15 degrees cooler and draws heat away from your body overnight. And, of course, it comes with Sleep Number's signature adjustable firmness and integrated sleep tracking. With 20% off now (which translates to a saving of up to $2,050) in Sleep Number mattress sales, the ClimateCool is back down to its lowest price of the year. You can get a queen size with an integrated base for $4,399.20 (was $5,499).
Ideal for: Changing sleep needs; hot sleepers
2. Bryte Balance Signature Smart Bed: queen was $3,999 now $3,399 at Bryte
The Bryte Balance is used at high-end hotels such as the Fairmont, Park Hyatt, and Carillon — and now you can add one to your bedroom at a discount. One of our contributors reviewed the Bryte Balance at the Park Terrace last year and was amazed by its tailored pressure relief, silent alarm, and built-in sleep tracking. (Best of all: it's not noisy, a possible issue with adjustable firmness smart beds.) During the Labor Day sales, a queen Bryte Balance is $3,399, a $600 savings off MSRP. Bryte doesn't discount its beds outside of major holidays, so this may be the best price you'll find before Black Friday (and those pesky tariffs). You can also save on your purchase by applying any FSA or HSA funds you have banked. Note that delivery is not included.
Ideal for: Couples; sleep tracking; changing sleep needs
Best Labor Day deals for college dorm beds
1. DreamCloud Classic Hybrid Mattress: twin XL now $549 + free bedding bundle at DreamCloud
For college students who need to upgrade their dorm bed in one fell swoop, this is a great deal. Not only will you get one of the best hybrid mattresses we've ever tested — see our DreamCloud Mattress review to find out why — but you'll also get $599 worth of bedding that includes sheets, pillows, and a mattress protector. Considering how scarce good twin XL bedding can be to find, this will make your shopping process a whole lot easier, allowing you to focus more on tackling your assignments, of course. If anything happens, you'll be backed by a lifetime warranty and a one-year trial.
Ideal for: Most sleep styles; outfitting an entire dorm bed
2. Sealy Dreamlife Back to School Twin XL Bundle: was $159.99 now $99.99 at Kohl's
This bundle from Sealy makes it easy to upgrade your dorm mattress in an instant. It comes with a 1.5" memory foam bed topper (medium-firm) plus a cushy memory foam pillow you can rest your head on after long nights of studying.
Ideal for: An instant comfort upgrade
3. Brooklyn Bedding Standard 10" Hybrid Mattress: twin XL was $209 now $148 at Walmart
If you prefer the bounce and breathability of springs but need to stick to a modest budget, this Brooklyn Bedding deal at Walmart is an absolute steal from a trusted brand. A twin XL is $148.75 (was $209), and even a full is only $188 (down from $265) if your dorm room is generous with space. Brooklyn Bedding claims this mattress has a firm feel, so we recommend it for back and stomach sleepers. For a softer feel, choose the 12" or 14" thickness — but you'll pay more.
Ideal for: Back and stomach sleepers; low budgets
Best Labor Day mattress topper deals
1. Lucid Gel Memory Foam Topper (queen): was $99.99 now $79.99 at Lucid
If you're on a tight budget and want to upgrade your bed for less, this is a solid choice — we tested the Lucid Gel Memory Foam Topper and in our review, we gave it 3.5 out of five stars. Made of gel-infused memory foam, we found that it did well with temperature regulation, keeping us from overheating at night. It's also a good choice for any side sleepers looking to add some extra cushioning to an old or firm mattress. The twin topper is just $69.99 but that drops to $55.99 in the sale.
Ideal for: Upgrading an old bed on a budget
2. Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Adapt Mattress Topper (queen): was $349 now $299 at Tempur-Pedic
Looking to add the luxury feel of Tempur-Pedic to your sleep space for less? A mattress topper is the way to go. The Tempur-Adapt + Cooling Mattress Topper earned 4.5 out of five stars in our review and we found it a good choice for side sleepers looking to soften a hard mattress. This topper also has a removable, washable cover, for your convenience. The standard Tempur-Adapt topper can sleep warm so if you overheat at night, we recommend adding the cooling topper upgrade — it's an extra $80 but be sure to use the code TOPPERS to save 20% and bring the price down to $359 for a queen (was $429.)
Ideal for: Aches and pains
3. Birch Plush Organic Mattress Topper (queen): was $532 now $388.36 at Birch
In our Birch Plush Organic Mattress Topper review we gave this topper four out of five stars due to its luxury feel, organic materials, and versatility (it can support most sleep positions.) From eco-sleep brand Birch, the topper is supportive and comfortable, and our sleep tester noted that it remained so whether she was sleeping on her side or back. Right now, a twin is on sale for $271.56 (was $372) when you use code TOMS27. Plus, you get a 100-night sleep trial and a ten-year warranty.
Ideal for: Side sleepers, back sleepers, organic comfort
FAQs
When is Labor Day 2025?
Labor Day falls on the first Monday in September. In 2025, this is the 1st of September. Labor Day is a federal holiday and for most Americans it's a chance to relax and soak up the last of the summer — while doing some deals shopping, of course.
When do the Labor Day mattress sales end?
The Labor Day mattress sales started a few weeks in advance of Labor Day on September 1st and we predict that most sleep brands will wrap up their special savings by the end of the week. Some discounts already finished in the early hours of September 2nd so be aware that delaying your purchase further might result in missing out on your preferred saving.
Throughout 2025 we noticed mattress sales starting earlier and earlier — we'd barely waved goodbye to Memorial Day before we were counting down to the 4th of July.
However, Labor Day bucked that trend, as it wasn't until late August that many brands announced their deals. Brooklyn Bedding, normally a reliable early starter in the major sales, waited until the week before Labor Day to boost its offers. We observed a similar trend in hotel mattresses, as the Marriott 20% off sale only got going in the days before the long weekend.
But there were still some brands that started celebrating Labor Day in earlyAugust (Sleep Number is always quick off the mark.) And looking forward to Black Friday, we predict the late starting Labor Day sales will be a blip, rather than a trend — by the end of October, we suspect there will already be a few early Black Friday sales under the belt.
Is Labor Day a good time to buy a mattress?
Yes, Labor Day has become one of the best times to buy a mattress and in 2024 we saw deals to rival the Black Friday mattress sales. This year the savings are off to a good start, with price drops from Saatva and Helix equivalent to the deals we spotted over Memorial Day.
Labor Day is the last major sale day before Black Friday in November and it marks the end of the summer mattress 'lull' — the period between July 4th and Labor Day when MSRPs traditionally go up and discounts slow down.
Are mattress sales better on Labor Day or Black Friday?
Black Friday has always been the biggest day in the mattress sales calendar and you can traditionally rely on it to bring major discounts from many of our favorite brands.
However, Labor Day has become a strong competitor. In 2024, we saw many of the Labor Day mattress deals echoed on Black Friday, including offers such as $400 off when you spend $1,000 at Saatva.
Black Friday does have the advantage of breadth: almost every retailer and brand launches a Black Friday sale, meaning you have your pick of the litter when choosing a mattress.
But being the smaller sale can also work in Labor Day's advantage — you can avoid the stress of the Black Friday rush.
Where to find the best Labor Day mattress sales
Labor Day has become a major mattress sales event so in a few weeks time you can expect to find a range of discounts both in-store and online. We predict the biggest and best sales will be from online mattress retailers, taking advantage of the lack of brick and mortar store to pass the savings onto you.
We typically recommend shopping direct from the brand, as this is where you'll often find the best extras: sleep trial, mattress warranty, any free gifts etc. Brands such as Saatva, Purple, Helix, Brooklyn Bedding and Casper have all impressed us with their online sales during previous Labor Day events.
However, we're also expecting sales from third-party retailers, such as Amazon, Walmart and MattressFirm. These retailers are often the best place to find super-cheap mattress deals, although you might not get the benefits listed above.
And if Labor Day 2025 echoes Labor Day 2024, we recommend keeping an eye out for hotel mattress sales — the Marriott shop is a good place to start.
Last year's 7 best Labor Day mattress sales
1. Saatva Classic Mattress: Save $400 at Saatva
Sale prices:
Twin: $995 (was $1,395)
Queen: $1,695 (was $2,095)
King: $2,195 (was $2,595)
Quick verdict: The Saatva Classic is the best mattress we've tested and our top recommendation for all sleepers in 2024. You can buy it in three firmness levels from soft to firm, and in two heights (11.5" and 14.5"). Our Saatva Classic mattress review testers scored it highly for lumbar support and pressure relief, noting it has great edge support too. The only downside is a $99 returns fee. Last year's $400 Labor Day sale discount matched the best pricing from Black Friday and Memorial Day — in the end, it was the lowest price we saw all year. A queen was reduced to $1,695 (was $2,095) but as the MSRP has since gone up, we expect a slightly higher price tag in this year's sale.
2. DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress: Save up to $1,236 at DreamCloud
Sale prices:
Twin: $419 (was $1,013)
Queen: $665 (was $1,483)
King: $835 (was $1,785)
Quick verdict: The DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress impressed our testers for our DreamCloud Mattress review with its affordable luxury. It offers great support for back and stomach sleepers thanks to its firm feel. It's also suitable for other sleep styles, but side sleepers should be aware that it does take a few days to get used to the firmness. The mattress also sleepers cool, and it's great value for money. We thought last year's Labor Day sale price of $664 for a queen was "amazing" but right now it's even cheaper at $649 and comes in a refreshed design. The benefits have remained excellent, with a 365-night trial, lifetime warranty and free standard shipping.
3. Casper The One Mattress: Save up to $522 at Casper
Sale prices:
Twin: $599 (was $860)
Queen: $799 (was $1,145)
King: $1,119 (was $1,600)
Quick verdict: The One is a replacement for the best-selling Casper Original, one of the best memory foam mattresses we've tested for body-cradling support and pressure relief in all sleep positions. The One is the cheapest Casper mattress at any point of the year, and for Labor Day 2024 Casper offered a 35% discount, reducing a queen The One mattress to $799 — the best price before this was $870 in the 4th of July sales. Since then, Casper has dropped the MSRP of The One mattress (a queen is now $999) and now offers 20% off, reducing it to a familiar $799. We haven't seen a lower price than this, although the Back to School Bundle at Casper might appeal more to those looking for a full bed upgrade.
4. Helix Midnight Luxe Mattress: Save $775 at Helix Sleep + free bedding bundle
Sale prices:
Twin size: $1,002 (was $1,373)
Queen size: $1,732 (was $2,373)
King size: $2,097 (was $2,873)
Quick verdict: The Helix Midnight Luxe is this year’s best mattress for side sleepers thanks to excellent pressure relief for the shoulders, hips and knees – all major pressure points when side sleeping. The 13.5” Helix Midnight Luxe performed very well during our in-house testing, scoring near-perfect review scores for pressure relief and motion isolation. We therefore recommend it to side sleepers who bed share with a restless combi sleeper that spends half the night flopping between their back and side; the Midnight Luxe will absorb all that motion to help you sleep undisturbed. When conducting testing for our Helix Midnight Luxe mattress review we also discovered that the bed has strong edge support, so you can maximize every inch of sleep surface. Temperature regulation is also good, so hot sleepers are safe on this one. A queen was discounted to $1,732 (was $2,373) for Labor Day 2024 and we predict a similar deal this year. However, shoppers in 2024 could also pick up a free bedding bundle — we doubt that freebie will be back.
5. Nectar Classic Memory Foam Mattress: Save up to $700 at Nectar
Sale prices:
Twin: $499 (was $1,499)
Queen: $649 (was $1,949)
King: $849 (was $2,249)
Quick Verdict: Testers for our Nectar mattress review loved how cool Nectar's signature all-foam bed slept for a memory foam mattress, and we gave it the top spot on this year's best memory foam mattress guide. We also found it to be one of the best mattresses for side sleepers thanks to its body-hugging comfort and pressure relief. However, its cushioning comfort and great value for money will suit most sleepers, but front sleepers will probably need something firmer. Last year a queen was $649 and extras included a year-long sleep trial, free shipping and returns, and a lifetime warranty. That price has stayed steady throughout much of 2025 and the benefits are as good as ever. We have spotted the occasional flash sale since then but Nectar deals tend to be predictable — we're expecting the same saving this Labor Day.
6. Bear Elite Hybrid Mattress: Save up to $1,568 + $500 of free bedding
Twin size: $1,335 (was $1,893)
Queen size: $1,383 (was $2,305)
King size: $1,657 (was $2,762)
Quick verdict: The Bear Elite Hybrid is a luxury mattress designed with higher gauged coils in the middle that provide superb lumbar support. The testers for our Bear Elite Hybrid mattress review found it comfortable for every sleep position, especially side and stomach sleeping. It also performed well in our temperature control tests, with the Celliant-infused temperature regulating cover remaining cool to the touch through warm summer nights. Like the Saatva Classic, the Bear Elite Hybrid comes in three firmness levels, but only one height (14”) compared to Saatva’s two different heights (11.5” and 14.5”). The Elite Hybrid also has a five-zone coil support system to relieve pressure points and keep the spine aligned during sleep, reducing any aches and pains you feel in bed. In a flash sale, a queen was reduced to $1,383 (was $2,305) in the Labor Day sales. Don't worry, we'll spend all September 1st looking out for another sudden Bear saving.
7. Purple Original Mattress: Save up to $200 at Purple
Sale prices:
Twin: $799 (was $999)
Queen: $1,299 (was $1,499)
King: $1,799 (was $1,999)
Quick verdict: Our Purple Original Mattress review described sleeping on the Purple mattress as “like floating on air”. Testers loved the bounciness and elasticity of the innovative 'GelFlex' grid layer, which provides a supportive yet cushioning sleep surface that flexes under pressure but springs back into shape immediately. The grid also has an open structure which creates breathability and keeps hot sleepers cool at night. While the mattress is relatively thin at just under 10”, the mattress provided our reviewers with excellent pressure relief, motion isolation, and temperature control. There isn’t always a Purple mattress deal to be found on this mattress, but we saw $200 off last Labor Day and we're hoping for something similar (or better) this year.
