Cool, Comfy and Practically Perfect — Meet the Adjustable Pillow I Can’t Stop Sleeping On
A plush feel and down-like comfort for $85? This pillow is a keeper

Let’s be realistic, finding ‘the one’ — the pillow which suits every sleeping style, position and preference — seems like an impossible task. But as a bedding tester, I've gotten pretty close; and that was when I tried one particular adjustable pillow.
The Coop Original Adjustable Pillow holds the title of best pillow of 2025 in our guide — largely because it's suitable for every kind of sleep position. As the name suggests, it is fully adjustable thanks to the fill, which can be added or removed to meet your sleeping preferences. As a result, the pillow loft, firmness and feel can all be altered until you’re satisfied.
I slept on the Coop Original Adjustable for two weeks before writing the in-depth review, and it's also the pillow I go back to after each testing cycle. Why? Read on to find out…
Coop Original Adjustable Pillow: from $85 at Coop Sleep Goods
The Coop Original is available to buy in three shapes (classic, crescent and cut-out) and two sizes (queen and king). I've spotted it up to 20% off during major sale events which reduces the price of a queen from $85 to $68. It's currently full price, but you might see discounts during this year's Labor Day mattress sales. Benefits include a 100-night sleep trial, 5-year warranty and free shipping.
1. It delivers sink-in comfort yet it's so supportive
In my Coop Original Adjustable review, I go into detail about the design and composition of the pillow. But the key factor is the fill, which is made from a combination of plus-shaped memory foam and microfiber — creating a down-like feel that is plush and contouring.
This can be added (the pillow comes with an extra half-pound of fill) or removed to suit your sleeping position. As a combination sleeper (side and back), I found that adding about a quarter of the additional fill from the bag made the Coop Original the right balance of softness and support for my head, neck and shoulders.
2. It doesn't turn into an inferno at night
Yes, memory foam products are infamous for retaining heat. However, thanks to the advancement of bedding tech and science, blending it with cooling elements (like infusing with cooling gel for example) can reduce this effect.
While the Coop Original Adjustable is not a cooling pillow, the wrinkle-free Lulltra cover fabric it comes encased in — made of a blend of 60% polyester and 40% bamboo-derived viscose rayon — is breathable, which translated to a temperature neutral sleep for me.

Though I haven't ever woken up due to overheating or nightsweats while sleeping on the Coop Original Adjustable, I'd still recommend an actively cooling pillow for very hot sleepers. A good alternative is the Coop Cool+ Pillow. Or, the top cooling pick in our best pillows guide, the Casper Hybrid with Snow Technology is another great option.
3. It feels very luxurious for the price
Top-tier hotel pillows and premium options from bedding brands may be luxuriously comfy, but they come with a hefty price tag and may not always be suitable for every sleeping positions or style.
The Coop Original on the other hand, starts at $85 for a queen and $99 for a king in the classic shape — a mid-range price that still delivers what I described in my review as a "plush feathery softness." It's also cheaper than some luxury pillows from brands like Saatva and Purple, but has a premium feel and build.
Other pillows I've tried and loved so far this year
1. Layla Kapok Pillow: queen 2 pack from $218 from $163.50 at Layla
Need something firmer? The Layla Kapok is our best adjustable pillow for side sleepers, made with a fill of kapok fibers and shredded memory foam. During the testing period, it took me a couple of days to break into the pillow, but once I did, it provided sturdy support for my neck, head and shoulders. I'm someone who still prefers a plush support, but the Layla is a good alternative to the Coop Original Adjustable for those who don't need sink-in contouring (read my full Layla Kapok Pillow review to know more). The brand currently has 'buy one get one' 50% off Labor day sale, which drops the price of a queen pack of two from $218 to $163.50. Benefits include a 30-night trial, 5-year warranty and free shipping and returns.
2. Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Neck Pillow: 2 small size from $198 from $169 at Tempur-Pedic
This is my number one pillow recommendation for anyone who struggles with neck pain or aches. The Tempur-Neck has a unique build which follows the natural curve of the neck and provides instant pressure relief, so much so that after lying on it I felt as if I'd indulged in a spa massage. However, the extremely firm feel (it's made with a single extra-firm block of the brand's proprietary Tempur foam) is not something I'd choose every night (find out more in my Tempur-Neck Pillow review). Current bundle savings mean that you'll get a discount if you buy two Tempur-Neck pillows. That reduces a pack of two in the small size to $169 (was $198). A 5-year warranty and free shipping applies.
3. Purple GridCloud Pillow: double pack from $298 from $268 at Purple
The GridCloud Pillow is a recent launch from Purple that I'm currently testing. And while you'll have to stay tuned for my hands-on review for a more detailed evaluation, what I can say now is that, while it isn't adjustable, the combination of down-like silicone-coated fibers and the responsive GelFlex grid layer makes it a strong rival to the Coop Original Adjustable in my book. It costs $149 for a single pillow (and only comes in one size: standard), but you can currently get 10% off when you by two, which reduces price to $268 (was $298). Plus, you'll get a 30-night sleep trial, 1-year warranty and free shipping.
