I shop deals for a living and these Labor Day sales are my expert picks

September is often associated with back to school, cooler weather, and pumpkin spice lattes. However, the first week of September is also a great month for deals as retailers vie for your dollars with their Labor Day sales.
Labor Day is one of my favorite retail holidays as it tends to offer deals on just about everything. The best part is you don't have to wait till Monday to score some epic deals.
One of the biggest Labor Day sales right now comes from Amazon. Right now, Amazon is taking up to 40% off sitewide. That's a very broad sale, but noteworthy deals include Ninja appliances from $59 and Columbia apparel from $13. (The latter is a great sale if you need to restock your fall wardrobe).
If you're looking to refresh your workout wardrobe, Lululemon just restocked its 'We Made Too Much' section with picks from $9. Included are the Lululemon Pace Breaker Shorts for $39, which are my go-to shorts for the gym.
Finally, REI is taking up to 40% off major brands like Arc'teryx, Patagonia, and The North Face. For example, the Patagonia Houdini Jacket is just $75 (down from $109). We've rated it an excellent fall jacket with weather-repelling protection.
Below I've rounded up my favorite Labor Day sales to shop this weekend. So before you head to the beach one last time — make sure to check out these deals below.

Top 5 Deals
Lego sale: deals from $8 @ Amazon
The best Lego deals can usually be found in November and December, but Amazon is slashing the price of select sets this weekend. You can get everything from Disney to Star Wars as well as generic sets.
Lululemon "We Made Too Much": top picks from $9 @ Lululemon
Lululemon has restocked its "We Made Too Much" section with new running shorts, leggings, tank tops, and more. Prices may vary depending on color selection, but they generally start from $9.
YETI sale: deals from $10 @ Amazon
If you're a fan of YETI, you know that a sale doesn't come around often enough. That's why now is the perfect opportunity to save big on drinkware and cooler deals starting at just $10. So don't wait — snag a new cooler or water bottle before these discounts disappear!
Arc'teryx: deals from $24 @ REI
Cooler, windy weather will be here soon as we approach fall. Stock up on new fall gear from Arc'teryx at REI. The retailer is taking up to 30% off select apparel with deals from $24. It includes jackets, t-shirts, hoodies, sneakers, and more.
Dell laptops/monitors: deals from $109 @ Dell
Finish your back to school shopping this month with the latest Dell sales on 4K monitors, laptops, desktops, headphones, and more. After discount, monitors start from $109, whereas laptops start at just $299 for a well-equipped machine.
Gaming
Switch games: deals from $19 @ Best Buy
From Luigi's Mansion 3 to EA FC24, Best Buy is taking from $10 to $20 off a small selection of games. (Most games are $20 off). The sale also includes Zelda, Assassin's Creed and more.
If you don't mind being tethered to a cord, then this HyperX Cloud III gaming headset won't disappoint. It features HyperX's signature fantastic immersive sound with its 53mm drivers, spatial audio, comfortable memory foam and 10mm accurate mic. The wireless option is also at a discount, but prepare to pay more.
As customizable as it is visually distinct, the Aerox 5 wireless mouse offers unparalleled versatility for gamers who dabble in a spectrum of genres. FPS players will find something to love with the adjustable angle snapping, while MMO and RPG players will rebind the extra mouse buttons to their heart's content. In our SteelSeries Aerox 5 Wireless review, we noted the honeycomb design will not be for everyone, but it doesn't stop the Aerox 5 from feeling or performing like a premium mouse.
It tops our best gaming headsets for good reason, and the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5 is now down to just $129. This one's designed for Xbox, but it can still be used for other platforms. There's 360-degree spatial audio, outstanding battery life of up to 60 hours, extremely comfortable memory foam and even over 100 audio presets for games. It's a steal at this price.
The SteelSeries Apex Pro Mini offers a high-quality build and a wide range of per-key customization options, designed specifically for competitive gamers. It's also an excellent showcase of the capabilities of SteelSeries OmniPoint Hall Effect switches. For those seeking every advantage over their competition, there is no better 60% keyboard than the Apex Pro Mini, especially at this reduced price.
While not the cheapest price I've seen, this Samsung Odyssey G6 curved gaming monitor still boasts a 240Hz refresh rate and a 1ms low-latency mode for seriously smooth gameplay. With its QHD 1440p resolution, DisplayHDR 600 for impressive contrast and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, this is one impressive monitor for PC or console gamers alike.
The MSI Claw 7 AI+ is a gaming handheld powered by an Intel Core Ultra 7-258V CPU, 32GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD. It has a 7-inch 1920 x 1080 120Hz display and runs Windows 11 Home. We're fans of the generous RAM, which should ensure you can smoothly run your graphics-heavy PC games and/or multi-task without any lag.
By far the best deal I've seen on an RTX 5050 gaming laptop all year, the Alienware 16 Aurora is now $300 off, and it only recently launched. Along with its RTX 5050 GPU, expect an Intel Core 7-240H CPU, 16GB of RAM, 512GB for storage, and a 16-inch WQXGA (2560 x 1600) LED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
Apparel
Skechers shoes/apparel: from $11 @ Amazon
Amazon is having a massive Skechers sale post Prime Day. The sale includes sneakers and apparel for men, women, and children on sale from $11. As part of the sale, you can get the Skechers Hands Free Slip Ins for $45 (was $110, pictured).
This piece of original go-to training gear is back on sale and it’s perfect for keeping you cool while on the go. UA Tech fabric is famed for being quick-drying and ultra-soft.
Crocs sale: deals from $24 @ Amazon
When it comes to comfort, you really can't beat the Crocs Classic Clog. The brand's original slip-on design have always been up for a 'love it or hate it' debate, but I most certainly love them. They're easy to wear, comfy, fun and versatile. With deals from $24, you can't go wrong.
New Balance sale: deals from $31 @ Amazon
Amazon is currently hosting a huge New Balance sale with deals from $31 on running shoes and athletic apparel. Whether you're looking for a training shoe, a casual pair of sneakers or some new fitness clothing, there's a little something for everyone in the New Balance sale.
The Nike Calm Women's Flip Flops do what they say on the tin — give your feet an ultimate sense of calm with their soft foam cushioning. They're super easy to slip on and come in five color options.
If you're the kind of runner who always cuts that annoying liner out of your shorts, look no further. These linerless shorts from Lululemon are designed for running and training, in a lightweight fabric that moves with you. The 7-inch leg length and classic fit is comfortable on the move, and there's a cord waistband, allowing you to pull the shorts tight against your stomach to minimize movement.
The Dune Shorty is built with a majority recycled performance stretch fabric that dries rapidly. The high-waisted, cheeky swim short is cut to flatter in the water or on the sand.
Mattresses
The DreamCloud Classic is a luxury-style hybrid and our top-rated mattress in a box. At just $649 for a queen it's also our favorite value for money mattress. The medium-firm feel makes it suitable for most sleep styles while the breathable build is great for hot nights. We're in the midst of testing the latest model for our DreamCloud mattress review and while we aren't blown away by the motion isolation, the pressure relief is a stand-out feature. And you now get a free bedding bundle as well, making this a Labor Day mattress sale you don't want to miss.
The best memory foam mattress we've tested, the Nectar Premier delivers that classic all-foam 'hug', balanced by a strong supportive core. In our Nectar Premier Memory Foam Mattress review, we described it as "affordable luxury for side sleepers" — $949 for a queen isn't cheap but the Premier has the indulgent feel of a pricier bed. If you're looking for something easier on the budget, try Nectar's flagship Classic Memory Foam Mattress, only $649 for a queen. Both come with a lifetime warranty and full year's trial.
Purple beds don't feel like most other mattresses and that's thanks to the GelFlex Grid, a layer of hyper-elastic polymer, formed into a grid shape, that bends and contours to your joints as you move. We described the feel as "floating" in our Purple Original Mattress review and while it can take a few nights to adjust to the effect, once you're used to it, the Grid is great at easing joint pain. Purple mattress sales are unpredictable so while $200 off isn't the biggest discount we've seen, $1,299 is likely to be the best price you'll get this Labor Day — and it's good value for a mattress as unique as Purple's line-up.
The most affordable mattress in the Tempur-Pedic line-up, the Tempur-Cloud delivers plenty of that body-hugging comfort we've come to expect from a Tempur-Pedic mattress. It doesn't have the level of luxury we'd want from the pricier Tempur-Pedic beds (and we found overheating to be an issue in our Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud mattress review) but with 30% off, it's the cheapest way to experience the unique Tempur-Pedic feel. We doubt you'll see a better price drop this year.
The Saatva Classic is a luxury hotel-style innerspring mattress that suits nearly all sleep styles thanks to its customizable design and impressive support features. Our lead tester credited it with "[revolutionizing] her sleep" in our Saatva Classic Mattress review and with $400 off in the Saatva Labor Day mattress sale, a queen is just $1,739 (was $2,139.) And you get market-leading benefits as well, with a 365-night trial, lifetime warranty and free white glove delivery — a perk that can cost upwards of $200 from other brands.
The Helix Midnight Luxe Mattress has been designed to provide luxury comfort for side sleepers and according to the testers in our Helix Midnight Luxe Mattress review, it more than delivers. In fact, our lead tester found the blend of plush cushioning and full-body support so good we could hardly convince her to let anyone else give it a try. 27% off with code TOMS27 matches the biggest discount we've seen this year on the Midnight Luxe and it's a huge step up from the regular 20% off sale.
Cozy Earth Summer Sale: up to 35% off @ Cozy Earth
From premium PJs to lush bedding, Cozy Earth is taking up to 55% off during its Last Chance Sale. Plus, use coupon code "TOMSGUIDE" at checkout to save 35% off non-sale items. We're fans of the Cozy Earth Luxe Bath Towels on sale for $94 after coupon (pictured, was $140). They're soft, plush, and feel great against your skin. More importantly, they stand up to multiple wash/dry cycles without ripping or tearing.
Appliances
This kettle heats and boils your brews quickly with a 1-liter capacity and automatic shutoff for safety. Its spout allows for mess-free pouring and the 360-degree swivel base water warmer holds the cordless electric kettle in your preferred position for easy gripping and pouring.
You'll be guaranteed tasty food with one of the best air fryers, and this compact appliance will look stylish in your dorm. It's also super easy to use, with two dials for temperature and time. While you won't be cooking a whole chicken, it has plenty of capacity while you're away from home, and won't monopolize your room, as it measures 8.1 x 9.5 x 12.5 inches, similar to a coffee maker.
The Shark Steam Mop (S100WM) is designed for sealed hard floors like hardwood, marble, tile, stone, laminate and vinyl. The mop transforms water into super-heated steam in seconds to remove dirt, grime, and hard-to-clean messes. I've been using it since the start of the year and it makes it so easy to wipe away floor stains. This is the cheapest price I've seen for it yet.
Ninja appliances: from $59 @ Amazon
Amazon has select Ninja appliances on sale from $59. The sale includes air fryers, blenders, coffee machines, and more. For instance, you can get the Ninja Blast Portable Blender for just $59 (pictured). It's a great personal blender for protein shakes and smoothies and it comes in a wide range of colors.
There's no need to forego your coffee fix because of lack of space, this Keurig K-Mini is one of the best Keurig coffee makers and provides a single serve of coffee to get you started in the morning. Measuring 12.1 x 11.3 x 4.5 inches, this mini coffee maker will hold and brew between 6 to 12-ounces. It's easy to operate with one button for power and another for brew and comes in a choice of green, rose, teal, gray and red.
With 8 cooking functions, this rice cooker is small and mighty. The settings include: white rice, quick cook, brown rice, mixed grain, slow cook, porridge, cake and egg. This smart rice cooker senses the moisture in the rice and adjusts the temperature and cooking time for perfect rice. It features a large LED display for easy programming and a Keep Warm, Reheat and Timer Delay button. Accessories include a measuring cup, spatula and soup ladle.
With 7 pre-set programs and customizable options, the Ninja CREAMi Ice Cream Maker will help you whip up gelato, milkshakes, smoothies and more, all with your favorite nuts, candy and fruit to personalize your treat. It also comes with 2 pint pots with lids.
Leave your spring cleaning to your digital assistant. The Shark Matrix Robot Vacuum features precision home mapping, powerful suction that makes it great for households with pets, and hands-free cleaning thanks to its Alexa/Google Assistant support.
If you want a grill that can do it all, this all in one grill and smoker is a fantastic choice from Ninja. It features a built-in thermometer and is weather-resistant. It's the perfect option if you don't have the space for a standing grill.
The Blue Signature is Blueair's new line of stylish and highly functional air purifiers. This large unit can clean rooms of up to 3,385 sq ft. In our Blueair Blue Signature review, we said the Editor's Choice air purifier is stylish, but also performs well thanks to Blueair’s unique four-stage odor reducing system combined with electrostatic and HEPA filtering. Note: Click the on-page digital coupon to get this price.
TVs
TV sale: deals from $69 @ Amazon
Amazon has smart TVs on sale for as low as $69. Keep in mind, the cheap TVs tend to be smaller, 1080p models (which are more suitable for a children's room or guest room). However, the sale also includes larger sets. These are among the cheapest TVs we've seen from Amazon. By comparison, Best Buy is offering a similar sale with prices from $69.

Between the Native 144Hz, HDR10+ support, Dolby Vision IQ, Dolby Atmos, and Amazon's stellar Fire TV OS, you have everything you need for a great entertainment experience.
Sony's Bravia 2 II (read as "mark two") launched this year, offering budget pricing on a serious LED screen. While it may not boast sophisticated display technology, it does come equipped with special PS5 features that enhance visuals for gaming, and it's kitted with Google TV, so you have access to all your favorite content, plus tons of free channels.
The QM6K is a quantum dot-enhanced Mini-LED TV that has a lot going for it. It's bright enough to stand up in sunny rooms, comes with Google TV baked right in and delivers nearly every gaming-related feature a console gamer could ask for in 2025.

You get a roomy 15.6-inch display, 10 hours of battery life and plenty of ports. We also like its comfortable keyboard, and its Intel Core i3 processor is enough to handle everyday tasks. The webcam and speakers aren't great, but that's not too bad for the price.
