Sepp Straka was in sparkling form during Saturday's Round 3, carding a bogey-free 64 to take the lead on his own at -17. The Austrian played with trademark consistency all day long, taking advantage of four birdie and two eagle opportunities when they rose. Chipping in at the par-5 6th certainly helped in the latter regard.

One stroke behind Straka in the final group is world number one Scheffler, who is seeking his third Hero World Challenge title in a row. The reigning PGA Championship and British Open winner started the third round brilliantly, with four birdies and an eagles thru seven, but again faltered coming down the stretch. Two bogeys in the final three holes – he seems to have a real problem at 16 – meant a 65 and one off Straka on -16.

Also in the hunt are Alex Noren and Hideki Matsuyama, who are two shots further back on -14, while a pair of U.S. Open champions go out after them. Wyndham Clark and J.J. Spaun are on -13.

There's no cut in the 20-man field this week, with the winner scooping a cool $1m.

What is the Hero World Challenge preview?

Sure, it's technically the PGA Tour offseason but the world's best golfers just can't stop teeing it up. Especially when there's a trip to the Bahamas, for the good cause of raising money for the Tiger Woods Foundation, in it for you.

Making his first start since the Ryder Cup 2025, world No.1 Scheffler is the main draw and he'll be joined by U.S. teammates J.J. Spaun, Harris English and Cameron Young, along with the Bethpage Black captain Keegan Bradley. Team Europe stars Rose and Robert MacIntyre are also in the field and have been drawn to play together in Rounds 1 and 2.

One man who won't be teeing it up, though, is Woods himself as he recovers from his latest surgery, hopefully in time for the new season. It may technically be an exhibition, with spirits high and lots of fun to be had out on the course, but these are competitive beasts and they want to win.

What is the format of the Hero World Challenge 2025?

The Hero World Challenge features a select field of 20 players who will compete over four rounds of stroke play.

It will be played at the Albany Golf Course in New Providence, Bahamas. It's a par 72.

Though accredited by the PGA Tour, there are no ranking points up for grabs as this is technically falling in the offseason.

What is the purse of the 2025 Hero World Challenge?

The 2025 Hero World Challenge field are battling it out for a share of a $5 million purse. The overall winner on Sunday will take home a top prize of $1 million.

As a benefit event for the Tiger Woods Foundation, some players donate their prize money to the charity.
