The Helix Midnight Luxe is the coolest side sleeper mattress I’ve slept on — why I’d buy it at $800 off this Memorial Day
I've been sleeping on this luxury hotel-style mattress for over two years and it's still my go-to bed
Memorial Day might still be days away but the sales are already in full flow. So I thought it would be a good time to revisit one of my absolute favorite side sleeper mattresses, the Helix Midnight Luxe, down to $1,824 (from $2,498) at Helix, with the code TOMS27. I've been sleeping on the Luxe for over two years and it's still my go-to bed.
We recently re-tested the Helix Midnight Luxe from cover to base, putting it through our new mattress methodology to see how it compare to the best mattresses of 2026. And its strong performance in key areas such as pressure relief, temperature regulation, and spinal alignment have cemented it as our top-rated mattress for side sleepers.
27% off matches the biggest discount we’ve seen on the Luxe in the past 12 months. However, the price of the Helix Midnight Luxe has increased, so it's now more expensive than it was during Presidents' Day. Once the Memorial Day mattress sales have ended, this 27% off saving will shrink back down to 20% off, so now is the time to buy if you like the Midnight Luxe.
Here's a closer look at the deal, and for more options we're tracking the best value Memorial Day mattress sales of 2026 LIVE, from $111 — today’s top deals, selected by our sleep experts too...
The Helix Midnight Luxe is one of the best hybrid mattresses on the market, and Memorial Day weekend is your chance to buy it with its biggest discount. Using the code TOMS27 at checkout shaves 27% off, which beats the 25% off general access Helix mattress sale you'd otherwise get. That brings a queen down to $1,824 from $2,498.66. We have tracked a small increase of $73 on a queen after discounts, but it's still an excellent saving on a bed of this calibre.

A good choice for side sleepers who overheat
We recently lab tested the Helix Midnight Luxe, focusing specifically on key areas of performance including pressure relief, edge support, motion isolation and temperature regulation. As well as how it feels to sleep on it, it's how a mattress performs in these tests tell us who it's best for.
We already considered the Luxe to be the best mattress for side sleepers, so it was no surprise to see that it aced our pressure relief tests, scoring an impressive 4.5/5. That means it delivers the right amount of sink for most people who sleep on their sides, providing body contouring support across the shoulders, hips and knees.
Pressure relief is just one part of the puzzle, though, and in order for a mattress to provide year-round comfort it needs to keep temperatures regulated — even during summer heatwaves. The Luxe scored 4/5 in our temperature regulation tests, during which we used a thermal imaging camera to track how well it dissipates heat.
Our tests reflect what I've gathered from sleeping on it for the last two years; it dissipates heat effectively, which means you're unlikely to wake up hot and stuffy. You'll sink slightly into the plush pillow top, but the breathable build and cover prevent any buildup of heat.
It's important to note that we have slept on and tested a standard Midnight Luxe, which comes with a breathable Tencel cover as standard. Very hot sleepers — or those who live in warmer parts of the country — have two cooling upgrade option; a GlacioTex cooling cover, and a GlacioTex Cooling cover and a CoolForce cooling layer.
However, adding both of those upgrades to your cart pushes the sale price of a queen up to $2,188. For that money, we would consider checking out our Brooklyn Bedding Thermobalance XL Elite mattress review — it's a new specialist latex cooling mattress that we recommend to those battling chronic night sweats, thanks to its specialist cooling tech, including Phase Change Material (PCM).
But if you're looking for an excellent allrounder that will support your side sleeping position and keep your sleep temperature nicely regulated, I rate the standard Helix Midnight Luxe highly. It's crafted with side sleepers in mind, but it's supportive and comfortable for back sleepers, too.
Excellent motion isolation means it's also great choice for couples, as you're unlikely to be jolted awake with every toss and turn from your partner. In fact, it's the only mattress and my husband and I have ever agreed on.
Smaller budget? Try this...
Like the Midnight Luxe, the Brooklyn Bedding Copperflex Pro boasts zoned lumbar support for back pain relief, a plush pillow top for outstanding pressure relief and a hybrid design for added breathability. Crucially for this time of year, it also comes with specialist cooling tech, including a GlacioTex cooling cover that wicks away heat and copper-infused foams which draw heat from the body. The current 30% off deal is the top end of Brooklyn Bedding mattress deals, and brings a queen down to $932.40 from $1,332.
