If you can't stretch to the price of a high-end mattress but would still like to invest in a quality bed that feels luxurious, you can find some impressive options that are under $1,000 for a queen size. And for us, the Best Mid-Range Mattress right now is the DreamCloud Classic Hybrid mattress, a fantastic option that will suit most people.
A big part of its appeal is its unbeatable value: a queen size will cost you $699 (and you'll get freebies during major sales events), it's made with high-quality materials and it's comfortable and supportive in nearly all sleep positions. We've just re-tested the DreamCloud Classic Hybrid and found that it's still worthy of its inclusion in our best mattress of the year guide.
To learn why what makes this mattress so special, and why we think it's the best mid-range option to shop in the Black Friday mattress deals, read on. And for more winning options, whatever your sleep requirements, take a look at our full Tom's Guide Sleep Awards listings.
What makes the DreamCloud such a classic?
The DreamCloud Classic Hybrid has been around for quite some time, and while its name and composition have been adjusted over the years, it's always delivered on its promise of affordable luxury. The latest version is possibly the best yet — which is why it's our Best Mid-Range Mattress award-winner — with a straightforward hybrid design that provides a medium feel suitable for most sleepers.
It's a 12" mattress with four internal layers: a top layer of therapeutic memory foam that contours to your body, a more responsive foam layer that adapts to your movements, a layer of 8.5" individually-wrapped support coils, and a dense layer of base foam. It's a design that helped it earn it's place in this year's best hybrid mattress guide.
It's topped with a breathable cover that should make a real difference to hot sleepers; the DreamCloud has always had a reputation for retaining heat, but the latest model is much better at temperature regulation.
The DreamCloud Classic Hybrid is hard to beat for its price, but there are some strong competing options on the market that came close when we were considering the worthiest mattress for this award.

We're big fans of the more expensive Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Hybrid, which is similarly luxurious with impressive cooling powers, and if you want something even cheaper than the DreamCloud, we'd point you towards the very affordable Siena Premier Hybrid, which punches well above its price tag.
But in our latest tests, the DreamCloud impressed from the very first night. Our lead tester found it instantly comfortable, and noted that despite its softer-than-expected feel she didn't sink too far into it, and felt suitably comfortable and supported in all the right places.
It's important to note, however, that we found stomach sleepers would do best to steer clear, as the DreamCloud is a little too soft to provide adequate support in that position.
Where the DreamCloud really stands out, though, is in its exceptional value for money. With prices starting at just $399 for a twin in the Black Friday DreamCloud mattress sale, and with a free bedding bundle included, it delivers a hell of a lot of bang for your buck.
Ultimately, it makes good on its promise of being an affordable luxury mattress, and if you're looking for the best mid-range mattress, this should be top of your shopping list.
