Two weeks ago, Eight Sleep knocked up to $400 off its Pod 5 smart bed range. That's double the discount we usually see in Eight Sleep mattress sales and I didn't think it would get much better this Black Friday. But, I'll eat my words.

The Eight Sleep Pod 5 Ultra is now $700 off at Eight Sleep. That cuts a queen size to $4,349 from $5,049. For that, you get the complete smart sleep set up (the cover, hub and base) which opens up in-bed sleep tracking sensors, automatic and manual climate control, and the option to raise your head and legs to help mitigate snoring and relieve pain.

Eight Sleep Pod 5 Ultra: was $5,049 now $4,349 at Eight Sleep US

This is an all-time low for the most recent version of this popular AI-powered bed that's up there with the best smart mattresses and beds of the year. It launched in May at an introductory price of $4,699 for Memorial Day and hit $4,649 last week. Now $700 off for Black Friday, a queen is now down to $4,349. The Ultra includes premium features like dual-sided temperature controls, snore mitigation, built-in surround sound and a silent alarm. Just remember you must commit to a subscription fee (starting at $17/month, billed annually) to access all of these nifty features. Benefits include a 30-night sleep trial, a 2-year (or 5-year, depending on which tier subscription you go for) limited warranty, and free shipping.

The Eight Sleep Pod brought me the best sleep of my life

At the beginning of this year, when I was voluntarily putting myself through running 30+ miles a week in preparation for the London Marathon, I knew I was going to need be clocking quality sleep at night. That's what led me to the Eight Sleep Pod 4.

This temperature-regulating, sleep-tracking, vibrating smart mattress cover helped me bag sleep scores of 100, wake up refreshed and recover well between my training sessions.

With upgraded sensors, a smart bed base and a bunch of new features thrown in - plus the option to add a heating and cooling blanket and pillow - I can imagine sleeping on the Eight Sleep Pod 5 Ultra is nothing but bliss.

Oh, and if you're reluctant to try an Eight Sleep due to the recent AWS outage that created some nighttime chaos, there's now a Backup Mode.
