Just like the original exhibition that ran from 1983 to 2008 and featured fun, laughter and plenty of banter, each hole holds a dollar value with whoever shoots the lowest score winning the prize pot. Halved (or tied) holes are rolled over until the next hole one of the players wins outright. In a fascinating 'reverse purse' twist, every player starts on $1m (as opposed to $0 in previous editions) as their fortunes go up and down depending on whether they win or lose the hole

Fleetwood will start as favorite as something of a matchplay maestro after winning more points at the 2025 Ryder Cup than anyone else. The Englishman is also the reigning FedExCup champion, his first title on the PGA Tour after much success on the DP World Tour. Fleetwood's European teammate Shane Lowry has three PGA Tour victories and won the 2019 British Open – he boasts the temperament to go well.

Schauffele and Bradley complete the select four-man exhibition. The U.S. stars featured as player and captain respectively in the Ryder Cup, with Bradley determined to do better with a club in his hand than as skipper at Bethpage Black. Justin Thomas, co-designer of Panther National with the great Jack Nicklaus, was scheduled to tee it up but back surgery has put paid to his involvement in the rejigged event, traditionally held over Thanksgiving. He was replaced by Lowry.

The trash talk – all good-natured for this exhibition – has already started, too.

“I had so much material against JT,” Schauffele said of the missing Thomas. “I’ll have to ask ChatGPT how to talk smack to these guys because he was going to be my sole target.” Bradley, referring to Fleetwood and Lowry, has promised this is "my chance to get back at these two maniacs" after the Ryder Cup.

Basically, expect chaos.

The Skins Game FAQs

Who is playing in The Skins Game?

Tommy Fleetwood – reigning FedExCup champion and 2025 Ryder Cup points leader

Shane Lowry – three-time PGA Tour winner and 2019 Open champion

Xander Schauffele – two-time major champion

Keegan Bradley – eight-time PGA Tour winner and recent US Ryder Cup captain

What is The Skins Game format?

For fans of the original Skins Game that ran from 1983 to 2008, the format is very similar, albeit slightly tweaked.

Each hole carries a certain dollar value – usually increasing in value over the course – and whoever wins the hole wins the monetary value attached to it. On any hole that is halved (or tied), the money is rolled over until the next hole where one player outright shoots the lowest score. That means a hefty wedge (geddit?) with multiple hole's worth of money up for grabs.

The twist is the so-called 'reverse purse' format. Whereby in the past, competitors started at $0, they now all begin with $1m on the scoreboard and their pot will rise or fall depending on whether they win or lose the hole.

Who are the most recent Skins Game winners?

2002 - Mark O'Meara
