Saatva is most well-known for its Classic Mattress, but did you know the brand has a whole lineup of beds for the entire family? We've put together this guide to help you find the best Saatva mattress for your needs.

The Saatva Classic sits at the top of our best mattresses in 2025 list, earning a perfect 5 stars out of 5 from our testing panel. But maybe you need a mattress that's more accommodating for heavier sleepers, such as the Saatva HD — or perhaps you crave the hug of the all-foam Contour5.

No matter what type of Saatva mattress you're shopping for, you'll be able to find a great deal during this week's 4th of July sales. As always, Saatva includes free White Glove Delivery, a one-year trial, and a lifetime warranty with every mattress purchase.

1. The best Saatva mattress overall

A luxurious all-rounder that'll please many sleepers

Specifications

Type: Innerspring hybrid
Best for: All sleepers; general aches and pains
Materials: Coils and memory foam
Brand firmness: 3, 5-7, or 8
Height: 11.5" or 14.5"
MSRP: $1,399 - $2,998

Reasons to buy

+
Three firmness levels
+
Two different heights
+
Year's trial and lifetime warranty

Reasons to avoid

-
$99 return or exchange fee
-
Max weight limit of 600lbs

The Saatva Classic is a luxury innerspring hybrid designed to suit most body types and sleeping positions. We rate it as the best hybrid mattress in the world, with three levels of firmness to choose from: Soft Plus, Luxury Firm, and Firm. (We tested the Luxury Firm Saatva Classic in an 11.5" profile and found it hard to fault.)

The Classic is made with 14.5-gauge recycled steel Lumbar Zone Pocketed Coils and high-density memory foam, and features a number of design elements to reduce general aches and pains. While the Saatva RX below is the best choice for upper and lower back pain, the Classic is an excellent all-rounder for helping you to sleep comfortably through the night.

The Euro Top Saatva Classic is covered in breathable organic cotton treated with a botanical infusion called Guardin. This naturally blocks the growth of mold, mildew, and bacteria to keep the mattress fresher for longer. You won't find fiberglass in any Saatva beds either, as the brand opts for a plant-based thistle pulp to act as a flame barrier instead.

In the center third of the mattress lies Lumbar Zone Quilting to protect your back, relieve pressure points, and ease discomfort; an Active Spinal Wire keeps your spine properly aligned regardless of the position you sleep in.

We found the edge support very good on the Saatva Classic, and that's down to the placement of foam rails along each edge. This makes it easy to get in and out of the mattress, plus you can spread out and use every inch for sleeping without losing out on support.

Although it's a premium mattress in the broader market, the Saatva Classic is among the most affordable models the brand offers, outside of its kids' models. It's also the most flexible since you're able to tailor the firmness and height to your liking. In essence, this mattress can be built to suit almost anyone.

The best Saatva mattress for back pain

A specialist model made for those with back and joint pain

Specifications

Type: Hybrid innerspring
Best for: Chronic back pain; painful joint conditions
Materials: Memory foam and coils
Brand firmness: 3-4
Height: 15"
MSRP: $1,999- $3,999

Reasons to buy

+
Excellent pain relief
+
Best suited for back sleepers
+
Maintains a comfortable sleep temperature

Reasons to avoid

-
Smaller side sleepers might find it too firm
-
At 15", could be difficult to scale

The Saatva RX is the best mattress for back pain we've tested. It's designed to suit sleepers with serious, chronic back and joint conditions such as arthritis, scoliosis, and sciatica. It comes in one firmness level, dubbed 'Supportive Plush,' which Saatva says falls between a 3-4 on its 10-point firmness scale. Keeping in mind that firmness is subjective, our testing panel collectively rated it medium-firm to firm.

Saatva tweaked the design of the Saatva RX since we originally tested it in 2023. The Therapeutic Support Core still consists of 8" wrapped coils, but instead of the 2" gel foam modules, there's now a layer of RX Wave-Zone Foam with five ergonomic zones for enhanced pressure relief.

A bed of 1" micro-coils sits between two 3/4" layers of high-density foam for additional relief, and like other Saatva mattresses, there's a 1" strip of gel-infused memory foam paired with specialty quilting in the top cover for lumbar support.

Our side/front sleeping lead tester, who has a mild case of scoliosis, noticed an improvement in her back pain after waking up with stiffness due to a too-firm mattress. Among our wider panel, the Saatva RX was a hit with our back sleepers, and while our average to heavyweight side sleepers found it comfortable, our lightweight side sleepers found it too firm for their liking.

With a 15" height, the Saatva RX might be difficult to scale for sleepers with limited mobility. Meanwhile, the edge support is steady, though this may not extend to the head or foot of the bed, as Saatva modified the design to include firmer caliper coils exclusively along the sides.

While designed to provide maximum lumbar support and relieve pressure points, those with normal aches should probably try a mattress with adjustable firmness levels, such as the Saatva Classic above. (It'll be much easier on the wallet, too.)

3. The best memory foam Saatva mattress

This Saatva mattress proves memory foam can be a luxury material

Specifications

Type: All-foam
Best for: Hot sleepers, couples, pressure relief
Materials: Premium foams, organic cotton
Brand firmness: 5-7 or 8
Height: 12.5"
MSRP: $1,899 - $3,599

Reasons to buy

+
Two firmness levels
+
Advanced cooling tech
+
Targeted lumbar support

Reasons to avoid

-
Less support for heavier bodies

The all-foam Saatva Contour5 pairs plush cushioning with better cooling than its predecessor, the now-discontinued Loom & Leaf. Like many of the best cooling mattresses, the Saatva Contour5 uses Phase Change Materials (PCM) to help absorb and dissipate body heat.

It has a breathable organic cotton cover, a flame barrier made with nontoxic cellulose fibers, and a proprietary CoolVent System with Lumbar Zone Technology and PCM. The enhanced lumbar zone support helps to keep the spine aligned.

There's also a 1.5” layer of gel-infused memory foam with airflow channels that prevent heat from being trapped, plus a 3” layer of pressure-relieving memory foam.

The Contour5 is available as either a Medium or Firm; we tested the Medium and found it closer to medium-firm, but with enough pressure relief for side sleepers. You won't exactly sink into the bed, but the dense memory foam eases around the body to relieve pressure where you press against the mattress.

These slow-moving foams also impressed us with their motion isolation. Our lead tester said they could share with their restless partner and not be disturbed.

All-foam mattresses have a reputation for sleeping hot, and our biggest fault with the previous Loom & Leaf was a tendency to overheat. Despite the plush build, the Contour5 maintains a neutral temperature overnight. We recommend this to hot sleepers who love the feel of the best memory foam mattresses but want to avoid sweaty mornings.

4. The best Saatva mattress for side sleepers

An affordable alternative to the flagship Saatva Classic that's ace for side sleeping

Specifications

Type: Hybrid
Best for: Contouring comfort; pressure relief
Materials: Memory foam and coils
Brand firmness: 6
Height: 11.5"
MSRP: $1,349 - $2,499

Reasons to buy

+
Contouring foam comfort
+
Great for side sleepers
+
Relieves pressure points

Reasons to avoid

-
No way to customize
-
Doesn't sink like other foam beds

The Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid Mattress is a more affordable alternative to the Classic. But this is a Saatva mattress, so it still comes steeped in quality. Available in one firmness level (Medium) and height profile (11.5”), it aims to provide a contoured feel while maintaining a similar level of responsiveness to Saatva’s popular flagship model.

The Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid features 8" pocketed comfort coils, a gel-infused lumbar crown, and a 1.5" layer of memory foam with air pockets for a keen balance of cooling and support that should suit most lightweight to average sleepers.

Our tester noticed the lack of a sink-in feel that's typical of foam beds, but that also allowed for better ease of movement and plenty of support when sleeping on her back. That's not to say there's no pressure relief, as our tester's shoulder pain melted away after a long day of yard work when sleeping on this mattress.

(That said, side sleepers on a smaller budget who want to make their current bed more plush should read our Saatva Memory Foam Mattress Topper review.)

Like the Saatva Classic, edge support and temperature regulation are excellent with the Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid, and while our tester rated its motion isolation 'above average,' it may not fare as well if you sleep with a very fidgety partner.

5. Saatva Latex Hybrid Mattress

An organic mattress with naturally breathable materials

Specifications

Type: Hybrid
Best for: Overheating, ease of movement
Materials: Talalay latex and coils
Brand firmness: 5-7
Height: 12"
MSRP: $1,699 - $2,999

Reasons to buy

+
Contours to your body
+
Naturally cooling
+
Hypoallergenic

Reasons to avoid

-
Too firm for lighter bodies

The Saatva Latex Hybrid is a hand-tufted mattress made from natural Talalay latex, offering a much more subtle hug than memory foam.

This is the best Saatva mattress for sleepers seeking relief from night sweats. The cushioned Euro top is wrapped in an organic cotton and New Zealand wool cover to help wick away sweat and heat. The 3" layer of 5-zoned latex adds breathability along with a little bounce, a lot of pressure relief, and a well-supported lower back.

The Saatva Latex Hybrid is also a great option for allergy sufferers since latex is naturally hypoallergenic, antimicrobial, and free of harmful chemicals. Plus, latex is hard-wearing and durable, which is why a latex mattress is an excellent value for money. Sure, it costs more than average, but it's a great long-term investment.

6. The best Saatva mattress for dual-sided firmness

6. Saatva Zenhaven Natural Latex Mattress

A sturdy latex mattress made for indecisive sleepers

Specifications

Type: Latex
Best for: Hot sleepers with back aches, those seeking a durable bed, indecisive sleepers
Materials: Dunlop latex
Brand firmness: 4-5 or 7-8
Height: 10"
MSRP: $1,999 - $4,799

Reasons to buy

+
Dual-sided design
+
Breathable for cooler sleep
+
Great lumbar support

Reasons to avoid

-
Very heavy to flip over

The Saatva Zenhaven is a luxury organic latex mattress with a dual sided design to appeal to a wider range of sleepers. We rate it as one of the best organic mattresses you can buy, and it’s particularly good for hot sleepers.

The USP of the Zenhaven is its dual-sided design, allowing sleepers to pick the side most suited to their sleeping style. This means that layers are replicated on both sides of the mattress, starting with a quilted, breathable organic cotton cover that has lumbar zone quilting in the center third for added lumbar support. Underneath this is a layer of GOTS-certified organic New Zealand wool to wick away moisture.

Next up is the ergonomic 5-zone ventilated natural latex layer, which is either luxury plush (4-5/10) or gentle firm (7-8/10). A latex core gives the whole bed structure.

The Saatva Zenhaven’s natural materials help to regulate body temperature and wick away moisture. And, as with the Saatva Latex Hybrid mattress, the Saatva Zenhaven is a great choice for allergy sufferers.

The Luxury Plush side of the mattress should appeal to side sleepers and lighter-weight back sleepers, while the Gentle Firm should be a better fit for back and stomach sleepers.

One of our testers tried the Gentle Firm side at a Saatva Viewing Room and particularly enjoyed the subtle sink of the 5-zone latex layer. Be warned, though, that this is a heavy mattress, weighing between 80lbs and 165lbs, so you’ll need two people to flip it.

7. Saatva Solaire Adjustable Mattress

Reasons to avoid

-
Very expensive
-
Remote is confusing at first

The Saatva Solaire Adjustable Mattress is the brand's most expensive model, featuring an impressive 50 different firmness levels available to choose from on either side of the bed. That means both you and your partner can enjoy personalized comfort without compromise, so you can sleep on a softer mattress and they get the firmer support their body needs for restful sleep.

The Solaire is technically considered an airbed since it has vulcanized air chambers, along with layers of Talalay latex and gel-infused memory foam for a breathable, contouring feel. Everything is controlled via remote control, making it a convenient option for those who prefer not to fiddle with apps that typically accompany full-blooded smart mattresses.

The six-layer Solaire shares some of the same features as the Saatva Classic, including a naturally hypoallergenic cover made from breathable organic cotton. This is also treated with Guardin, Saatva's botanical antimicrobial treatment to reduce the growth of bacteria, mold, and mildew.

The Solaire also boasts lumbar zone quilting, just like the Classic, to add more support in the center third of the mattress. Natural latex is used in the support layer, along with a 2" layer of gel-infused memory foam.

If you don't know what type of mattress feel suits your body, then the Solaire, with its 50 different firmness levels, is the best Saatva mattress for you.

8. The best Saatva mattress for heavy people

8. Saatva HD Mattress

A specialist mattress that supports up to 500lbs per side

Specifications

Type: Hybrid
Best for: People weighing over 230lbs
Materials: Talalay latex, memory foam, and coils
Brand firmness: 7
Height: 15.5"
MSRP: $1,999 - $3,999

Reasons to buy

+
Supports up to 1,000lbs
+
Targeted lumbar support
+
Reinforced edges

Reasons to avoid

-
Short people may find it too tall

Designed to support sleepers weighing between 300lbs and 500lbs, the Saatva HD is one of our recommended best mattresses for heavy people.

This lofty 15.5” bed gets its main support from a layer of 12.5-gauge steel open coils that are 25% stronger than the industry standard. You’ll also find reinforced foam edges to prevent sagging and make it easier to get in and out of bed.

This is backed up by a 5lb memory foam layer, 5-zone Talalay latex (which also helps to keep the mattress cool with its natural breathability), and the brand’s patented Lumbar Zone Technology. This provides more support in the center third of the mattress to ensure proper spinal alignment.

Heavy sleepers should enjoy this mattress in all sleeping positions. There’s plenty of padding at the shoulders and hips for side sleepers, and the additional lumbar support will help keep both back and stomach sleepers in the correct spinal alignment. Combination sleepers should also find it easy to change position through the night as you sleep more ‘on top’ of the Saatva HD, rather than sinking in.

Even average-weight stomach sleepers might enjoy the Saatva HD as the additional support will help prevent their hips from sinking into the mattress. It could also be a good choice for couples when only one is of a larger build.

9. The best Saatva mattress for small spaces

Height: 10"

Reasons to avoid

-
Limited sizes

Murphy beds are rarely known for their luxury design; they're typically for those who prioritize space saving over indulgence. But the Saatva Murphy Bed Mattress ensures that even those who lack floor space don't have to compromise on comfortable sleep.

A hybrid design, the Saatva Murphy Bed Mattress features many of the signature features found in more expensive Saatva beds. The sturdy innerspring base is topped by multiple foam layers, while a lumbar wire ensures support for the back.

With a medium-firm feel, the Saatva Murphy Bed Mattress has a diverse appeal — good news, if you plan on offering it as a mattress for house guests.

At 10" tall, it's a suitable mattress thickness for adults, although it's thinner than other beds in the Saatva adult line-up. That tends to result in less pressure relief and reduced motion isolation.

But that's an expected trade-off for the price cut. With an MSRP of $1,499 for a queen, the Murphy Bed Mattress is several hundred dollars cheaper than the Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid, the budget option of the main Saatva line-up.

The Saatva Murphy Bed Mattress takes Saatva's signature comfort and finish and places it in a smaller package. If you need to save space but have a budget to play with, you're a frequent mover who needs a mattress to withstand storage, or you want to treat your spare room, it's a perfect fit.

Best Saatva mattress FAQs

Where can I buy a Saatva mattress?

Saatva mattresses are available to purchase on Saatva’s website, but to ease the minds of shoppers wary of buying a new bed online, the brand offers generous extras.

Does Saatva make mattresses for kids and babies?

Saatva's expanded its mattress lineup to ensure all ages can experience the brand's signature "Smarter Luxury Sleep."

The Saatva Youth Mattress (pictured) is a dual-sided hybrid designed to grow with your child. One side is Plush Soft for younger children (ages 3-7) and the other is Medium-Firm for older kids (ages 8-12). It also features targeted lumbar support, just like Saatva's mattresses for grown-ups.

There's also the Saatva Bunk & Trundle Mattress, which has a Medium bed feel to lend balanced support to kids, teenagers. It can even be used as a guest bed, but keep in mind that it has a 6" profile, which is quite short for most adults.

The Saatva Crib Mattress sports a dual-sided design to accommodate babies and toddlers. Notable here is the double-edge support to ensure your little one stays in the center of the crib.

Should you buy a Saatva mattress in the July 4th sales?

Saatva's July 4th mattress sales are live, and with our semi-exclusive lin,k you can save $400 on all orders over $1,000 at Saatva. This matches the deal we saw for Black Friday 2024 and Memorial Day sales a month ago.

At $1,699 for a queen Saatva Classic after the above discount, it's close to the lowest price of the year, although we did spot it for $10 less during Sleep Week in March.

Saatva mattress sales are semi-regular, but this discount is bigger than usual and tends to be reserved for major sales days. If you have your eye on the Classic, Murphy Bed Mattress, Memory Foam Hybrid, or Latex Hybrid, now is the time to shop.

However, for the specialist Saatva mattresses, you might want to wait for the next 15% off sale, which is likely to net you the biggest saving. However, these deals are sporadic and short-lived, so you need to be on the ball.

Do Saatva mattresses come in a box?

Tom's Guide Saatva Classic testers rotate the mattress on a white wooden bedframe

No, Saatva mattresses don’t come in a box. They are shipped flat to avoid durable steel coils used in innerspring mattresses getting bent out of shape during the process of rolling up the mattress. It’s also to prevent off-gassing, which is the chemical smell that emanates from mattresses after they've been vacuum sealed and wrapped up in a box.

While the best mattresses in a box are designed for easy set up, Saatva does provide white-glove delivery service. This type of service means a delivery team will set up your mattress in a room of your choice and also remove your old mattress – a perk not readily offered by most competing brands.

Are Saatva mattresses worth the money?

If you're wondering how much Saatva mattresses costs, they don’t come cheap. In fact, MSRPs continue to increase for most models, albeit a trend not exclusive to Saatva. Regardless, Saatva remains more affordable than many of the best luxury mattresses and has an edge over similar in-store brands that are marked up significantly to cover overhead costs.

Based on our experiences as expert mattress testers and thousands of 5-star reviews, it’s clear you get what you pay for with Saatva. These mattresses are handmade to order in the USA and include a lifetime mattress warranty, a sign that the brand has full trust in the integrity of its products. Saatva also offers a 1-year mattress trial plus free white glove delivery with optional removal of your old mattress.

Saatva sales and deals take place all year long, with the strongest offers happening around Black Friday and major shopping holidays. However, if you’re working with a limited budget, there are plenty of exceptional, more affordable alternatives — which you can find at even greater discounts during regular mattress sales.

Do Saatva mattresses have fiberglass?

No, Saatva mattresses do not contain fiberglass. While some cheaper mattresses use the potentially dangerous material as a flame barrier, Saatva mattresses use safe, non-toxic materials, such as natural thistle and organic New Zealand wool, as flame retardants instead.
