The first ever NHL Winter Classic to take place in the Sunshine State sees the back-to-back reigning champion Panthers face the Rangers at LoanDepot Park, home to the MLB's Marlins. Featuring flamingos, pelicans, iguanas and an artificial snow storm, it's set to be quite a production, not least because they'll be playing in front of t-shirt- and sundress-clad fans enjoying 18-degree Celsius weather under a fully retracted roof.

You can watch NHL Winter Classic 2026 live streams from anywhere with a VPN and potentially for FREE.

Paul Maurice didn't even try to hide his annoyance on Tuesday, after the Panthers let a 2-0 lead slip in the last five minutes of their clash with the Canadiens, before losing 3-2 in OT. But New Year is as good a time as any to count your blessings, and the Winter Classic being staged in Miami is a monument to Florida's manifold successes.

Despite the long-term injuries to Matthew Tkachuk, who returned to practice on Sunday, and captain Aleksander Barkov, they're fourth in the Atlantic Division, trailing the leaders by just four points. While it would be astonishing if Tkachuk played any part in the Winter Classic, his progress alone should be enough to electrify the crowd.

Brad Marchand leads the Panthers in goals (21), assists (21) and points (42) this NHL 25/26 season, and he's gone 3-0 in outdoor games. The Islanders, fourth from bottom in the Eastern Conference pecking order, should brace for a long evening.
