1. Sleep Number i8 Smart Bed: twin was $3,399 now $2,199 at Sleep Number
The Sleep Number i8 is a smart mattress that allows you to select your own firmness settings independent of the other side of the bed. This means reliable motion isolation (halt the sleep divorce) and customizable edge support. That said, our reviewer was hesitant to trust the i8's sleep tracking metrics, and she overheated on this mattress due to a lack of breathability. Still, if you think it's the smart bed for you, there's now $1,200 off each size, cutting a queen to $2,799 from $3,999. That beats the previous lowest price of the year which was $2,999 and is $400 cheaper than a queen last month, meaning now is a great time to shop the i8 smart bed However, we often see 30% off the i8 smart bed, which translates to $1,200 off a queen size. We'll be updating this page when if see this higher discount again around Black Friday, so be sure to check back if you're patient enough to wait for the extra saving.

It sits abovethe Sleep Number c1 smart bed and c2 smart bed, and you can get a queen size for $1,499 now after $400 off (was $1,899). 3. Sleep Number ClimateCool smart bed: queen was $5,749 now $4,749 at Sleep Number
The ClimateCool smart bed is where Sleep Number levels up its cooling technology with a dynamic airflow system built to pull heat away from your body. You can customize your temperature preferences, making each side of the bed up to 15 degrees cooler. It even gives the very best cooling mattresses of the year a run for their money. And, of course, there's Sleep Number's signature adjustable firmness and sleep reports included too. Sleep Number have risen MSRP of the ClimateCool this month (hello mattress price hikes), so while the $1,000 off looks great, it's not the best price. We've seen a queen size sell for $4,674.15 earlier this year, whereas if you shop now you'll pay $4,749 for a queen size. Though that is $200 than last month. While we may see a better price around Black Friday, we can't be sure it will drop back to its lowest ever queen price of $4,399 again (thank the tariffs). So, all in all, grabbing a queen at $4,749 isn't a bad deal.

Essentially it's a more plush upgrade on the budget c2, but not as expensive as the likes of ClimateCool (this just means you have to forego active temperature regulation).

Which Sleep Number mattress should you choose?

Sleep Number's mattress suite consists of 12 smart beds, all lined with sleep tracking sensors and air chambers enabling you to adjust the precise feel of your bed while learning more about your overnight biometrics and how restorative your rest is.

The beds are split into five different mattress series, each with its own selling point. There's the affordable Classic series, the Performance series with enhanced pressure relief, the Innovation series offering better temperature balancing and the Memory Foam series. Plus the ClimateCool series introduces active cooling, and the Climate360 series bringing active cooling and warming.

The Classic series holds Sleep Number's entry-level beds including the c1 smart bed, c2 smart bed and c4 smart bed. These are 8" to 9" mattresses marketed towards sleepers looking to experience smart bed technology on a budget. Still, they are pretty smart and come complete with responsive air chambers that alter the feel of your bed as well as integrated sleep tracking, though you must make allowances for limited cooling power considering their price point.

Next is the Performance series, including models such as the p5 smart bed, p6 smart bed, and the newer pSE smart bed. In the wider market, these are positioned as a mid-to-upper-tier smart beds. Compared to the Classic series, they focus on enhanced comfort, cooling and pressure relief. These mattresses have thicker foam layers and targeted zoned support to cradle key areas like shoulders, hips, and knees.

Then comes the Innovation series which holds our recommended best value tech-loaded mattress of the year and Sleep Number's best-seller, the 12" i8 smart bed, alongside the 13" i10 smart bed and 12" iLE smart bed. These beds promise better temperature balancing thanks to additional ceramic gel that releases excess heat from the bed. However our reviewer found herself running hot on the i8 smart bed, so we suggest particularly hot sleepers shop the ClimateCool or Climate360, which come with reliable active temperature control.

Sleep Number Memory Foam is a one-model series with the 11" m7 smart bed. Though you can adjust the feel of any Sleep Number mattress, the m7 has more for those who enjoy extra cushioning around the joints. One reviewer says: "It feels like a cloud."

The Sleep Number ClimateCool smart bed is the one for year-round hot sleepers. Released in the fall of 2024, it's designed to banish night sweats with a dynamic airflow system that pulls heat away from your body while you sleep. This airflow system is complemented by a breathable cover and ceramic gel cooling layers. Sleepers can adjust the surface temperature to be up to 15 degrees cooler on either side of the bed.

The ClimateCool also introduces Sleep Number’s SmartTemp Programs, developed in partnership with the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University. These presets are designed to promote deep sleep and ease temperature fluctuations due to hot flashes. Users can even create custom programs based on their preferences.

Finally, the Climate360 smart bed is the most sophisticated mattress from Sleep Number and arguably one of the most advanced options in the smart bed market as a whole (with a $10,000+ price tag to match at MSRP). But you do get adjustable positioning at the head and foot of the bed, meaning you can sleep in a zero gravity position to alleviate any back pain. Plus customizable firmness, sleep tracking and coaching and precise climate control that enables you to cool or warm each side of the bed by 15 degrees each way.

You can pair any mattress with a FlexFit base for an additional fee starting at $1,299 for a queen size. This enables you to fully customize the position of your bed along with its feel to reach ultimate comfort for your body. It also has Sleep Number's snore mitigation technology that adjusts your head position to open airways when snoring is detected, so you and your partner can get peaceful sleep.

Sleep Number mattress sales FAQ

What bed base do I need for a Sleep Number mattress?

A Sleep Number mattress requires a firm, solid, and non-flexing bed base to properly support its adjustable air chambers and ensure optimal performance.

You can shop integrated bases and frames at Sleep Number as well as smart adjustable bed bases. The Sleep Number FlexFit adjustable bases are specifically designed to work with the mattress’s technology and allows for heat and foot elevation, under-bed lighting and snore mitigation.

A platform bed with a solid surface (either no slats or very closely spaced slats no more than two inches apart) can also work. However it's recommended you avoid traditional box springs or foundations with wide slats or too much give, as they can interfere with the mattress's ability to maintain consistent support and may void the warranty.

Are Sleep Number mattresses worth it?

Specializing in adjustable comfort, Sleep Number mattresses are ideal for couples who can't agree on mattress firmness levels, or those who struggle to find a mattress with the right balance of contouring and support for their body type and sleep position.

Also featuring in-bed tracking, they are well suited to tech-savvy sleepers curious about learning more about, and keeping track of, their sleep habits and biometrics.

With many options at affordable price points (we're looking at the Classic series) compared to other high-tech beds, Sleep Number mattresses are ideal for budget shoppers looking to test whether smart bed technology is right for them before making larger investments.

Overall, Sleep Number beds are worth their price tags and have great potential to elevate your sleep experience through customization options and sleep tracking.

How many years should a Sleep Number bed last?

A Sleep Number mattress is designed to last around seven to 10 years, though many owners report using theirs comfortably for even longer with proper care.

These mattresses are built with adjustable air chambers and durable materials, and they come with a 15-year limited warranty that covers manufacturing defects and certain component failures.

Longevity can vary depending on usage, maintenance, and the specific model, Expectedly, higher-end models with more advanced features may require more upkeep. Checking regularly for air leaks, keeping the mattress clean, and using the recommended base can help extend its lifespan.

How hard is it to return a Sleep Number bed?

Sleep Number mattresses come with a 100-night at-home sleep trial and can be returned through calling the brand's customer service center. However, you must keep the bed for at least 30 nights before returning it and you'll incur a $250 return or exchange fee, as per Sleep Number's return policy.

Don't forget Sleep Number charges a non-refundable delivery fee too, which we think is pretty harsh considering many other premium mattress brands (like Saatva) offer free White Glove delivery.
