Primped and preened to the canines, more than 2,000 dogs — plus Philadelphia 76ers star Tyrese Maxey — spanning 201 breeds and varieties wagged their stuff at the Expo Center in Greater Philadelphia a fortnight ago, and now all of the key moments have been condensed into this delightful two-hour holiday special.

Essentially a catwalk for dogs, the National Dog Show was inspired by the cult classic 2000 movie "Best in Show", starring Eugene Levy, Jennifer Coolidge, Parker Posey, Catherine O'Hara, John Michael Higgins, Jane Lynch and Michael McKean.

That means it's now 25 years since the comedy was released, and hosts John O'Hurley, Mary Carillo and David Frei are on hand to guide us through a particularly meta edition of the event, one in which life imitates life imitating art. It promises to be every bit as barking mad as it sounds.
