I'm done letting back ache and sore hips ruin my sleep — these are my 3 favorite memory foam mattresses for comfier sleep in the extended Presidents' Day sales

Besides a two-hour massage, getting the right mattress is one of the most effective things you can do to avoid waking up with sore hips and an aching back. For me, the Nectar Premier Memory Foam, reduced to $549 at Nectar, is that mattress. I slept on it for several months and have never felt comfier in bed.

To ease sore a back and hips, I recommend a mattress that balances support (to keep your spine lifted) and cushioning (to prevent pressure build-up.)

1. Nectar Premier Memory Foam (twin)
Best for side sleepers
1. Nectar Premier Memory Foam (twin): $549 at Nectar Sleep

For side sleepers waking up with sore hips, the Nectar Premier Memory Foam mattress pairs deep cushioning with a slow reaction time — in our pressure relief tests, th Nectar took five seconds for the foams to ease back to form from a four-inch sink. This translates to being cradled in a pressure relieving hug. Nectar mattress sales rarely change but $949 for a queen is an excellent price for the quality – and for a bed that sits in our Top 5 best mattresses of the year. Or you can up the support with the addition of an adjustable bed base (including zero gravity positioning), which costs $1,698 for a queen bundle at Nectar.

2. Siena Signature (twin)
Best if you're on a tight budget
2. Siena Signature (twin): $159 at Siena

More responsive than the Nectar Premier (the foams bounced back at twice the speed), the Siena has its own benefits, particularly for back sleepers looking to banish sore backs. Our Siena Signature mattress review team agreed this bed is firm yet cushioned; your spine is held straight, to limit back ache, but the squidgy foams prevent sore spots. It's also the best cheap mattress we've tested, with a queen only $294 at Siena. That's $65 cheaper than last week.

3. Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Adapt (twin)
Best for reducing back pain
3. Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Adapt (twin): was $1,699 now $1,499 at Tempur-Pedic

"Exceptional pressure relief and all-over support" is how our reviewer described the Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Adapt mattress, praising how it prevented a back pain flare up. Made using Tempur Material, a NASA-inspired super-dense memory foam, the Tempur-Adapt perfects the balance of support and cushioning (although side sleepers might prefer the Nectar Premier.) Tempur-Pedic mattress sales tend to be short-lived so act fast to catch $200 off in the extended Presidents' Day deal, reducing a queen to $1999 (was $2,199.)
