We've tested the best memory foam mattresses sold online — these are our favorites.
Good memory foam mattresses can often deliver comfort on a budget and if you don't have much to spend, Siena and Zinus are two of our favorite affordable sleep brands. But is the Zinus Green Tea or Siena Signature Memory Foam mattress right for you?
We've tested both the Siena Signature and the Zinus Green Tea and we rate them among the best mattresses you can buy online for shoppers on a budget. These two beds have plenty of similarities — a simple foam build, low price tag — but when it comes to comfort, they're very different.
In this Zinus Green Tea vs Siena Signature memory foam mattress face-off we'll be comparing comfort, support and performance, to see which bed comes out on top. Will it be the soft pressure relief of the Zinus or the super support of the Siena?
Zinus Green Tea vs Siena Memory Foam mattress: Price & trial
- Both of these beds are budget-friendly
- The Siena has a 180-night sleep trial while the Zinus offers 100-nights
- Both mattresses come with a 10-year warranty
Buying a new mattress is an important investment, but it doesn't have to break the bank. Thanks to evergreen mattress sales and competitive MSRPs, you can get both the Zinus Green Tea and Siena mattress at ultra low prices — which is why you'll find both beds in our best cheap mattress guide.
Shopping direct from Zinus, the Green Tea Memory Foam Mattress has an MSRP of $599 for a queen, although you'll find it for $499 in the year-round Zinus mattress sale. Keep an eye out for extra discounts, as Zinus sometimes provides codes for an additional 10% or 15% off.
The Siena is the cheaper mattress, as in the long-running Siena mattress sale a queen is $359 (ignore the Total Value of $749 — it's never sold for that much.)
But bargain hunters should try third-party sites: Amazon and Walmart both have a large collection of ultra-cheap Zinus mattresses, while the Siena Amazon store sometimes runs surprise flash sales, knocking a queen down to under $300.
Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips.
Both offer the industry average 10-year mattress warranty while Siena has the better sleep trial at 180 nights (although Zinus's 100-night trial should be enough time to break in the mattress.) Be aware that if you shop third-party, you might lose the extras so be sure to read the small print.
Zinus Green Tea Memory Foam mattress: twin was $399 now $249 at Zinus
The Zinus Green Tea Memory Foam mattress would be good value even at full MSRP, so $499 for a queen in the long-running Zinus sale is impressive. For real bargain hunters, both Amazon and Walmart have a large line-up of hybrid and all-foam Zinus mattresses, although be aware that the cheapest models tend to be below our recommended mattress thickness.
Siena Memory Foam Mattress: twin $179 at Siena
The Siena is an affordable mattress that doesn't compromise on quality — it offers comfort above and beyond its $359 price tag. The Siena is also sold on Amazon, typically for the same price you'll get direct from the brand. However, Amazon does offer occasional flash sales and we have seen a queen as cheap as $278 in recent months.
Zinus Green Tea vs Siena Memory Foam mattress: Materials & design
- Both mattresses have a 10” profile
- The Siena Memory Foam has two internal foam layers
- The Zinus Green Tea has three internal foam layers
Siena and Zinus use simple designs to deliver comfort on a budget — you won't find the complex interior of the best luxury mattresses here. But this simplicity allows both brands to pack quality in the few layers, something we'll discuss more below.
The 10-inch Zinus Green Tea has three internal layers: a layer of memory foam for cushioning on top, followed by a transition foam layer, and finally a foam base for support and stability. The top two foams are infused with green tea, supposedly for freshness.
Like the Zinus, the Siena Signature also measures 10 inches tall, although it only consists of two internal layers: a two-inch thick comfort foam followed by an eight-inch support foam.

Zinus Green Tea vs Siena Memory Foam mattress: Comfort & support
- We rate the Siena Memory Foam as 9/10 for firmness
- We rate the Zinus Green Tea as 5.5/10 for firmness
- Zinus suits side sleepers, Siena best for back and stomach sleepers
Comfort and support are where these two mattresses start to diverge from one another. While these beds have similar designs, they suit two different sleep styles.
The Zinus Green Tea has a medium feel — during our Zinus Green Tea Memory Foam mattress review our testing panel rated it 5.5/10 on the mattress firmness scale. As soon as you lie on the bed you start to sink into the upper foam layers and this exceptional cushioning makes it one of the best mattresses for side sleepers on a budget.
Pressure relief is where the Zinus excels, contouring to the body to relieve pressure build-up at the hips, knees and shoulders. But the support is less impressive, particularly at the edges (our lead tester nearly slid off the bed when she got too close to the side.)
In contrast, support is the Siena's strongest feature. While it officially has a medium-firm feel, in our experience it's much firmer; our Siena Memory Foam mattress review panel out it at 9 out of 10 on the firmness scale. That made it popular among the back and stomach sleepers on our team, as the Siena keeps the lower back lifted to reduce pain. We think it's one of the best mattresses for stomach sleepers.
The Siena also bests the Zinus at edge support. However, side sleepers will find its firm build too hard at the shoulders (expect some numb arms and hips.)
Both beds did impress our testers with their motion isolation, as the dense foams are able to eat up movement. That's good news if you share a bed with a restless sleeper, as you shouldn't feel them tossing and turning.
Zinus Green Tea vs Siena Memory Foam mattress: Temperature regulation
- Neither bed is a dedicated cooling mattress
- The Zinus traps some heat
- But the Siena stays comfortably neutral
Neither mattress is a dedicated cooling bed, so if you are a hot sleeper, you may be better off opting for one of the best cooling mattresses instead.
However, the Siena is the clear winner when it comes to temperature control. While it doesn't sleep cool, the breathable cover and firm feel means it doesn't trap warmth. Our testers agreed it maintained a neutral feel during the night.
In comparison, the Zinus has more of a traditional sink-in hug, which can feel warmer when sleeping. Our lead tester found that on warm nights they regularly woke up sweating. The Zinus foams do contain a green tea infusion for 'freshness' but to be frank, our testers found it didn't make much difference.
Zinus Green Tea vs Siena Memory Foam mattress: Which should you buy?
Buy the Zinus Green Tea Mattress if…
✅ You like the 'hug' of memory foam mattress: If you want the traditional foam 'hug' of Tempur Material on a tight budget, the Zinus deliver a cozy sink-in feel.
✅ You’re a side sleeper: The cushioning foams of the Zinus contours to the shoulders and hips to prevent pressure build-up when you're lying on your side.
✅ You experience joint pain: Adapting to the joints to evenly distribute weight, the Zinus is good for those who tend to wake up aching. While the best firm mattresses offer exceptional support, they can be too hard on the joints.
Buy the Siena Signature Mattress if…
✅ You’re a back or stomach sleeper: During testing, our team found this mattress to have a firmer feel than advertised, which makes it ideal for back and stomach sleepers who need strong support.
✅ You like to sleep near the edge of the bed: The sturdy edges on this mattress mean you can sleep close to the edge and not feel the bed dip or collapse beneath you. Those with mobility issues can also press down on the sides to get out of bed without losing support.
✅ You sleep warm: If you're a hot sleeper looking for a breathable all-foam mattress on a budget, you might think you're out of luck, but the Siena stays neutral even on warm nights. However, the best hybrid mattresses offer better breathability overall.
