The Texas A&M Aggies started the season as a top-25-ranked side. Many pundits felt the Aggies were a dark horse playoff contender, but an indifferent season saw A&M finish with an 8-4 record.
The USC Trojans started the season ranked in the top 25 as well, but inconsistency and late-game struggles caused USC to stumble to a 6-6 record. The Trojans held fourth-quarter leads in 11 of their 12 games but found difficulty in closing games out.
The Trojans go into the game as three-point underdogs. The Aggies are arguably more experienced but have significant questions to answer.
The additional problem for USC is that 19 players have now entered the transfer portal. Therefore, coach Lincoln Riley will have to start some of the younger members of his squad.
