A new Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro leak
There's been a rumour circulating for a while now that next year's Samsung Galaxy S27 series will include a fourth member. We're expecting the Galaxy S27, S27 Plus and S27 Ultra variants, but we could also see the arrival of the Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro. We actually had a similar rumour for the S26 family, which didn't turn out to be true.
Regardless, according to a new leak (via GSMArena), the Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro will be a "mini-Ultra without an S Pen." It will allegedly have a 6.47-inch screen and, if Samsung sticks to its usual event calendar, will arrive in the early part of next year.

But I decided to buck the trend and cancel it. So let’s look at three of the major perks and see if they’re really worth the subscription.

The price hike we knew was coming

Is Apple building a 'Spatial iPhone'?
This is one of the stranger rumours we've seen about upcoming iPhone features. According to a MacRumors report citing a leaker known as Schrödinger on X, Samsung is developing a holographic display that could be used in an upcoming "Spatial iPhone".
Apparently, this rumoured display would be different from glasses-free 3D displays we've seen in the past (think Nintendo 3DS) by employing diffractive beam-steering. Paired with advanced eye-tracking, this technique uses microscopic structures inside the display to bend and redirect light towards your eyes at more precise angles.
Let's just hope that if this does end up becoming a reality, it fares better than the disastrous Amazon Fire Phone back in 2014.
Should Whoop be worried?

Tom's Guide thanks YOU!
If there's one thing that makes this job amazing, it's interacting directly with our readers.
A recent article about Roku and TCL being accused of 'bricking' TVs due to poor software updates sparked a lot of conversation among our readers, thanks to some well-thought-out, intelligent comments.
"It wasn't just the picture bricks after updates, my TCL was freezing up and taking forever to load up," commented one reader.
I spent 2 hours in chat yesterday with no resolution, but our TV no longer has sound. It says headphones are plugged in. They are not. We've done a factory reset, everything. Nothing has fixed it. TV is no longer usable," said another.
For a more detailed rundown on some of the best reader comments, we've featured them in the article below:

Apple agrees $250m class action settlement
Apple has agreed to pay $250 million to settle a class action lawsuit alleging it misled over 30 million iPhone users into believing the AI-powered "Siri 2.0" was ready for them to use back in 2024 through a series of adverts.
This could mean a payout of anything from $25 to $95 to eligible iPhone owners if the judge approves the settlement.

If you can't beat 'em...

The iPhone Fold isn't even out yet and smartphone makers are scrambling to deliver designs that will look like Apple's first foldable. The latest leak comes via the @thecipherproject on Telegram, showing renders of the alleged Galaxy Z Fold Wide.
Just like the iPhone Fold, the Galaxy Z Fold Wide is tipped to feature a wide, passbook-like form factor. The benefit? A more pocket-friendly device when closed and a display that doesn't have ugly black bars when open. And just like the iPhone Fold, this alleged wide Galaxy Fold has only two rear cameras.

iPhone 18 Pro tipped for redesigned Dynamic Island
According to a set of alleged CAD designs shared on X/Twitter, Apple could be shrinking the Dynamic Island cut-out on the iPhone 18 Pro.
The images, shared by @earlyappleleaks yesterday, show a much smaller Dynamic Island than we've seen since the iPhone 14 Pro. The feature is still noticeably pill-like, rather than a circular punch-hole similar to Android handsets. But as ever with leaks like this, take it with a pinch of salt.
iPhone 17 ranked as the world's best-selling smartphone for Q1 2026
According to the latest data from Counterpoint Research, the iPhone 17 captured 6% of global smartphone sales in the first quarter of 2016. That makes it the world's best-selling smartphone for the first quarter of this year. We gave the iPhone 17 a 4.5 star rating when we reviewed it last year, saying it had better upgrades than even the Pro models.
But Apple can rest assured that demand for the 17 Pro Max and 17 Pro models was also very high; they captured the second and third positions respectively.
"The top 10 smartphones contributed 25% of global unit sales, the highest Q1 concentration ever. This was driven by sustained demand for the iPhone 17 series, alongside pressure on Android OEMs in mass-market segments as the ongoing memory shortage pushes up component costs," Counterpoint Research wrote.
The viral pillow everyone is talking about
The Eli and Elm Side Sleeper comes in two variants (latex and memory foam) and two sizes (queen and king). It also includes a 45-day return policy, a 5-year warranty and free shipping. You can now get up to 15% off a single pillow in Eli and Elm's Spring Sale, bringing the price down to $107.99 (was $134.99).
"In just one week, I was sleeping better than I have in years," is a blog claim, but that's exactly what Tom's Guide Sleep Writer Becky George claimed in our recent hands (head) on with the Eli and Elm Side Sleeper Pillow.
Apparently, it's a fantastic pillow. George claims that "it really is as good as everyone says it is," which is quite impressive when you consider how viral this thing is at the moment.
The Side Sleeper Pillow is one of Eli and Elm's top sellers, and is currently priced at $107.99 for a queen and $115.99 for a king
Amazon adds 365-day price tracking

That's why I'm rounding up the best movies that just landed on streaming so you don't waste your precious time with a dud. Whether you're looking for a gothic romance a la "Wuthering Heights" or a family family adventure like Pixar's hit "Hoppers," there's something for everybody on our weekend watchlist.
Huge recall
Popular cup maker Thermos has issued a gigantic recall of 8.2 million bottles after stoppers eject, potentially hitting users in the face. In total, the company is recalling 5.8 million Stainless King Food Jars and 2.3 million Sportsman Food & Beverage Bottles.
While it sounds painful to get in the face with a Thermos stopped, some buyers have even reported vision loss, which sounds absolutely terrible.
You can read the full recall notice on the CPSC website, but if you own either of the cups mentioned above, you'll want to take action as soon as possible to avoid the risk of a stopper striking the face, which could cause vision loss.
"The hazard stems from a design flaw in the stopper — the component that retains heat and prevents leakage. If perishable food or beverages are stored for an extended period, pressure can build up and cause the stopper to forcefully eject when the container is opened. Unlike safer designs, the stopper on the recalled models lacks a pressure-relief valve," reads the website.
Mac mini and Mac Studio stock not looking good
Apple held its earnings call, during which Tim Cook discussed the supply issues the company is facing with the Mac mini and Mac Studio. It's incredibly difficult to find either computer, and it appears that we're looking at a few months before anything changes.
"We think, looking forward, that the Mac mini and Mac Studio may take several months to reach supply-demand balance," Cook said. "Both of these are amazing platforms for AI and agentic tools, and the customer recognition of that is happening faster than what we had predicted, and so we saw higher than expected demand."
It sounds like another RAMAgadeon casualty and one that almost certainly won't be the last.
The Garmin deal we recommend!
All three colors of the Garmin Forerunner 970 are reduced by $100 on Amazon right now, matching the lowest price I’ve ever seen on the watch. It’s the best sports watch available in my view, offering best-in-class tracking, training analysis and navigation features in a lightweight but durable design.
Our Senior Fitness Writer, Nick Harris-Fry, is a seasoned marathon runner who just came off the London Marathon with a sub-2:30 time. The watch he used during the race — the Garmin Forerunner 970 — just crashed to its lowest ever price at Amazon. This deal comes highly recommended!
Samsung says RAM crisis will continue into 2027
This isn't good news for anyone hoping the current RAM crisis would abate in 2027. In a recent earnings call, Samsung confirmed that it expects the shortages to continue on into next year. What's more, the tech giant said it's experiencing "very tight inventory" right now. It added: "Available supply is far short of customer demand. In fact, our demand fulfillment rate is now at a record low."
Last month, Samsung followed the crowd and quietly hiked a bunch of prices on its consumer devices.
Is Elon Musk a fool?
"I gave them $38 million of essentially free funding, which they then used to create an $852 billion for-profit company. I literally was a fool," said Musk during his testimony today.
Not only did he talk about his investment in what he thought was a nonprofit AI company, but he also discussed the dangers of for-profit companies developing the AI tools we use.
Have you seen 'Apex' yet?
Netflix’s latest original thriller refuses to budge from its position as the platform’s No. 1 movie. Released last week (on Friday, April 24), "Apex" rocketed up the most-watched charts in just a matter of hours, and it’s held onto the top spot ever since.
Have you seen it yet? What are your thoughts? Here's our full review.

Here's how Apple could make the iPhone Fold stand out
Whether the iPhone Fold does end up coming out this year or not, it's set to distinguish itself from the competition by focusing on four specific ways according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.
Foldable phones have been available for quite some time now, but Apple can't afford to simply rehash what's currently available. Since it's being positioned as a productivity powerhouse that offers the portability of a smartphone with the expansive canvas of an iPad mini, Apple needs to be meticulous about every aspect of its foldable — from its design, all the way to the software.

Blush MacBook Neo is making me...well, blush
As you've probably seen, we rather love the MacBook Neo — a budget monster of a notebook that has unequivocally dunked on the cheap Windows laptop space with a premium construction and impressive performance.
Well, I just got one in the Blush finish, and while I wouldn't normally get a pink laptop, I must admit this is a gorgeous color for it!
Rate my new PC build!

The first PC I built towards the end of last year was amazing (I do love the Tom's Guide detailing on the side), but I found the full-size desktop to be a bit unweildy in a tiny apartment like mine.
So I've downsized, and managed to do it for relatively good price too too! Since I already had the RTX 5080 GPU, 32GB of DDR5 RAM and the AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, it was a transplant job.
- MSI B850M gaming plus WiFi Motherboard: was $181 now $149 @ Newegg
- Thermalright Fw 240 Black AIO cooler: was $73 now $62 @ Amazon
- Foifkin F100 Micro ATX case: was $54 now $49 @ Amazon
- Thermalright TL-C12C-S 120mm fan (2x for the bottom): $6 @ Amazon
Cable management is rather finicky in a tiny case like this, but what do you think?

Saros — to play or not to play?
Housemarque's next PS5 exclusive is Saros, and like Returnal before it, it looks to be another challenging, compelling rogue-lite shooter — TG's Rory Mellon called it "the most exhilarating PS5 exclusive in years" in our Saros review, which went live on Friday.
However, if you don't love roguelikes, you might want to reconsider picking it up, as even though he has "nothing but respect" for the developers, Senior Computing Writer Tony Polanco found Saros didn't convert him into a roguelike fan. Find out why below:
I played Saros for a week, and it still didn’t make me a roguelike convert

Our verdict on the LG C6 OLED
In our latest YouTube video, Kate Kozuch reviews the LG C6 OLED TV, explaining why the C6 is one of the best TVs of 2026, but also why there's plenty of good reason to just get a previous-gen LG C5 OLED on sale if you look at the C6 vs. C5 differences year over year.
Give it a watch below and let us know in the comments whether you're considering a TV upgrade or not (and whether you'll be picking up the LG C6 or opting for another TV set altogether).

Pixel 10 down to its lowest-ever price at Amazon
The Pixel 10a may be one of the best cheap phones around, but even it can't compare with what flagship phones have to offer. Normally, the Pixel 10 would be too expensive to really consider a value phone, but with prices dropping to $549 it's definitely the better choice.

Mac mini is becoming hard to find
If you're looking to get a Mac mini, you might want to stop looking and start getting because they seem to be disappearing from retailer stock quickly. For example, if you head to Apple's website and configure a base-model Mac mini (the $599 one), it shows as unavailable for delivery at this time. That means the cheapest way to get a Mac desktop isn't available from Apple directly for now.
Even models that are in stock have long wait periods. For example, the 512 GB M4 Mac mini shows a six-week wait.
Is the company preparing a refresh for later this year? That's certainly possible. It could also be an issue with getting the parts needed at a low enough cost due to the ongoing memory crisis.
Whatever the case, if you want a base model Mac mini and you see one at Amazon, Best Buy or another retailer, you'll want to jump on it.
100 million Mac users at risk
Two new forms of malware, named “Phoenix Worm” and “ShadeStager”, have been discovered by security researchers. The malware gets around Gatekeeper — the macOS digital security guard that only lets verified, trusted apps onto your machine. The result? Millions of MacBook users are currently at risk.
Here's how to avoid falling victim yourself.
Price rises just keep on coming
One of our favorite gaming handhelds, the Lenovo Legion Go S, has received a sudden and unwelcome price hike due to the ongoing shortage of RAM.
From the looks of things, the best version of Lenovo’s 8-inch handheld gaming PC has basically doubled in price. When it arrived last summer, it cost $829 for the Z1 Extreme version with SteamOS. Over at Best Buy right now, that same model now costs $1,579.
Even the entry-level model that my colleague Tony recommended as a solid under-$700 pick just a few weeks ago has also seen a price bump. That version has jumped from $649 to $989 at Best Buy.
This AI trick is a game-changer
Our AI Editor, Amanda Caswell, loves to find ways to make AI work in her life. Recently, she asked ChatGPT to use Charlie Munger’s "Inversion rule" to rethink her goals, and the results were quite impressive.
Sometimes you need a fresh perspective, even if it isn't from a person.
And that's exactly what you can get from tools like ChatGPT. Sure, it won't replace the friendly advice of a human, but having a completely impartial tool that can evaluate things for you is incredibly valuable.

A TV you can actually see in really bright rooms just got a huge price drop
Raise your hand if your TV suffers from a dim picture and reflections when you open the curtains in your living room. The good news is that TV tech is getting better, and this 55-inch Mini-LED is considerably brighter than competing TVs. The better news? The price just dropped from $799 to just $449 for the 55-inch model.
Since its release, the TCL QM6K has been one of my go-to recommendations for folks looking for a quality screen on a budget. It's a budget-friendly, 55-inch Mini-LED TV that's perfect for folks who want to upgrade to dependable, good-looking TV without spending too much. Right now, Best Buy is knocking $350 off its original price.
Deezer says nearly half of all daily uploads are AI-generated
Music streaming service Deezer has just put out a release saying that nearly half of all music uploaded to its platform is now AI-generated.
The service is now receiving almost 75,000 AI-generated tracks per day, which works out to 44% of all daily uploads. Deezer says it's fighting to make sure human artists don't get knocked to the sidelines and introduced an AI music detection tool in January 2025.
"Since January, we have made our detection technology available for licensing, and we’re looking forward to seeing industry peers of all kinds join us in the fight for fairness in the age of AI," said Alexis Lanternier, CEO of Deezer.

It's Ternus Time
The industry is reacting to the news that John Ternus will be Apple's next CEO. Analysts have commented that the hardware side of the business is in safe hands with the continued pull of the iPhone, Mac and Apple Watch. But Apple is notably behind when it comes to consumer-facing AI and that represents a significant challenge for the company's next chapter...
What's up with ChatGPT?!
ChatGPT is having an outage and it's a bit of an odd one. Downdetector reports have dropped down to almost the baseline, but OpenAI still shows an active outage that it is "Investigating." For us, ChatGPT seems to be working fine, but it seems rather odd that OpenAI isn't saying things are fixed yet.

Amazon's newest Fire TV Stick HD won't allow sideloading
The newly announced Fire TV Stick HD model does have some big benefits, but reports have emerged about a potential drawback.
As spotted by Cord Cutters News, some Amazon customers saw a message on the Fire TV Stick HD product page warning that this new model won't allow users to add third-party apps.
The message read: "For enhanced security, this device prevents sideloading or installing apps from unknown sources. Only apps from the Amazon Appstore are available for download."

Spotify on tablet is getting better
One of the weaker Spotify apps was always the tablet version. It just lagged behind the desktop and phone versions.
Now, Spotify has announced that it's making it better. "Rather than simply scaling up mobile components, we designed the tablet experience to take advantage of the extra space, so you can browse and discover new favorites right alongside what you’re already playing. In addition, improvements we make to mobile can reach tablet users faster," said Spotify in a blog post.
Here are the key new changes:
- Adaptive orientation
- Collapsible sidebar
- Enhanced video experience:

To-do list? What to-do list?!
We decided to ditch a traditional to-do list and use ChatGPT. A bold move? Yes.
So how did we do with it? Here's how it went:
One of the best foldable phones is defying RAM price hikes right now
The ongoing RAM shortage is seeing prices increase in games consoles, VR headsets and smartphones. But one of the best foldable phones you can buy is currently seeing a killer discount over on Amazon.
You can pick up the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 for $1,599 at Amazon right now. That's the model with 256GB of storage, and a saving of $400 off the usual price. It's not quite the lowest price we've ever seen, but it's close!
Meta Quest price hike
Meta announced yesterday that starting on Saturday April 19 the company would raise prices on its Meta Quest 3 and 3S virtual reality headsets. The tech giant blamed the ongoing RAM crisis for the price hike.
Meta's headsets come in three configurations: Quest 3S with 128GB or 256GB storage and the Quest 3 with 512GB of storage. Here's how their prices are changing.
Configuration | Old Price | New Price |
|---|---|---|
Meta Quest 3S (128GB) | $299.99 | $349.99 |
Meta Quest 3S (256GB) | $399.99 | $449.99 |
Meta Quest 3 | $499.99 | $599.99 |

This is the second recall of this device since April 2025.

OpenAI Codex
"We’re releasing a major update to Codex, making it a more powerful partner for the more than 3 million developers who use it every week to accelerate work across the full software development lifecycle," reads OpenAI's latest blog post. "Codex can now operate your computer alongside you."
"With background computer use, Codex can now use all of the apps on your computer by seeing, clicking, and typing with its own cursor," the post continues.
That's some exciting-sounding stuff for speeding up all kinds of workflows or taking them off your hands completely.
We'll have extended hands-on time with the changes to Codex in the near future, but in the meantime, it's definitely worth reading OpenAI's post to learn more.
What's happening with these 'nudify' apps?
Apparently, these so-called "nudify" apps are getting through to Google Play and the App Store, according to a Tech Transparency Project report (slightly NSFW images in the report, though the nudity is covered).
"Apple and Google have rules against 'nudify' apps, but their app store search and advertising systems actually point users to them," said TTP in its report.
"The apps identified by TTP have been downloaded 483 million times and made more than $122 million in lifetime revenue, according to data compiled by a mobile analytics firm," the report continued.
Perhaps even scarier, the report found "31 nudify apps that were rated suitable for minors."

Amazon's new Fire Stick is TINY
Amazon has unleashed a new Fire TV Stick, and it's tiny. It's about 30% slimmer and can be powered through a TV’s USB port. Sure, a lot of these streamers can be powered by USB ports, but it often leads to performance issues. If Amazon's latest actually works without needing to get it to power, this could keep setups a lot cleaner, especially for wall mounting.
