The best Saatva mattresses in 2025: Our expert guide
Our guide to the best of Saatva's luxury handcrafted mattresses, chosen by experts
Whenever our expert team has tested a Saatva mattress, we've always been thoroughly impressed with the handcrafted designs and high-quality support. That's why we've chosen our favorite beds from this premium brand and listed them in this guide to the seven best Saatva mattresses.
The Saatva Classic not only takes the top spot, but it's first in our overall best mattress guide, too. However, while the Classic is still our No. 1 after extensive testing and re-testing, there are other Saatva options that might suit you better. Whether you're looking for back pain relief, higher weight capacity or other features, there's a Saatva design to suit your sleep requirements.
Saatva's premium materials mean premium price tags, so we want to ensure you're paying for the right design. Considering different needs and budgets, we've included our own views of each mattress to help you decide. The best part? Saatva mattress sales are regular (with its biggest deals occurring in the 2025 Saatva Black Friday sales), and you'll get a 365-night trial and free bed installation with any Saatva model you buy in this month's mattress sales.
1. The best Saatva mattress overall

If you're in the market for a Saatva mattress, the very first model you should take a look at is the Classic. Saatva's best-selling mattress has it all: firmness and height options to suit any sleep style and body type, a handcrafted build that both supports and comforts, and features that cover pretty much every bedtime requirement.
With the body-cradling feel of high-density foams and the traditional bounce of coils, the Saatva Classic has an innerspring design that puts it straight to No. 1 in both our best hybrid mattress guide and best luxury mattress guide.
We recently retested the Classic, updating our Saatva Classic Mattress review with all new test data, and it astounds us with its performance each time. Our diverse testing panel slept on the Luxury Firm (the Goldilocks firmness option, if you will) and side, back, and front sleepers were comfortable, those with back pain were soothed, and couples didn't feel their partner's movements at all — small wonder why it scored 5 out of 5 for both sleep comfort and dampening motion.
Hot sleepers are also in safe hands, as the Saatva Classic scored 5 out of 5 in our temperature control tests (the Classic is excellent at shedding any absorbed body heat). Price-wise this is the best-value Saatva mattress too; it scored 5 out of 5 for value for money, with a queen regularly under $1,889 when on sale. However, heavier bodies may want to look at the pricier Saatva HD (#7) for a bigger weight capacity.

2. The best Saatva mattress for chronic back pain

Specifications

Reasons to avoid
While the Classic (#1) is the best mattress for back pain in general thanks to its lumbar support, only the Saatva Rx is designed specifically to relieve chronic back and joint pain. In fact, the Rx is the most advanced mattress for back pain we've ever tested, let alone the best Saatva mattress for chronic back pain.
So, how does the Saatva Rx go the extra mile to alleviate back pain? Well, not only does the Rx contain Satva's Lumbar Support Technology (found in almost all its beds), it also features Lumbar Zone Quilting (for healthy alignment) and Lumbar Crown (for heat-dissipating lower back support).
Our lead side- and stomach-sleeping tester has scoliosis and lower back pain, conditions that the Saatva Rx promises to tackle. After sleeping on the Rx for a month, she noticed "consistent relief". However, some lighter-bodied side sleepers felt the Rx was too firm against their side-sleeping pressure points (especially the hips).
As one of the more expensive models in Saatva's collection, we think the Rx is a worthwhile investment only for those with severe, chronic back and joint conditions who need specialized support. A queen is $3,399 (usually $2,999 with $400 discounts), so those with less severe pain can look to the Contour5 (#3) for cheaper back support at $2,999 (usually $2,599 during sales events) for a queen.

3. The best memory foam Saatva mattress

Specifications

Reasons to avoid
The Contour5 mattress is a step up from the Loom & Leaf (Saatva's only other all-foam mattress), with its addition of the cooling Phase Change Material (PCM) making it the clear winner in the comparison between the Loom & Leaf vs Contour5.
The PCM is part of the Lumbar Zone PCM Matrix, which is a lower back-supporting foam that dissipates body heat, making the Contour5 one of the best memory foam mattresses for hot sleepers. The 12.5" mattress also gives you two firmness levels to choose from (the Saatva Classic at #1 has three, however).
Our testing panel slept on a Medium feel (the other option is Firm), and our lead reviewer (a side and back sleeper who experiences overheating and occasional back pain) was cool and ache-free in every sleep position on the Contour5. Our tests also found the mattress to limit a partner's movements from transferring to your side of the bed, but they also found that the edges were too weak for sitting.
The Contour5 sits in the middle of Saatva's mattress range (excluding pet and children's beds) in terms of price. A queen has an MSRP of $2,999 and a regular sale price of around $2,599. The older Loom & Leaf is sold for the same price, but we think the Contour5's fresher, more advanced design makes it the better investment.

4. The best Saatva mattress for side sleepers

Specifications

Reasons to avoid
If you're a side sleeper looking for a cheaper alternative to the Classic (#1), and don't mind foregoing the Classic's more premium features, the Memory Foam Hybrid is a great choice. Its medium feel makes it soft enough to soothe side sleepers' shoulders and hips, but supportive enough to cater to all other sleep positions, too.
The Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid has all the necessary (yet luxury) parts you'd expect to find in one of Saatva's more affordable models. Similar to the Luxury Plush option of the Classic, it's an 11.5" innerspring hybrid that both supports and comforts all sleepers.
Our lead tester, a combination sleeper, felt "incredibly cool" and comfortable on the Memory Foam Hybrid in sleep all positions, and she praised the "phenomenal pressure relief" it offers for the shoulders, hips, and knees (areas that need cushioning when side sleeping) and how it keeps the spine aligned when back and stomach sleeping.
We can forgive the lack of firmness options as a sale price of $1,699 for a queen is reasonable and the feel (which we rated as medium-firm) is widely accommodating, although we would like to see a plusher option for lighter weight side sleepers.

5. The best Saatva mattress for hot sleepers
5. Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress
Specifications
Reasons to buy
Reasons to avoid
The best organic mattresses with latex foam are becoming popular for their natural cooling properties, and the Saatva Latex Hybrid is no exception. One of Saatva's most eco-friendly beds, the Latex Hybrid uses breathable GOLS-certified Dunlop latex for temperature regulation.
While Saatva has no specialist cooling beds like the ones found in our best cooling mattress guide, the Latex Hybrid's airflow-boosting combo of springs and breathable latex clearly makes it the most cooling design in the brand's roster.
The Latex Hybrid has a responsive feel, enabling easy movement for restless hot sleepers whose overheating causes frequent tossing and turning. Online customer reviews praise the balance between softness and firmness, with one reviewer commenting that they are "sleeping cooler (because of the natural latex) than I thought was possible in a bed".
However there's only one firmness level (medium-firm), which may be a problem for those who want a softer feel, and the bouncy feel of the latex might be a bit much for some (one unhappy customer compared it to "a trampoline"). The regular $2,199 sale price for a queen is also a little high when you consider that our top organic mattress, the Avocado Green, usually comes in at under $1,800, although to be fair the Latex Hybrid is of premium quality.
6. The best smart Saatva mattress with remote control
6. Saatva Solaire Adjustable Mattress
Specifications

Reasons to avoid
While the Classic (#1) and Contour5 (#5) have a few firmness options, the Solaire goes gives you an impressive 50 firmness options instead. Operated via a remote, this adjustable smart mattress will alleviate back pain through customizable comfort.
The larger-sized Solaire has two individual air chambers to provide the ultimate motion isolation for couples who don't wan't to feel each other's movements. Separate sides also means each sleeper can have a different firmness level than the other (good news if your partner has a different body type or sleeps in a different position).
As well as couples, Saatva recommends this chiropractor-endorsed bed to those who need tailored comfort due to injuries, pregnancy, and chronic health conditions. While its smart features mean the Solaire is the brand's most expensive mattress (usually around $4,074 to $4,199 for a queen), many customer reviews say that it's worth the dollars.
That said, don't expect app-controlled high-tech features you'd find in some of the best smart mattresses on the market. The Solaire is operated directly by a remote control, which actually may be a positive thing for those less tech-savvy.
7. The best Saatva mattress for heavy people
7. Saatva HD Mattress
Specifications
Reasons to buy
Reasons to avoid
While the Classic (#1) support sleepers of up to 300lbs on each side, some may need a little extra support and durability. The Saatva HD, on the other hand, supports sleepers up to 500lbs on each side and is proudly described by the brand as "the first luxury hybrid for bigger bodies".
To provide plus-sized sleepers with more support, the HD amps up the durability and sturdiness with tempered steel coils stronger than the industry standard, a high-density foam base and rails for sag-resistant edges.
These supportive layers do mean the mattress reaches 15.5" high, which is pretty tall and may not be suitable for those with mobility issues or those who prefer sleeping closer to the floor. While some user reviews complain about the HD being too firm, most customers are happy with the back support and quality.
After the Solaire, the HD is the most expensive Saatva model. This means that plus-sized sleepers should consider whether they really need the high-end support that this mattress provides. If so, the HD should prove to be a sound investment (although at over $3,000 for queen, you'll find cheaper options in our best mattresses for heavy bodies guide).

Also recommended
Saatva has a wide selection of premium mattresses and other luxury sleep products, so it's small wonder we couldn't squeeze them all into the shortlist above.
However, we think the following mattresses and mattress toppers deserve an honorable mention for their high-quality designs and issue-tackling features. Here are the top six alternatives worth looking at...
1. Saatva Loom & Leaf Mattress ★★★★
The forerunner to the Contour5 (#4 above), the Loom & Leaf is the brand's only other all-foam mattress. It has two firmness options, and we tested the relaxed firm, which we found to offer body-hugging comfort and back pain relief. Only downside? It sleeps a little warm.
2. Saatva Youth Mattress
All of our picks in the above guide are made for adult sleepers, but Saatva also makes mattresses for little ones. The Saatva Youth Mattress is aimed at growing kids thanks to a dual-layered design, with one side targeting children aged three to seven and the other aimed at eight-to-12 year olds.
3. Saatva Murphy Bed Mattress
The Saatva Murphy Bed is an obvious choice for those with smaller spaces or guest rooms. The 10" luxury murphy bed has a hybrid design and medium feel, but don't expect it to be as luxurious as Saatva's other models.

4. Saatva Zenhaven Latex Mattress
Saatva's only dual-sided mattress for adults, the Zenhaven makes use of latex's naturally cooling and durable properties (just like the Saatva Latex Hybrid at #5). One side is Luxury Plush, while the other is Gentle Firm.
5. Saatva High-Density Foam Mattress Topper ★★★★½
If a Saatva mattress is way outside your budget, then a Saatva mattress topper is the next best thing. The High-Density Foam Mattress Topper is a luxurious choice for side sleepers to soften hard or uncomfortable bed, and it's just $245 for a queen.
6. Saatva Graphite Memory Foam Mattress Topper ★★★★½
At $295 for a queen, the Graphite Memory Foam Mattress Topper is slightly more expensive than the High-Density Foam Mattress Topper. However, it's worth the extra $50 if you're in need of more cooling or back support.
Best Saatva mattress FAQs
Can I buy Saatva mattress in-store?
Why you can trust Tom's Guide
It's understandable if you're wondering where to buy a Saatva mattress. After all, Saatva began life as an online-only luxury mattress brand, meaning you could only purchase its mattresses through Saatva's official website. However, Saatva mattresses are now sold in Saatva Viewing Rooms, too.
Each Saatva Viewing Room contains every model in Saatva's mattress collection, with self-serve kiosks and showroom assistants (dubbed "Saatva Sleep Guides") standing by to provide expert information on each mattress. The main aim of these Viewing Rooms is to create a relaxing, no-pressure environment soothing music, warm lighting, and a spa-like aesthetic.
One of our regular testers visited a Viewing Room and summed up the atmosphere with this quote: "I spent the majority of my time trying every Saatva mattress across the palatial 5,561-square-foot space, feeling like Goldilocks if the Three Bears owned a luxury mansion instead of a dinky cottage."
There are 27 Saatva Viewing Rooms in total, and they are located all across the United States, including in the West, Southwest, Midwest, Northeast, and Southeast. The newest Saatva Viewing Room location is Saatva Old Town in Pasadena, CA.
What benefits come with a Saatva mattress?
Whichever Saatva mattress you buy, you'll receive some generous benefits with your purchase. The most impressive is Saatva's white glove delivery, a convenient and high-end perk that includes both free installation of your new Saatva mattress and free removal of your old mattress.
Another great benefit is Saatva's 365-night sleep trial, which means you'll get an entire year to literally sleep on your decision to purchase a Saatva bed. If during the trial period you feel that the mattress isn't for you, you can return your Saatva mattress for a pick-up fee of $99.
Saatva mattresses also come with a lifetime warranty, which covers issues such as defects and manufacturing flaws throughout your ownership.
When is the best time to buy a Saatva mattress?
Saatva mattress sales occur throughout the year, and you can usually get a $400 off with our semi-exclusive discount during major sales event such as Labor Day, Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and Presidents' Day. The Saatva Black Friday mattress sale is the next big event, and last year's Black Friday saw $400 off all Saatva mattress orders over $1,000.
The $400 discount is a great deal on the cheaper models, such as the Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid or the Classic Mattress, which are usually only $200 to $300 off in the smaller sizes. However, the more expensive models (such as the Saatva HD, Solaire or RX Mattress) are cheaper during the brand's sporadic 15% off sales.
Please be aware that if you see a great deal on your preferred Saatva mattress, it's best to buy it as soon as you can. MSRPs have already risen earlier this year, and there's always a possibility they may rise again due to looming mattress tariffs.
How are Saatva mattresses delivered?
As part of Saatva's white glove delivery service, Saatva mattresses are delivered directly to your bedroom of choice and installed for you, and the movers will dispose of your old mattress, too.
This is a handy service as, unlike the best mattresses in a box, the made-to-order Saatva mattresses a delivered flat (just like traditional store-bought mattresses) rather than vacuum-packed, rolled up and placed in a shipping box.
The only bed that isn't delivered flat is the Saatva Solaire, as it's a smart airbed. Instead, movers will take the rolled-up and compressed Solaire up to your preferred room and fill up the air chamber on each of the bed for you.
Are Saatva mattresses non-toxic?
Yes, Saatva mattresses are non-toxic. Saatva prides itself on using premium materials free of harmful chemicals and pollutants. The brand's clean, non-toxic materials include natural latex, CertiPUR-US certified foams, and organic cotton covers primed with a chemical-free botanical antimicrobial treatment to prevent the growth of mold and bacteria.
All Saatva mattresses are free of fiberglass, the controversial flame retardant material. Instead, the brand uses natural flame barriers made up of thistle pulp and polyester or organic New Zealand wool.
