Fox Digital is Developing a Firefly Game... for Mobile

Let's hope Firefly online lives up to the hype.

Fans of the cult TV hit Firefly have been clamoring for a continuation of the series for years. To capitalize on the show's continuing popularity, Fox Digital Entertainment has announced Firefly Online. However, there's a twist that might not be too pleasing to most gamers, as Firefly Online is being developed by QMXi and Spark Plug Games for iOS and Android.

Firefly Online will feature players as the captain of a ship. They must perform missions and put together a crew and a ship. Unfortunately, there aren't many other details about the game, other than that you can sign up for an account via the official website.

Firefly Online won't be due until sometime in 2014. Hopefully, it manages to live up to its hype.

Ehh. Just like Stargate mobile. I'll take what I can get but would prefer a series/ full game.

"To capitalize on the show's continuing popularity,"

Right... so how about another season of the show. I see no need here to cheapen the IP with a mobile game.

@6frillybob101, completely agree. I'll take what I can get. I paid for Stargate SG1 Episode 1 for mobile in the hopes that maybe, just maybe they might continue something thread of Stargate. Who knows, if this turns into money, maybe Firefly will make it back to TV... I hope so.

Ugh ... nothing worse than mobile games. Well... there were a few good ones I've tried so far, but man, most of it is just crap where it's all about feeding it money.

This sounds like it will be terrible. Why not just make another season? I guess Joss is a little busy with all the superhero movies.
