Switzerland beat Finland 4-2 when they met in Group A on Tuesday, but the Lejonen have an otherwise unblemished record and have got stronger throughout. They had arguably the toughest route through the knockouts, but hammered Czechia 4-1 before coming from behind to beat Canada 4-2.

As four-time champions, including in 2011, 2019 and 2022, neither do they have the weight of history bearing down on them.

The Swiss are the tournament's only unbeaten side and have the edge across every major metric, including scoring efficiency, the power play and penalty kills. Four of the top five scoring leaders — Sven Andrighetto, Denis Malgin, Roman Josi and Nico Hischier — are Swiss, and Leonardo Genoni's save percentage of 97.25 is significantly better than the 92.45 of Justus Annunen.

However, Finland are battle-hardened, and their industrious, disciplined approach matches up favorably with Switzerland's risky, front-footed game. Skipper Aleksander Barkov may be the only Finn amongst the top five scoring leaders, but he has an unerring knack for delivering in the biggest moments.

The two-time Stanley Cup-winning Florida Panthers captain scored both of Switzerland's goals in the group-stage meeting five days ago, and triggered the comeback against Canada yesterday.
