Both contests have plenty of history at play, with Punk and Rhodes' tensions simmering in recent weeks, while Reigns and Rollins have been on-again, off-again allies-turned-rivals dating back to their days in The Shield.
As for the rest of SummerSlam's major title matches, Women's World Champion Liv Morgan puts her gold on the line against the woman who defeated her in this year's Queen of the Ring tournament final, IYO SKY; Charlotte Flair, Jade Cargill, Tiffany Stratton, Chelsea Green, and Lash Legend or Giulia square off in a Ladder Match to crown the Interim WWE Women's Champion; Trick Williams defends the United States Championship against the recently returned Baron Corbin; and hometown hero Chad Gable looks to win his first piece of singles gold as he challenges Penta for the Intercontinental Championship.
Away from those title bouts, there's Danhausen and Dominik Mysterio going one-on-one in a Human Monies on a Pole Match; Sami Zayn and Finn Balor are out to determine who will become the new No. 1 contender for the WWE Championship; SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis laces up his boots for his first WWE match, taking on Gunther; LA Knight teams with Solo Sikoa and Royce Keys to battle The Usos and Jacob Fatu; Fatal Influence takes on Paige and The Bella Twins; and then there's the tiny matter of Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi colliding inside Hell in a Cell.
