‘Better than any sleep aid’ — save $400 on the mattress I can't be without
I’m privileged in my job to sleep on any mattress I want, but this is the one I keep running back to every chance I get

My friends call me a mattress nerd, and they’re right. I’ve tested every type of mattress you can buy, and have slept on beds made by the world’s best brands such as Saatva, Purple, Casper, Emma, Nectar, DreamCloud, and many more.
However despite 2025 marking the arrival of a few seriously comfy new beds, there’s one I keep coming back to time after time: the Saatva Classic. To me, this luxury innerspring hybrid is the pinnacle of sleep comfort and worth every cent, especially when it’s on sale like it is right now thanks to $400 off mattresses at Saatva.
The Classic is the top-rated option in our best mattress of the year buying guide because it suits nearly all sleepers. I think it’s fantastic value at $1,739 for a queen size handcrafted mattress jam-packed with toxin-free materials.
Here’s why I recommend it to most people shopping for a super-comfy option in the Labor Day mattress sales…
Saatva Classic: twin was $1,399 now $999 at Saatva
The Saatva Classic is the number one rated pick in our best hybrid mattress guide, earning a 5/5 review score. I’ve been tracking this brand’s deals for years and I know that the best Saatva mattress sale you’ll get on the Classic is $400 off in every size. That's the discount I’m seeing now. The Saatva Classic currently costs $1,739 for a queen, and I’d eat my hat if the price dropped any lower this Labor Day. There is a chance it could increase in price though (see below) once the Labor Day sales are over, so I recommend buying now to get what is likely to be the Classic's cheapest price for the rest of this year.
How much does the Saatva Classic cost in 2025?
Tariffs have started hitting the US mattress industry and Saatva is not immune. The queen size Classic has increased by $40 since the last major sale (Memorial Day), and now costs $1,739 compared to the slightly cheaper price of $1,699 earlier this year.
Personally, I think $1,739 is still excellent value for a mattress that, as I explain in our Saatva Classic mattress review, aced all of our critical mattress tests and scored favorable review scores from 9/10 people I asked to try it.
However if tariffs have forced once price hike this year, there’s every chance they will again. My advice? If you want the Saatva Classic, buy it while this Saatva Labor Day sale is still running as I doubt it will get any cheaper this year – but it could become more expensive.
Smaller budget? Try this instead…
I’ve just finished my third round of fully retesting the Saatva Classic, and straight after I retested the DreamCloud Classic from cover to base.
New review data is coming for each mattress soon, but I’m more certain than ever that the DreamCloud is the absolute best mattress in a box for most sleepers and for the money.
It doesn’t beat the Saatva in terms of performance, build quality or materials, but it offers a lot of comfort and support for over $1,100 less.
And I’d also argue that the current DreamCloud mattress sale has the best value deal you'll find this Labor Day: a queen DreamCloud Classic for $649 plus $599 of free bedding. Here’s the skinny…
DreamCloud Classic: twin was $1,148 now $399 at DreamCloud
The Saatva can’t be beaten on quality or performance, but it gets an absolute kicking from the DreamCloud in terms of price. My team and I have just emerged from two days in the lab re-testing every inch of this hybrid mattress and it scored very well – even holding its own against more premium mattresses in critical tests such as temperature regulation and pressure relief. This deal is a belter too: $649 for a queen size DreamCloud Classic plus $599 of free luxury hotel-style bedding.
I love the Saatva, and will always recommend it as the best of the best, but this DreamCloud deal is outstanding and a superb choice for couples, and average weight people who sleep in any position.
It's a little softer than previous models though, so if you’re heavier you may feel more of a hammocking effect on your back, hips and legs. If you want something firmer, pick the Saatva or look at The WinkBed or The Plank Firm.
