As an avid snowboarder for 20+ years and a price-conscious shopper, nothing burns me more than investing in gear that ultimately doesn't hold up. On the flip side, over two decades, a small selection of accessories and apparel has earned its way into the upper echelon of my snowboard bag.
I'm talking about lightweight mid-layers that continue to keep the chill out going on 12 seasons straight, while asking little in return, aside from an occasional re-waterproofing, like my beloved Patagonia Nano Puff Jacket (currently on sale for 30% off via REI).
Other honorable mentions include my favorite Smartwool base layers and ski socks that magically keep me warm, dry, and well ventilated in any condition, season after season, whether I'm shredding in below-freezing temps or on sunny spring days.
However, not all my go-tos are from fancy brands or cost an arm and a leg. For example, I never hit the mountains without packing a trusty $7 roll of Tenacious Gear Repair Tape.
Looking for more proven ski and snowboard essentials? Find links to all nine of my all-time favorite pieces of winter mountain gear below. See you on the slopes!
