When four co-workers awake in their Caribbean villa to discover a stranger shot dead in their pool, their hangovers are the least of their worries. It doesn’t take long for DI Mervin Wilson (Don Gilet) and his team to discover the murder weapon, however the fact that it was locked up safe in a draw in Swindon when the murder took place on the sunkissed island leaves the gang with quite the head scratcher.
With the holidaymaking suspects all pleading innocent, the team find themselves caught up in a web of secrets and criminal activity, and in need of boots on the ground back in Blighty, an old colleague spending the holidays in the UK is drafted in to help.
But it wouldn't be “Death in Paradise” if the brutal bloodshed wasn't offset by some seasonal shenanigans, and this year, Mervin finds himself caught up in the local nativity, while grappling with his own familial issues.

Are there any Death in Paradise spin-off Christmas specials?
There are two Death in Paradise spin-offs: the Kris Marshall-fronted Beyond Paradise and the Australian-set Return to Paradise.
Return is yet to offer a festive outing, while Beyond will air its third Christmas special earlier in the festive period, airing on December 21 in the UK.
