The Harley J. Earl Trophy is pretty much the only prize that's eluded two-time Cup Series champion and 63-time race winner Kyle Busch, but for the very first time in his glittering career, he's starting the Daytona 500 in pole position. Is it to be 21st time lucky for the 40-year-old at Daytona International Speedway?

You can watch 2026 Daytona 500 live streams from anywhere with a VPN and potentially for FREE.

The Daytona 500 fires the starter pistol on the Nascar Cup Series, but the season-opener is every bit as prestigious as the overall championship title.

The ominous thing from Busch's perspective is that pole position rarely leads to Daytona 500 victory. The last racer to convert pole into a win was Dale Jarrett in 2000, and it's only been done nine times in total.

Back-to-back winner William Byron beat Chase Briscoe to the checkered flag a year ago, and Joey Logano 12 months before that. He's starting from 35th this Sunday, with Briscoe sharing the front row, and Duel 1 winner Logano on the inside line right behind Busch. Logano is one of the favorites, along with Ryan Blaney, who'll be on his tail from thr green flag.

There is, however, potential for disruption. The Daytona Beach weather forecast is predicting scattered showers and thunderstorms, and it isn't uncommon for the Daytona 500 to be pushed back. Last year's race was delayed by almost three hours, while previous editions have been pushed back to Monday or even Tuesday.
