Top mattress brand, Simba, has announced a new partnership with Benson for Beds to introduce its mattresses onto the high street. While some Simba mattresses have been available to try in selected John Lewis stores, the majority of the beds have previously only been available online.
Despite the majority of our top picks in our best mattress of the year guide are online-only brands, being able to try a bed before you commit to buying it can make the purchasing process smoother. It means you’ll be able to test aspects of the bed like the firmness, edge support and motion isolation to check if it's the right fit for your sleep style.
We’re excited to see this expansion of Simba, a brand we rate highly for mattresses like the original ‘perfect’ mattress, the Simba Hybrid, and the more luxury Earth Escape mattress. Here’s what to expect from this new Benson for Beds partnership.
Simba announce new partnership with Benson for Beds
Benson for Beds is Britain’s largest bed retailer, with 175 stores across the UK. The store already stocks big names in the mattress world like Eve and Tempur-Pedic, making Simba a welcome addition.
“Adding Simba to our brand collection is part of our wider strategy to house well-known brands at affordable prices, and we’re thrilled to welcome them into the Bensons family,” Mark Slater, CCO at Bensons for Beds, said.
Initially, Benson for Beds will stock Simba’s Hybrid® mattress range as well as exclusively launching the Earth range in selected stores.
“We’re delighted to bring our products to physical stores through this exclusive partnership with Bensons,” Steve Reid, CEO at Simba, says.

“Their reputation and reach on the high street make them the ideal partner to help us connect with more people. We’re especially pleased to be offering our new Earth range in store for the first time.”
While buying a mattress online has been made practical and simple in recent years with Simba offering free next day delivery and a 200-night trial so you can adjust to the mattress and see if it’s the right pick for you, there’s no denying that being able to lie on a mattress before you buy is useful, and often a preference for many shoppers.
Which mattresses will be in store?
As mentioned, the Hybrid® mattress range will be available in 20 stores around the UK, including Oldham and Doncaster. This range includes the:
- Simba Hybrid Essential mattress
- Simba Hybrid mattress
- Simba Hybrid Pro mattress
- Simba Hybrid Luxe mattress
- Simba Hybrid Ultra mattress
When we reviewed the Simba Hybrid mattress, we found it excelled in comfort for side sleepers, whereas when we tested the Simba Hybrid Luxe, we found it to be firm enough for back and stomach sleepers.
But it was the Simba Hybrid Ultra that blew us away, receiving 5 stars in our review. So, there’s a mattress to suit every kind of sleeper in this range, which is why it’ll be useful to try each and see which is best suited to your sleep.
Of these 20 stores, just 5 will stock the Earth Range. This is the brand’s natural mattress range, boasting materials like Hampshire wool, which includes the:
- Simba Earth Source mattress
- Simba Earth Escape mattress
- Simba Earth Apex mattress
So far, we’ve only reviewed the Simba Earth Escape mattress from this range. When we tested it, we found the support to be superb, but did note some side sleepers might find it too firm. For this reason, a try-before-you-buy situation might be better than an exclusively online experience.
