Got Lightning still? This case adds USB-C to older iPhones
It'll make your iPhone future-proof for a bit longer

Apple’s gone all-in on USB-C ever since the iPhone 15, but those still with an older iPhone with a Lightning port are probably finding themselves in a pinch when it comes to charging and accessories. I know this because many of the best portable chargers and best iPhone accessories are ditching Lightning support in favor of USB-C.
If you do own one of these older iPhones with Lightning, there’s one solution that cropped up on my feed that could keep your device future-proof for a bit longer. It’s this case that turns your Lightning port iPhone to one with USB-C — but it looks like it’s selling out quickly.
Add USB-C to your older iPhone with a Lightning port with the iPh0n3 USB-C Protection Case from OBSOLESS. This ultra thin case offers some protection, while fashioning a USB-C port to let you use your iPhone with newer accessories.
Dubbed as the iPh0n3 USB-C Protection Case, it’s a slim case that has an integrated USB-C port for power and connectivity. What I do like about this case is how it’s designed to accommodate the USB-C port, mainly because it doesn’t make the bottom end of the phone longer like some other battery charging cases I’ve seen.
Instead, the USB-C port is fashioned into the bottom right corner of the case — all without adding any additional thickness. This new case from OBSOLESS sells for CHF (Swiss Franc) 49.90, which at checkout with shipping cost comes out to about $70.99. The only cases available now are for the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Unfortunately all the other models have sold out.
While it’s a good option to consider, chances are you might already have a case that you like. I think the iPh0n3 USB-C Protection Case is pricey at this point, so I’d suggest looking into a Lightning to USB-C adapter instead — like the one below, just because you’re saving a lot more. Plus, I do like how it attaches to a keychain so that it’s always on you all the time.
Even with the last models using Lightning, the iPhone 14 series, they’re going to be three generations old by the time Apple introduces its iPhone 17 models presumably this fall. Even though that’s more than enough to justify upgrading, those who intend to hold onto their older iPhones longer could justify getting themselves this USB-C iPhone case.
Quickly add a USB-C port to your existing iPhone with a Lightning port with this travel-friendly adapter. One end goes into your Lightning port, while the other is a standard USB-C port. It also comes with a lanyard to attach it to you keychain so you'll always have it on you.
