Should you wait for the Black Friday mattress sales?

You can enjoy mattress sales year-round but Black Friday is traditionally the biggest of them all. Waiting until late-November might save you extra on the bed of your dreams, but how much can you actually expect to save?

Many mattress brands run percentage discounts, meaning premium models get the biggest saving. For example, a queen Helix Midnight Luxe is now $1.999 in the sale. If Helix matches its Memorial Day discount, that could drop to $1,824.

Overall, we expect extra savings of $100-$300 from most brands for a queen size. But there are some deals not worth waiting for: DreamCloud, Nectar and WinkBed are likely to stick to same saving we've seen year-round.

Black Friday mattress sales 2026: Predictions and analysis

2026 has been a mixed year for mattress sales. On the one hand, it's felt like there's been a major sale every other week. You've barely waved goodbye to the President's Day mattress sales before the Memorial Day mattress deals kick off, then it's Prime Day, July 4th, another Amazon sale. There's hardly been a minute to catch your breath.

But with almost non-stop sales, it almost feels like there hasn't been a discount at all. Perhaps that's why mattress sales have fallen by 9.7% during 2026 (while prices have risen by 5% on average.)

Or perhaps shoppers are waiting for a sale that really catches their eye. Research by Bain shows that 64% of shoppers are waiting for Black Friday to make their purchases — up from 55% in 2025. And a massive 90% of consumers intend to shop over Black Friday and Cyber Monday. These are the trends we expect you to be shopping.

Customers want luxury — mattress brands will deliver
Mintel identifies that US shoppers are reconsidering 'value' and 'long-lasting quality' amidst the rising cost of living. For those looking to invest in long-term sleep comfort, luxury brands such as Saatva and hotel mattress brands like Marriott have historically held major sales over Black Friday.

Expect a focus on wellness
The days of 'I'll sleep when I'm dead' are long gone. It's all about sleepmaxxing, longevity, and knocking out that eight hours. Expect sales from Sleep Number, Eight Sleep and other best smart beds that put the emphasis on actively improving your sleep, as you sleep.

US Shoppers are rethinking what “value” means... they’re paying closer attention to comfort, adaptability, sustainability

Tariffs and supply chains continue to cause problems
Mattress prices have risen in 2026, there's no way around it. A queen Saatva Classic was $2,139 MSRP this time last year — it's now $2,229. But these price rises are set to continue, making Black Friday 2026 likely to be the best time to shop moving forward.

The best budget deals will be on Amazon
Amazon remains the place to find a deal on the best cheap mattresses (even though Prime Day was decidedly disappointing.) We're keeping our fingers crossed that the retail giant makes up for it on Black Friday.

More eco-friendly discounts
It took a while for many of our favorite organic mattresses to get in on the deals game but brands like Essentia, Naturepedic and Avocado now rarely lat a holiday go by without a price drop.

Free gifts can sweeten the deal...
But don't let a gift trick you into buying a bed you don't want. Brands like Tempur-Pedic and Cocoon by Sealy sometimes offer free bedding or a discount. But shop savvy on Black Friday and you might be able to snag both.

Black Friday mattress sales FAQ

When is Black Friday 2026?

The countdown to Black Friday 2026 is on. Black Friday falls on 27th November 2026. This is the Friday immediately after Thanksgiving, as retailers use the extended holiday weekend to get people shopping the sales.

Cyber Monday, another major mattress sale day, is the following Monday: Monday 30th November, 2026.

But while those are the official dates, the actual sales are likely to get underway much sooner. Black Friday discounts already started appearing in late October and the majority of mattress sales should be underway by mid-November.

Is Black Friday a good time to buy a mattress?

Black Friday has historically been the biggest mattress sale of the year. But that title has come under pressure in recent years, with many brands repeating their sales over Memorial Day in May and even Labor Day in September.

But we still think Black Friday will be the best time to buy a mattress in 2026. Primarily because of the breadth of deals. As well as sleep brands, retailers such as Amazon, Walmart, Mattress Firm and Macy's join in on the fun over Black Friday. That means more choice so you can find the perfect discount.

Black Friday is also the best time to save on your entire sleep set-up, with discounts on pillows, bedding and sleep tech accessories.

And we're hoping the holiday will entice some deals-shy brands to break out the biggest discounts (we're looking at you, Purple and Tempur-Pedic.)

Black Friday vs Cyber Monday: Which mattress deals are better?

Cyber Monday is the Monday directly after Black Friday. This year, that's Monday 30th November. Black Friday and Cyber Monday are the big mattress sales days to mark the end of the year but which is better?

In store, the Black Friday mattress sales win hands-down. But if you're shopping online for one of the best mattresses in a box, there's little to choose between the two. Most brands will start their sale in the run up to Black Friday and the same deal will continue until after Cyber Monday.

But there are likely to be a few exceptions. Some sleep brands will run Black Friday specific offers, while others will reserve deals exclusively for Cyber Monday. These will typically be add-ons, such as a free gift, rather than a new discount.

For the most part, however, sleep brands will run the same saving from Friday 27th November through to Monday 30th November.
