3 cooling mattress deals we'd snap up ahead of a summer set to be 'much hotter than normal', according to Farmer's Almanac

Bad news for hot sleepers: if rising temperatures are already making you feel uncomfortably warm at night, things might be getting worse soon.

According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, this summer is going to see hotter-than-normal temperatures across much of North America, with things getting particularly steamy in July and August. Pretty much everywhere except Upper Midwest and Heartland is likely to feel warmer than usual, and if you're not prepared then you could be in for a long stretch of sleepless nights.

Today's best cooling mattress deal

Bear Elite Hybrid Mattress (twin)
Best of the best
Save 35%
Bear Elite Hybrid Mattress (twin): was $1,998 now $1,298 at Bear Mattress

We rate the Bear Elite Hybrid as the best cooling mattress you can buy. This luxurious bed features a Celliant cover that provides active cooling and feels cool to the touch, and its hybrid design means that it excels at thermal regulation. If you're a really hot sleeper we'd suggest dropping an extra $200 on the advanced cooling upgrade that adds a layer of phase change material. Right now there's 35% off at Bear in their Early Access Memorial Day sale, which gets you a queen for $1,484.60 (was $2,284).

More cooling mattress sales

If you're in a hurry to sort yourself out with a cooling bed, we've made things easy with a quick roundup of the three best options to buy today. There are beds for all budgets, they all deliver when it comes to keeping temperatures down at night, and they're all discounted in this month's mattress sales.

Keep in mind, though, that the Memorial Day mattress sales are just around the corner (though Bear currently has an Early Access Memorial Day sale that is now live), which means that if you can hang on for a couple of weeks you'll probably be able to pick up these beds for a slightly lower price.

Right now, though, they're all well-priced for what they deliver, so don't wait around if things are already getting a bit too hot between the sheets...

Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Hybrid Mattress (twin)
Mid-range winner
Save 25%
Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Pro Hybrid Mattress (twin): was $932 now $699 at Brooklyn Bedding

If your budget doesn't stretch to the Bear Elite Hybrid, we'd direct you to the CopperFlex Pro Hybrid from Brooklyn Bedding. It's a mid-range mattress with a luxurious feel and specialist cooling features including a GlacioTex cover and copper-infused memory foam that wicks heat away effectively. In the Brooklyn Bedding spring sale there's 25% off, bringing the price of a queen down to $999 (was $1,332); if you can wait until Memorial Day we'd expect that price to come down to $932, though.

Siena Signature 10" Mattress (twin)
Bargain cooling
Siena Signature 10" Mattress (twin): $159 at Siena

Want to keep cool on a budget? You won't find a better deal than the Siena 10" Signature mattress. With a queen on sale for $294 right now it's an absolute steal, and despite being an all-foam mattress with no specific cooling features beyond a 'breathable' cover we found that it dissipated heat impressively quickly in our thermal imaging tests. It isolates motion well and delivers fantastic edge support, but its firm feel and lack of memory foam 'hug' means that it's unlikely to be a comfortable fit for side sleepers.
