If you're looking to upgrade your mattress but don't want to spend thousands, you're in luck as the cheap to mid-range mattress market is bursting with reliable and affordable options. Our two favorites from these price brackets are the Siena Signature, down to $159 at Siena, and the DreamCloud Hybrid Classic, reduced to $399 at DreamCloud.

Both sit in the top three rated options in our guide to the best mattresses of the year and are excellent value for the price versus performance whether they're on sale or not.

The Siena Signature

The Siena Signature mattress is a good budget option for back and stomach sleepers. But don't underestimate this mattress because of its low price point.

We perform extensive tests when testing and reviewing mattresses, and the Siena Signature performed just as well as some of the other luxury brands in our guide.

The Siena Signature offers enough support for front and back sleepers to sleep comfortably without sinking into the mattress.

Our tester Ruth said: "The moment I climbed onto the Siena Signature mattress, I was obsessed with its support.... I settled quickly into a comfortable stomach sleeping position and stayed that way."

Two of our mattress testers sit on the Siena Signature Mattress on a bed frame in our testing studio. On the left, Nicola Appleton sits close to the side of the mattress to test the edge support. On the right, Frances Daniels sits on the sleeping area of the bed to better understand the comfort.

This mattress also scored high in terms of motion isolation. This means that the mattress absorbs the movements, so you are less likely to be disturbed by your partner tossing and turning.

We wouldn't recommend this mattress for hot sleepers. Just like some of the best memory foam mattresses, the Siena Signature does retain some heat.

The DreamCloud Hybrid Classic

The DreamCloud Hybrid is an excellent luxury mattress dupe. Without spending thousands on one of the best luxury mattresses.

This mattress offers exceptionally high levels of pressure relief, making it a side-sleeper's dream.

The individually wrapped coils allow for sleepers to be able to move around easily on this mattress, which is good if you're a combination sleeper, switching positions throughout the night.

Our DreamCloud tester Lauren said: "It provided enough gentle sinkage to support and contour the body, while gently relieving pressure points and ensuring our testers didn't wake up with new aches and pains."

This mattress also scored highly in terms of edge support. This means you can sit or lie near the edge of the bed without feeling like you're going to fall out of the bed. This is also important for those with mobility issues who need extra support when getting in and out of bed.

We were also impressed with the temperature regulation in the DreamCloud Hybrid mattress. In this category, the DreamCloud Hybrid was just one mark away from the best cooling mattresses, like the Bear Elite Hybrid.

This mattress wouldn't be our top pick for back and front sleepers who need a firmer and sturdier support base. For these sleepers, we'd recommend the DreamCloud Premier Hybrid instead, which is $1,099 for a queen at DreamCloud.
