Tour of Flanders 2026 Preview

It’s hard to overstate how big the Tour of Flanders or the Ronde de Vlaanderen is to Belgian cyclists and Belgian cycling fans. The culmination of a month’s intense racing on the bergs and cobbles of the region it has been crowning great champions since 1913.

Starting in Antwerp and finishing 271 kilometres later in Oudenaarde, this year’s course will pitch the riders as always up against a multitude of famous climbs including the Koppenberg, the Paterberg and the Oude Kwaremont, which is ridden three times.

Three riders stand head and shoulders above the rest as favorites — three time winner Mathieu van der Poel, double winner (and current world champion) Tadej Pogačar and riding for the first time Remco Evenepoel. Pogačar, who has made both of his previous victories look easy, is aiming to win all five Monuments in the same year having already bagged Milan-Sanremo last month so will be at his absolute peak again come race day. Facing up against them will be other great champions like Mads Pedersen, Wout van Aert and Biniam Girmay.
