You finally went for that premium Tempur-Pedic bed — but after several weeks, you're still not sleeping well on it. You decide it's best to send it back, but how do you return a Tempur-Pedic mattress?
In this article, we'll comb through the details of Tempur-Pedic's return policy so you know what to expect. (Note that this guide only refers to purchases made directly from Tempur-Pedic; if you buy from a third-party retailer, you will have to go by their return policy.)
Tempur-Pedic is known for making some of the best mattresses, but that doesn't mean their beds will suit everyone. Generally speaking, we recommend reading up on the return policy for the brand you're considering before buying so you don't run into any unpleasant surprises.
This is how you go about returning your Tempur-Pedic mattress within the 90-night sleep trial. Once you have that sorted, you can browse the latest mattress sales if you've decided to resume your quest for a new bed elsewhere.
How to return a Tempur-Pedic mattress
Tempur-Pedic offers a 90-night sleep trial to fully break in your mattress and decide if it's the right fit for you. There is a 30-day minimum before initiating a return at Tempur-Pedic; this is standard with most brands.
If you decide you don't love your Tempur-Pedic mattress within the first 30 nights, visit the Tempur-Pedic support page and scroll down to Returns & Exchanges. You can opt to send your Tempur-Pedic mattress back for a refund or exchange it for a different feel or model.
You'll fill out a short form where you also have the option of adding attachments. It can be especially helpful to add photos if you're making a return related to your mattress warranty and need to show proof of defects.

Tempur-Pedic will only accept returns from purchases made directly from their website or Tempur-Pedic phone sales. If you buy a Tempur-Pedic mattress from one of its authorized retailers, you'll have to abide by their return policy.
How do you get rid of a Tempur-Pedic mattress?
Tempur-Pedic's white glove delivery service will come and remove your old mattress when they deliver your new Tempur-Pedic mattress to your home. Those same delivery partners will be on hand to pick up a mattress you want to send back to Tempur-Pedic.
As for returned and exchanged Tempur-Pedic mattresses, those are usually recycled and turned into materials for other home products, such as carpet padding. Tempur-Pedic also donates select mattresses to charity.

How easy is it to return a Tempur-Pedic mattress?
Like we outlined above, it's very simple to return your Tempur-Pedic mattress online. You'll just fill out a form, providing as many details as possible. From there, you'll be able to receive a refund (or exchange for a different mattress).
If you'd rather speak to someone about making a return or exchange, you can call Tempur-Pedic customer service at 1-800-821-6621. (Note that you might still have to send additional details, depending on the issue.)
Does Tempur-Pedic have a restocking fee?
Yes. Tempur-Pedic charges $175 (plus tax) for a return. This is a common practice with luxury mattress brands such as Saatva and Stearns & Foster. It'll be deducted from your refund amount.
Does Tempur-Pedic exchange mattresses?
If you want to stick with Tempur-Pedic, you can exchange your mattress for another model or firmness. You'll just need to be aware of any price differences.
If you're going with an upgraded model, you'll need to pay the difference (plus the return shipping fee). On the other hand, going with a less expensive model will result in a refund of the difference in cost (minus the return shipping fee).
Are all Tempur-Pedic mattresses returnable?
No. The Tempur-Pedic return policy does not apply to close-out mattresses from Tempur-Pedic Outlet. Discontinued clearance models can't be returned or exchanged, nor do they come with the 90-night sleep trial. (You will, however, still get a 10-year limited warranty.)
