The Dodgers are Commissioner's Trophy favorites after going back-to-back for the first time in franchise history, yet recent trends indicate that this could be the most open MLB era in some time. Since its expansion, we've seen a playoff field turnover of nearly 50% from season to season. Mets, Brave and Royals fans in particular have grounds for optimism.
You can watch MLB live streams from anywhere with a VPN and potentially for free.
The 2026 Major League Baseball season runs from March 25 to September 27.
• U.K. — BBC iPlayer (FREE select games)
• U.S. — ESPN, TBS, FOX, NBC, FS1, MLB Network (via Sling TV), MLB.tv, Apple TV Plus, ESPN Unlimited, Netflix, Peacock
• Watch anywhere — Try NordVPN 100% risk free
The Blue Jays are a case in point. They ended a 32-year World Series drought to reach the Fall Classic for the first time since 1993 last season and came agonizingly close to glory, with who else but Shohei Ohtani proving the difference. Venezuela's World Baseball Classic triumph and Italy's giant-killing feats won't be forgotten in a hurry either.
The Blue Jays may have lost Bo Bichette, but the additions of Dylan Cease and Kazuma Okamoto have lifted the mood around the reigning AL champions. Bichette, incidentally, is now plying his trade for the Mets, who have also signed Luis Robert Jr. and Freddy Peralta. With Juan Soto already at Citi Field, there's real hope that they can end their drought at 40 years.
The Mariners are shaping up nicely after their breakthrough season, which yielded a maiden division title and second playoff appearance since 2001. With MLB All-Star Brendan Donovan in the building, they're looking to make history with a first ever World Series title.
