The traditional Thanksgiving Day triple-header is especially enticing this year, because five of the six teams' NFL playoff hopes are precariously balanced — and in the case of the Packers and Lions, intertwined. The Packers (7-3-1) and Ravens (6-5) are in the picture but only just, while the Lions (7-4) and Chiefs (6-5) are hammering at the door, and the Cowboys (5-5) have suddenly jolted into life with their season on the line.

First up is an all-NFC North clash between the Packers and Lions. A Detroit win would see them enter the wildcard frame at Green Bay's expense, while a defeat would be hugely damaging. It's over to the Chiefs and Cowboys next, each team having pulled off a spectacular comeback at the weekend. Down 20-9 to the Colts in the fourth quarter following two straight defeats, KC fans were ready to accept their playoff hopes were as good as gone before a heroic defensive effort gave Patrick Mahomes full ownership of the ball. The Cowboys were 21-0 down to the Eagles at the interval, only for the defense to show up and George Pickens to run amok after the break. Having been dead and buried at the start of the month, they're now playing like legitimate contenders.
The Thanksgiving slate concludes with an all-AFC North affair, with the Bengals up against the Ravens. Lamar Jackson still doesn't look right, but Baltimore have reeled off five straight wins behind a steadily improving defense. Having been 1-5 and doomed barely a month ago, they're now tied for first in the division. The Bengals, meanwhile, can't even lose with dignity. They opted against risking the fit-again Joe Burrow at the weekend, only for Joe Flacco to fumble the game and get banged-up in the process. 3-8 is a whole sight bleaker than 4-7.
