IKEA’s newest Christmas tree is a smart alternative for small-space living, or for adding some extra festive cheer to a kids' room, entry hall, or even your kitchen. This wall-mounted wooden tree won’t interrupt your precious floor space or spread needles, so it’s a win-win all around.

Ikea’s VINTERFINT Wall Decoration, at $19.99, is a genius idea that lets you decorate your tiny home or apartment without it becoming a trip hazard, while still enjoying the glitter and glimmer of decorations. The tree is constructed of pine and pulls out into shape; in fact, its simple assembly reminds me of concertina wine racks that were popular a few decades ago!

This modern alternative has been designed by Mikael Azelsson, who says it can be tricky to fit a traditional Christmas tree into a small space. His compact and modern take on a Christmas tree, can be decorated to bring festive cheer to small homes without the clutter.

The pine tree features 24 hooks, ideal for hanging decorations, mini gift bags, ribbons, or fairy lights. What’s more, I can see it being perfect for a kid’s room, adorned with all the hand-crafted decorations they’ve made at kindergarten or school.

And since it has 24 hooks, it could also make the perfect advent calendar with little gifts each day in the lead up to Christmas day — but you’ll have to be super-quick to make it work this year!
