As a bedding and sleep writer, staying on top of bedroom design news is all part of the job. And I've spotted three sleek new trends that I predict will be everywhere in 2026. And in even better news, they'll all help you sleep better.

When it comes to optimizing your bedroom for better sleep, there's a few things to keep in mind. Investing in one of the best mattress for your sleeping style lays the foundation.

Next, you need to practice restraint. That means not filling every available surface in your bedroom with the latest trends you've seen on TikTok.

Instead, opt for products that suit your aesthetic and function in a way that is conducive to quality sleep. With that in mind, these are the bedroom design trends that I predict will be huge this year...

1. Soft minimalism

2. Mix and match bedding

Mix and matching your bedding doesn't mean you have to toss in loud prints and colors (or even forgo your pristine white linens completely). Rather, it means have a bit of fun with colors, patterns and textures.

"Mixing different bedding textures is a great way to add a cozy touch to beds without overwhelming the space," explains Chung. "To start incorporating different textures, it’s important to understand the different layers of bedding."

The first layer are sheets, which act as your bedding base. For this you can go for a smooth option like percale or sateen, as this will feel soothing against the skin and keep the foundation simple and minimalistic.

"The next layer is a comforter or duvet, which adds plushness and can introduce subtle texture and design," Chung continues. "Finally, to top off your bed, a chunky knit at the foot of the bed adds that cozy, cocooning feel without covering the entire sleep surface, keeping the look intentional instead of busy."

3. Cordless lamps

Say goodbye to messy cords and wires that clutter up bedroom floors and threaten your sense of calm. Cordless and rechargeable lamps take central stage in 2026, reducing clutter and creating an ambient glow in your bedrooms.

The best part? You have full control over layering and moving the light in your room to match the aesthetics or your mood, highlighting the product's functional advantage.

"Overhead lighting — even when dimmed — still spreads light broadly from above, which can interfere with melatonin production (the sleep and wake hormone). Small portable lamps placed lower in the room create a softer, more grounded glow, similar to sunset or firelight," says Catherine Shuman, founder and principal designer at Intentional Design Studio.

If that all sounds enticing, here's how to shop the bedroom design trends you'll see everywhere this year...
