A lot can change in 16 years. "Inglourious Basterds" exploded into cinemas in August 2009 as Quentin Tarantino's swaggering, fantastical account of Adolf Hitler's demise, back when Nazism, fascism and ethnic cleansing could be condemned openly. For many, however, its satirical qualities may have been lost somewhere between the spectacular climactic bonfire at Le Gamaar and the inherent American heroism of Aldo Raine.

Here's how to watch "Inglourious Basterds" from anywhere with a VPN.

Tarantino never misses an opportunity to extol the power of cinema, and nowhere moreso than in "Inglourious Basterds", which pivots on "Stolz der Nation" ("Nation's Pride"), a Nazi propaganda film glorifying German army sniper Fredrick Zoller's contributions to the war.

Of course, Tarantino leans into his silly side with various belief-suspending coincidences and moments of gratuitous violence, and it's a testament to Christoph Waltz that he grounds the film with his unforgettable breakthrough performance as the chilling Austrian SS officer and strudel connoisseur Hans Landa.

"The members of the National Socialist Party have conquered Europe through murder, torture, intimidation and terror. And that's exactly what we’re gonna do to them. We will be cruel to the Germans, and through our cruelty, they will know who we are. They will find the evidence of our cruelty, in the disemboweled, dismembered, and disfigured bodies of their brothers we leave behind us," goes Aldo Raine's famous rallying cry.

"And the German will not be able to help themselves from imagining the cruelty their brothers endured at our hands, and our boot heels, and the edge of our knives. And the Germans will be sickened by us. And the Germans will talk about us. And the Germans will fear us."
