April is here, and with spring in full bloom, the Disney+ lineup is ready for a refresh. This month’s slate is a winner for "Star Wars" and "American Idol" fans, with a beautiful nature documentary added to the mix for good measure.
The highlights kick off April 6 with the animated "Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord," which finds the former Sith rebuilding his criminal empire and taking on a young Padawan. On April 13, American Idol returns for its live premiere, bringing Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Ryan Seacrest back for a high-stakes season 9.

'Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord'
Set after the events of "The Clone Wars," this new animated series follows Darth Maul as he tries to rebuild his criminal syndicate on a world outsie of the Empire’s reach. As he works to regain power and find revenge for how he's been wronged, he meets a disillusioned young Jedi who may become the apprentice he's been looking for.

'American Idol' season 9
"American Idol" returns with another season of powerhouse performances, big personalities, and drama. Judges Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie are back to help guide the next wave of aspiring stars. And of course, Ryan Seacrest returns as host as per usual. You know the drill: new singers, new stories, and the eventual crowning of a new music superstar.

'Orangutan'
Journey to the rainforest canopy of Southeast Asia for a close-up look at one of the animal kingdom’s most fascinating communities. Narrated by Josh Gad, this documentary follows Indah, a curious young orangutan learning how to navigate life as she prepares to leave her family behind and venture out on her own. If you're into nature documentaries or have a soft spot for animals, this one might very well have you grabbing some tissues as you watch Indah grow.
