The Memorial Day sales are your last chance to save big on cooling bedding before summer arrives, and what better way to heatwave-proof your bed than Tempur-Pedic's No. 1 cooling mattress topper? During our testing, the Tempur-Adapt + Cooling Mattress Topper, which is now up to $160 off at Tempur-Pedic with code TOPPERS, impressed us with its plush comfort and cool-to-the-touch cover.

This little-known discount code takes a queen Adapt + Cooling Mattress Topper from $429 to $309, which is a huge saving from one of the brands behind the best mattresses on the market. This mattress topper is rarely on sale at Tempur-Pedic, and there are currently no deals on this model at Amazon, so this hidden deal shouldn't be missed.

Need more incentive to buy? The Old Farmer's Almanac predicted that this summertime will be "hotter than normal". So the Memorial Day mattress sales are an excellent time to invest in cooling toppers and bedding, like the Adapt + Cooling Mattress Topper.

Save $80
Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Adapt + Cooling Mattress Topper (twin): was $329 now $249 at Tempur-Pedic

The Tempur-Adapt + Cooling Mattress Topper is the best mattress topper we've tested, offering the premium pressure relief of Tempur-Pedic's hugely popular mattresses for over a $1,000 less even at MSRP. So the 30% off discount code TOPPERS offers superb value for money. The biggest saving occurs when you buy a king, saving you up to $160. Unfortunately, Tempur-Pedic doesn't offer a sleep trail or returns, but they do offer a generous a 10-year limited warranty.

Specialist cooling cover and side-sleeper comfort

The Tempur+ Adapt + Cooling is a cooling upgrade to the original Tempur-Adapt Mattress Topper. In our original Tempur-Adapt Mattress Topper review, we were unimpressed with the heat buildup it caused (despite bringing body-hugging comfort), but Tempur-Adapt promises to fix this bug with a temperature-regulating cover that draws heat away from the surface.

It works. While testing the upgrade for our Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Adapt + Cooling Mattress Topper review, our lead tester reported that it "exceeded her expectations" and "didn't wake up sweaty one with this topper". However, if you're a chronic hot sleeper all year-round, we suggest checking out our guide to the best cooling mattress.

As for the comfort and support, the Tempur-Adapt + Cooling offers sink-in softness that's ideal for side sleepers who want to make their bed plusher but aren't in the market for the best mattress for side sleepers. Stomach sleepers, however, may find that it's too soft to keep their spine aligned.

As for the design, it has the high quality you'd expect from Temour-Pedic. The cove is removable and machine-washable for an easy clean, and it also feature anchor straps to keep the topper in place on your bed.

If you want more luxurious cooling but for less...

The Tempur-Adapt + Cooling Mattress Topper may be the best memory foam mattress topper in our opinion, but there are other great mattress toppers on the market that offer cooling for less.

Take the Hybrid Lux Mattress Topper, which is 25% off at Viscosoft and down to $209.95 (was $274.95) for a queen. This mattress topper has a hotel-style hybrid design, with a cooling gel-infused foam base and a breathable pillow top that our Viscosoft Hybrid Lux Mattress Topper review "dreamy".

Viscosoft Hybrid Lux Mattress Topper (twin): was $219.95 now $169.95 at ViscoSoft

Mattress sales are regular at Viscosoft, with a 25% discount on the Hybrid Lux being the norm. We tested the 4" version, which is $209.95 for a queen with the 25% off deal. You can also grab a 3" version at $149.95 for a twin, but be aware that popular sizes (such as a queen and a king) are often sold out in this height. Unlike Tempur-Pedic, Viscosoft do offer a sleep trial (and it lasts 90 nights), plus a five-year warranty.
