Hot summer nights are coming, and if you're already dreading their impact on your sleep then a cooling mattress could be your wisest purchase. Now is a good time to buy too, as the Avocado Green mattress, now $2,039 for a queen with 15% off at Avocado, is on sale. We awarded this supportive organic bed full marks for cooling comfort and recommend it as 'hot-sleeper safe'.

The Avocado is our top-rated organic mattress and when it comes to full-body support, it rivals even the best mattresses you can buy online. It's also ideal for summer, thanks to a breathable build that banishes night sweats.

Sleep cool on hot summer nights

Summer is on the horizon and I've already noticed the effect of warmer nights on my sleep. And with the Farmers' Almanac predicting hotter than usual summers for most of the U.S., you can expect some stifling weather ahead.

If night sweats and overheating are stopping you from achieving the rest you need, you might want to invest in one of the best cooling mattresses — and we awarded the Avocado Green Mattress full marks for temperature regulation.

Natural materials such as latex and cotton (both used in the Avocado) are breathable, while the open springs of a hybrid bed aid air circulation. So heat is kicked out, fresh air comes in, and you sleep soundly at the perfect temperature.

This might be the lowest price you'll get

I've seen some pretty steep price rises across the mattress world in recent months, including at Avocado. (Saatva, WinkBed and Cocoon by Sealy are among other popular brands impacted.)

Add on that summer has traditionally been a time when mattress brands increase prices, and I'm predicting the Avocado Green will be costlier before the year is out.

In simple terms, right now is probably the cheapest the Avocado Green mattress will be moving forward.

Alternatives to consider

Avocado is isn't the only best mattress sale happening right now. Here are three great value deals you can shop now with confidence that a better price is unlikely to come along in late May...

1. Awara Classic Hybrid (twin)
1. Awara Classic Hybrid (twin): $499 at Awara Sleep

Like Avocado, Awara uses organic latex, wool and a layer of springs to create supportive and eco-friendly comfort. We haven't tested this model but the original Awara Natural Hybrid Mattress impressed our review team with its responsive feel and breathable design. A queen is always $799, which is an excellent price for a latex bed, and a 365-night trial and forever warranty are included.

2. WinkBed (twin)
2. WinkBed (twin): $999 at WinkBeds

The WinkBed is among the best mattresses for back pain we've tested thanks to its integrated lumbar support and durability testing. Plus, it comes in three firmness levels, so you can pick the feel for your needs. A queen is $1,799 or, if you weight over 250lbs, there's a Plus model for $1,999. Looking for a greener choice? The EcoCloud is WinkBed's luxury organic model and is also $1,999 for a queen.

3. DreamCloud Classic Hybrid (twin)
3. DreamCloud Classic Hybrid (twin): $349 at DreamCloud

The best mattress in a box we've tested, thr DreamCloud is a good all-rounder that delivers a touch of luxury for a mid-range budget (a queen is only $649.) If you aren't in a rush to buy there's a chance DreamCloud will offer a free bedding bundle closer to Memorial Day itself but it's unlikely the price will drop lower than this.
