Many adjustable firmness mattresses we've tested allow you to customize each side of the bed independently, making them an ideal option for couples. However, a few months ago we decided to test out the Helix Dual Comfort Mattress Topper with GlacioTex, now down to $364.03 for a queen at Helix, and were impressed by its couple-friendly design.

With one side firm and the other soft, the Dual Comfort Mattress Topper is probably the most unique models we've ever tested. Helix's most popular mattress is highly recommended in this year's best mattress guide, so it's not so surprising that they'd come up with such an innovative mattress topper.

1. It's perfect for couples with different sleep styles

The Helix Dual Comfort Mattress Topper is tailor-made for couples or bed-sharers with different sleep positions, firmness preferences, or body type, all thanks to its dual-sided firmness that you'd usually find in the best smart beds.

"While this softer side felt comfortable in all sleep positions, it provided the most pressure relief and support when I slept on my side," says Peck. "My partner is a front sleeper and he did enjoy the extra cushioning and support from the topper."

Out of all the picks in this year's best mattress toppers guide, not one offer a split-comfort design that "provides a comfy solution for couples who can’t seem to agree on the ideal firmness."

Like all models in Helix's mattress topper collection, the Dual Comfort Mattress Topper comes with a GlacioTex cooling cover, meaning the fabric is designed to dissipate heat.

"My partner and I never found ourselves getting too hot or feeling stuck," says Peck. "We never slept too hot even while testing this topper in the summer months."

The Helix Dual Comfort Mattress Topper comes with a luxury price tag, but we found it o have a luxury design that lives up to its cost.

"I trialled the queen size Helix Dual Comfort Mattress Topper that I secured to our existing 13” thick hybrid mattress using the topper’s flexible corner straps," says Peck's review notes.

"As the topper is 3” thick, this made my bed higher than usual, but this extra height also gave the bed a nice hotel-spa style plushness. "The corner straps attached to it did a thorough job of keeping the topper in place on the bed. "
