Tom's Guide Verdict
The Saatva Latex Hybrid mattress is an organic mattress with a bouncy, supportive feel thanks to its natural latex comfort layer and wrapped coils. It skews on the firmer side of medium, making it an ideal choice for back and stomach sleepers. (However, most side sleepers will crave deeper pressure relief.) Couples will appreciate its excellent motion isolation and strong edges — and all sleepers will benefit from its breathable materials. It commands a premium, but in return, you get a beautifully handcrafted bed with free white glove delivery, a one-year sleep trial, and a lifetime warranty.

Why you can trust Tom's Guide
Two things that are most important to me when it comes to my mattress: I can comfortably sleep on my stomach and back, and it's made with nontoxic organic materials. As you can imagine, I was enthused to test the Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress because of its organic materials and supportive hybrid design.
Fortunately, the Saatva Latex Hybrid met all my expectations after three weeks of sleeping on a queen-size version between late October and early November in North Texas. (For reference, I’m a 5ft5in woman who weighs 175lbs.)
My full Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress review is below, but if you're short on time, skim the highlights below...
Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress review in brief
Saatva is known for producing some of the best mattresses on the market, with its flagship Saatva Classic being our highest-rated bed to date. The Saatva Latex Hybrid is within the same (premium) price category as the Saatva Classic, but the build and feel differ.
This organic mattress uses natural latex (GOLS-certified), cotton, and New Zealand wool — and pairs those materials with a bed of wrapped coils made from recycled steel. The latex layer is zoned and ventilated for targeted support and enhanced breathability.
The Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress comes in one (medium-firm) comfort level, and I agree with that assessment, rating it a 6.5 out of 10 on the firmness scale. It has a bouncy, supportive surface that did a great job at preventing lower back pain and relieving pressure when I rested on my back or stomach.
However, I think there are better mattresses for most side sleepers, as the level of pressure relief is quite subtle. That said, heavier side sleepers may find the level of give here sufficient, especially when paired with its steady support.

Meanwhile, the Saatva Latex Hybrid mattress excels in other key performance areas — edge support, temperature regulation, and motion isolation. It's an all-around mattress that'll suit couples, those who sleep hot, and sleepers who need mobility assistance getting in and out of bed.
This is a handcrafted organic mattress — and that's reflected in the high cost. (A queen-size retails for $2,549.) Fortunately, the Saatva Black Friday sale cuts $400 off the retail price, which is among the highest discounts we've seen for the Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress all year.
Also consider the extras Saatva includes with purchase: free in-home white glove delivery, a 365-night trial, and a lifetime warranty. These are the most generous amenities in the industry.
While I wish I could add a pillow-top for my occasional side sleeping (or even be able to choose a firmness level altogether), I’m still a major fan of the Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress and believe it truly transformed my sleep. Keep reading for a deeper look at why I think it's worth the investment...
We tested this mattress under our previous mattress methodology. Going forward, we'll be following a revised mattress methodology with an updated scoring schema for our in-house and at-home tests.
Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress review: Price & trial
- One of Saatva's more affordable models — but still a premium buy
- A queen-size retails for $2,549 but regular sales knock up to $400 off
- Includes free white glove delivery, a 365-night trial, and a lifetime warranty
The Saatva Latex Hybrid is among the brand's lower-priced mattresses, but among the broader market, it's still a premium buy.
Here are the current retail prices for all sizes of the Saatva Latex Hybrid:
- Twin: $1,699
- Twin XL: $1,824
- Full: $2,329
- Queen: $2,549
- King: $3,049
- California king: $3,049
- Split king: $3,648
However, you'll rarely pay full price for this or any other Saatva mattress. We regularly see Saatva mattress sales slash hundreds of dollars off the MSRP.
Right now, all sizes of the Saatva Latex Hybrid are $400 off after our exclusive discount link, which drops a queen-size to $2,149. However, if you're buying a split king, go through the general Saatva Black Friday sale instead for $425 off, knocking the price to $3,223.
How does the price compare to other latex hybrids on the market? The Saatva Latex Hybrid is a costlier option than the Avocado Green Mattress and the Nolah Natural Mattress, and on par with the Naturepedic Concerto Mattress.
But remember that the price of the Saatva Latex Hybrid also includes the extras — and they're hands-down the best in the industry. You'll get 365 nights to trial it at home along with a limited lifetime warranty. Returns cost $99.
White glove delivery is provided at no additional charge, too. This means your Saatva mattress will be brought to and set up in a room of your choice, with haul-away of your existing mattress (and bed base), if necessary.
For Black Friday 2025, Saatva is cutting $400 off all sizes of its Latex Hybrid Mattress using our exclusive discount link. That brings the price of a queen from $2,549 to $2,149. This is one of the strongest deals we've seen for this organic hybrid all year. As usual, Saatva includes free in-home delivery (plus mattress removal), a one-year trial, and a lifetime warranty.
Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress review: Design
- A 12" hybrid mattress with five layers or organic and non-toxic materials
- Natural latex comfort layer has five zones for targeted support
- Has several mattress certifications, including GOLS and GREENGUARD Gold
The 12" Saatva Latex Hybrid comprises five layers of organic and non-toxic materials.
On top is an organic cotton cover that’s treated with Guardin botanical antimicrobial treatment to prevent bacteria, mold, and mildew from forming. (The cotton cover is hand-tufted, and although I couldn’t feel it through my sheets, some reviewers claim it's uncomfortable.)
Underneath that is a blend of certified organic New Zealand wool with small amounts of polyester and rayon. This multi-purpose layer wicks moisture and body heat, acts as a natural flame retardant, and serves as an antimicrobial.
Following that is a three-inch layer of GOLS-certified natural latex with five ergonomic zones. Each zone provides support and buoyancy dependent on different parts of your body. For instance, you’ll get more support in the center third of the mattress at the point where you’re the heaviest.
Although latex doesn’t retain as much heat as other materials (like memory foam), Saatva created airflow channels in the latex for more breathability.
The support core is made up of individually wrapped coils, which are reinforced along the lumbar region and around the edges. The final layer is an organic cotton eco loft pad that sits below the coils to prevent the layers from shifting.
As a hybrid mattress, the Saatva Latex Hybrid has coils, which are reinforced along the lumbar region and around the edges. The base layer is an organic cotton eco loft pad that sits below the coils to prevent the layers from shifting.
When it comes to mattress certifications, only the natural latex is GOLS certified. Although Saatva says its cotton is organic (and it may be), there's no mention of GOTS certification or anything similar.
At the least, the mattress is eco-INSTITUT & GREENGUARD Gold certified, which means it has low VOCs (volatile organic compounds — which contribute to that off-gassing smell). It’s also free of chemical flame retardants, pesticides, GMOs, fiberglass, fertilizers, dyes, and heavy metals.
Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress review: Comfort & support
- A medium-firm mattress (I rate it on the firmer side of medium)
- Subtle pressure relief + steady support = great for back and front sleeping
- However, most side sleepers will want more contouring for their joints
As soon as the delivery drivers placed the mattress on my bedframe, I jumped onto the Saatva Latex Hybrid mattress and bounced. When I slept at night, this springy mattress pushed against my 175lb. body, so rather than sink in, my body essentially stayed on top of the mattress.
That’s not to say that the surface isn’t comfortable. Saatva describes it as medium-firm or a 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale. I would say it’s a 6.5 (maybe 7) out of 10, but I otherwise agree with the medium-firm rating. It’s soft and slightly plush, but there is no sink-in effect, cloud-like feel, or even contouring.

As a combination sleeper, I preferred sleeping on my back more than on my stomach here. While I could sleep on my side, I did so a bit awkwardly, because there was no give for my hips. This required me to sleep in a twisted position with my top leg thrown over onto the mattress.
I was most impressed by the pressure relief of the Saatva Latex Hybrid when I slept on my back. Overnight, the mattress soothed any soreness from exercising or working at my desk all day. I didn’t toss or turn much while sleeping on this mattress or wake up often.
When I placed a 15lb dumbbell in the center of the mattress to objectively measure its pressure relief, it dipped a quarter of an inch. The mattress is somewhat firm but only enough to suit back and stomach sleepers. My hips and lower back were immensely supported in those positions.
If you're looking for a latex hybrid mattress for side sleepers, consider the Naturepedic Concerto Pillow Top Mattress. It's plush enough to cushion those key touchpoints (shoulders, hips, knees) while maintaining a strong support core to keep the spine in proper alignment.

Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress review: Delivery & setup
Purchase a Saatva Latex Hybrid and you’ll receive free white glove delivery. Since Saatva mattresses are made-to-order, it will take a few weeks before the delivery service reaches out to schedule the delivery. (This is usually done through a third-party logistics company, not Saatva itself.)
My delivery drivers contacted me before arriving and moved the mattress on my bed to another room before bringing in the Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress. For reference, the delivery drivers can remove your old mattress at no cost; you'll just need to make that clear before they arrive to your home.
The mattress was covered in plastic, and yet I didn’t notice any off-gassing when I removed it. Since it wasn’t rolled up like a mattress in a box, I was able to begin sleeping on it immediately. The entire delivery and setup process took about 25 minutes.

Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress review: Performance
- Hardly any motion transfer — great for couples
- Breathable materials help maintain a neutral temperature
- Sturdy edges you can safely sit on and lie up against
A quality mattress offers more than comfort and support. I tested the Saatva Latex Hybrid in three areas: motion isolation, temperature regulation, and edge support.
By running several objective and real-world tests, I'm able to give potential customers better insight into this mattress and explain why I think it’s one of the best on the market.
Motion isolation
The motion isolation of a mattress can determine whether a couple can sleep well at night without waking up when their partner moves or their pet jumps on the bed.
Although I don’t have a partner, I had a friend get in and out of bed and turn positions to see if I could feel them move. I’m glad to report that I could not.
I also ran an objective test by placing an empty wine glass on one side of the bed. On the other side, or about 25 inches away, I dropped a 15lb dumbbell from 4 inches above the surface.
The wine glass didn’t shake or topple over. I ran this test again from 12 and 8 inches away, and the results were the same. That's impressive, as these results suggest that even vigorous movement is less likely to travel to the other side of the mattress.
Buyers can rest assured that the Saatva Latex Hybrid mattress has top-tier motion isolation — and a candidate for the best mattress for couples.
Score: 5 out of 5
Temperature regulation
Hybrid mattresses are known for having better airflow than their all-foam counterparts. Combined with the perforated natural latex layer — which is more breathable than synthetic foam — it’s no surprise that the Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress regulates temperature well.
It's not a specialist cooling mattress, but my temperature remained neutral for the most part. The only few nights that I awoke sweaty were due to the change of seasons in Dallas during my testing, and I have to attribute that to user error.
I tested the mattress in October and November when the temperature ranged between the high 60s and low 80s during the day and dropped to the high 30s to low 60s at night.
I didn’t use an air-conditioner during testing (and sometimes not a fan), so some nights my home was warmer than expected. I also misjudged the heaviness of my nightwear. Thus, any overheating or sweating was my fault and not some flaw in the mattress design.
Overall, I think the Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress excels at temperature regulation, even in light of my miscalculations.
Score: 4 out of 5
Edge support
To test the edge support of the Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress, I lay along the side and observed if the bed dipped or if I slipped off. Neither occurred.
Then, I sat along the sides and the foot of the bed to see how well it supported my weight. The mattress barely dipped, and I felt supported — so much so that I think anyone with mobility issues will easily be able to get in and out of bed or get dressed while sitting on the sides in the mornings.
I objectively tested the edge support by placing a 15lb. weight on the edges. It dipped about one-fourth of an inch — the same amount we measured at the center of the bed. This suggests consistent support from edge to edge.
Then again, I wasn’t surprised by the impeccable edge support here, considering that the perimeter coils are reinforced as part of the design.
Score: 5 out of 5
Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress review: User reviews
As of this writing, the Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress has a 4.8-star rating out of 5 from over 300 reviews on the Saatva website. Reviews can be searched by popular keywords and by ratings, or by typing in a search box.
There are only 10 reviews that are three stars or fewer. After looking through them, it appears that the low star ratings have to do with either the delivery process (which is handled by a third-party company) or firmness (which is subjective).
But even those who praised the mattress and gave four- or five-star reviews noted the firmness of the mattress, with some mentioning that they added a mattress topper to make it softer.
Overwhelmingly, reviewers liked the feel and support of the Saatva Latex Hybrid for back and stomach sleeping. Others praised it for its ability to prevent overheating and relieve pain.
Should you buy the Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress?
Upon testing the Saatva Latex Hybrid mattress, I’ve come to realize that it isn’t for everyone. It’s a little firmer than you might be used to, but the bouncy surface does a fantastic job of supporting your hips and lower back.
I think this mattress is a great choice for those who sleep on their back or stomach, or sleepers who have a heavier build. (It has a combined weight capacity of 600lbs, so it doesn't quite crack the list of the best mattresses for heavy people.)
Due to its less pronounced pressure relief, I wouldn’t suggest the Saatva Latex Hybrid for a strict side sleeper — and if you do sleep that way, you may want to consider adding a plush topper for extra contouring relief. (If not, consider a different, softer mattress altogether, as you'll find in the alternatives below.)
The stable edges and superb motion isolation are bonuses, especially for couples who need to spread out or tend to move a lot in their sleep. Temperature regulation here is better than most mattresses; that's thanks to the hybrid design and the breathable organic and nontoxic materials.
Despite a higher-than-average cost, I think the Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress is worth buying, especially if you're a back or stomach sleeper who happens to share a bed. Better yet, it comes with free delivery and setup, a 365-night trial, and a lifetime warranty.

Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress review: Alternatives to consider
This hybrid cooling mattress comes in multiple firmness levels, which allows it to cater to a greater variety of sleep styles. You'll lose out on the sturdy edges of the Saatva Latex Hybrid here, but if you want more command over the feel of your mattress and struggle with overheating at night, give this one a strong look. Learn more in our Bear Elite Hybrid Mattress review.
This mattress is made entirely of organic latex, wool, and cotton — no coils to be found here. The PlushBeds Botanical Bliss is priced similarly to the Saatva Latex Hybrid, but it also comes in two firmness levels and three height levels so you can tailor it to your preferences. (We tested the 9-inch medium-firm version for our PlushBeds Botanical Bliss Organic Latex Mattress review.)
This is also a latex hybrid mattress that we like for back and stomach sleepers. (It has a higher weight limit than the Saatva Latex Hybrid, so we recommend it for larger sleepers, too.) Upfront, the Avocado Green costs less than the Saatva when it's on sale, but adding a box-top or pillow-top will increase the price exponentially while also making it much softer to sleep on. We tested the firm base model for our Avocado Green Mattress review.
