The Apple Watch Ultra helped me go from 6 to 7 hours of sleep — here's how to save $519 if you want it for the lowest price this Memorial Day
The Apple Watch Ultra's health tracker has given me invaluable insight into my sleep, and it's now under $280 in Best Buy's Memorial Day sale
For the last six weeks, I've been wearing an Apple Watch every night without fail, and it's impressed me with its lab-accurate sleep tracking. The Apple Watch Ultra, now down to $519.01 off at Best Buy, has even helped me extend my sleep from six hours to seven — and Best Buy's Memorial Day deal means you can get it for $279.99 (was $799).
This is one of the best sleep tracker deals in the Memorial Day sales. The Apple Watch is one of the best sleep trackers on the market today, and the 1st-generation Ultra model has everything you need to generate key insights into your sleep. I was new to the world of sleep tracking, but its intuitive controls and comfortable fit helped me track my sleep with zero issues from night one.
Here, I'll share how the Apple Watch Ultra has helped me extend my sleep by one hour. Plus, if you want some extra sleep-tracking features and a longer battery life, I've rounded up two of of the best deals on the Apple Watch Ultra 2 in the Memorial Day mattress sales.
Best Buy are selling a refurbished Apple Watch Ultra for $279.99 down from its original price of $799, saving you a $519.01 in total. This is an amazing deal on a discontinued-but-still-great-quality piece of sleep tech. You can read more about the watch's other high-tech features in the official Tom's Guide Apple Watch Ultra review.
How the Apple Watch is helping me transform my sleep
On average, I get around six hours of sleep, but the Apple Watch Ultra has helped me finally follow the 7:1 sleep rule. This rule means falling asleep within a one hour window and getting seven hours of sleep at least five nights a week, and it's based on a study that found that following this routine may boost longevity by up to four years.
As you can see from my sleep scores pictured above, I've managed to increase my sleep duration from around six hours to seven hours. The Apple Watch Ultra's key features have helped me follow the 7:1 sleep rule by helping me wind down with its distraction-blocking Sleep Focus mode.
Its tracking shows me how long I sleep a night and the sleep stages I cycle, such as REM sleep and deep sleep. Along with sleep stages, the Apple Watch also detects any times I wake up through the night.
For example, when I ate too close to bed, I woke up in the morning to find that I took longer to fall asleep and had more frequent nighttime awakenings. So, I followed the 10-3-2-1 sleep rule (which states you shouldn't eating any later than three hours before bed) and my sleep vastly improved.
Looking at my sleep metrics every morning helps me to reevaluate my evening habits so I can adjust my nighttime routine accordingly. Plus it shows me how my sleep improves when I do follow good sleep hygiene, incentivizing me continue improving my sleep.
Want to unlock more sleep tracking features? Try the Apple Watch Ultra 2
If you want a longer battery life and the ability to unlock more sleep features than the Apple Watch offers, then try the Apple Watch Ultra 2. It's over a $100 more expensive than the Apple Watch Ultra, but it offers up to 72 hours of battery life on a single charge on Lower Power mode compared to the Ultra 1's 60 hours.
The 2nd Generation also provides a tool to help you detect sleep apnea, which flags potential breathing disturbances during sleep by sending you sleep apnea notifications.
The Walmart is selling a restored Apple Watch Ultra 2 for $64 off, reducing the 2nd Gen model from $519 to $455. The watch comes with a 49mm Blue Titanium Case and a Blue Ocean Band. Benefits include free shipping and 30-day returns. Walmart deems the restored condition as "Like New."
