NBC's Peacock is one of the best-value streaming services available right now – and it's a must-have if you're planning on watching Super Bowl LX. However, it's only available in the US. If you're a subscriber and you're abroad right now, you won't be able to watch anything on NBC's streaming service.
Unless, that is, you use a reliable Peacock VPN. By virtually changing your location back to the US, you can fool Peacock into thinking you're back at home. This means you'll be able to watch everything pay for, wherever you are.
I've done the hands-on testing, and on this page I've rounded up the best VPNs that were able to access Peacock. They're all fast, reliable, and great for streaming other streaming services like Netflix, BBC iPlayer, Disney Plus, and more, too.
The best Peacock VPNs at a glance
1. NordVPN – the biggest name is super secure
NordVPN is likely a name you've heard, and it's a very effective Peacock VPN that really focuses on security. With great encryption plus excellent streaming unblocking and speeds, it's earned its place on this list – and it's great value as well.
Prices start at $3.39 per month, and there's a 30-day money-back guarantee.
2. ExpressVPN – the best Peacock VPN for beginners
If you're looking for a super simple Peacock VPN that makes getting connected a breeze, ExpressVPN is the best choice. It's fast, reliably unblocks Peacock, and higher subscription tiers come with tons of extra personal privacy tools.
Prices start at $2.44 per month, and again, there's a 30-day money-back guarantee.
3. Surfshark – the best-value VPN on the market
If you want to save a bit of cash, then Surfshark is the best-value option. At just $1.99 a month, it's an absolute bargain, but performs like a premium-priced product. You'll also get unlimited connections so you can use it on as many devices as you want.
Once again, there's a 30-day refund period, and Surfshark also offers a 7-day free trial.
What makes the best Peacock VPN?
Why you can trust Tom's Guide
If your main priority is watching all the free content on Peacock, you’re going to want a fast, simple Peacock VPN that can actually access the service. You'll want a provider with a good amount of US servers too, to make sure there's a range to pick from.
Overall, we'd recommend NordVPN, which has a long track record of not only being able to reliably access pretty much any geo-restricted streaming media, but also excellent usability and privacy, too.
However, there are a few different options for different tastes, so scroll on below to see the five best Peacock VPNs available today.
The best Peacock VPNs available today
1. NordVPN
My top VPN overall is perfect for unblocking Peacock around the world
Unblocks Peacock: Yes | Other services unblocked: Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, BBC iPlayer, YouTube, Hulu | Streaming devices: Android, iOS, Amazon Fire, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, PlayStation, Xbox | 24/7 customer suppoort: Yes | Simultaneous connections: 10
NordVPN is probably the most famous VPN provider around, and it's certainly earned its place. With a great balance of privacy and speed, it's one of the most reliable VPNs around for a lot of tasks – and its place at the top of my guide to the best VPNs is testament to that.
In my testing, I've found that NordVPN's very effective for unblocking Peacock, and the desktop apps make it simple to do so. All you need to do is pick a country (in this case, the US) and connect. Head over to the Peacock site and there you go – instant access. The apps for smart TVs and devices like Fire Sticks and Apple TV are just as effective.
It's worth noting that a couple of other VPNs – notably ExpressVPN – do have much simpler apps. If you're a real newbie to VPNs or just want the simplest experience possible, ExpressVPN may be a better choice.
For other uses, NordVPN has servers in 129 countries globally, which is the highest of any VPN that I'd recommend using. So, wherever you want to appear to be, Nord can make that happen. That's especially useful for other services like Netflix and iPlayer.
NordVPN has an excellent live chat support team who I've found respond promptly and helpfully. The written troubleshooting articles are decent, but I think a few of them could be made easier to understand, while others need to be made more comprehensive.
On the whole, NordVPN is a very reliable and effective Peacock VPN that should have no trouble getting you access both now and in the future – and if anything does go wrong, you've got a 30-day money-back guarantee protecting you.
The best Peacock VPN for beginners
2. ExpressVPN
Super simple to use, and reliable for unblocking Peacock
Unblocks Peacock: Yes | Other services unblocked: Netflix, BBC iPlayer, YouTube, Hulu | Streaming devices: Android, iOS, Amazon Fire, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, PlayStation, Xbox | 24/7 customer suppoort: Yes | Simultaneous connections: 10-14
ExpressVPN is the VPN to go for if you're new to VPNs, and want super secure access to Peacock with a minimum of fuss. The apps are very intuitive, and if you don't need to alter any settings, you can just tap the big on-off button and forget about it.
In my testing, ExpressVPN could unblock most streaming services – Peacock included. That means you can not only watch the Super Bowl from anywhere, but also tap into global libraries from Netflix, as well regional sites like BBC iPlayer. However, I did have an issue accessing Amazon Prime Video – so if you're a subscriber, consider NordVPN instead.
In terms of day-to-day usage, ExpressVPN is probably the simplest VPN I've tested. Setup is very easy on all devices, including streaming boxes like Fire TV and Apple TV. This is great if you want to get up and running as swiftly as possible. For more advanced users, ExpressVPN also offers the Aircove router, which has the apps built in, and covers as many devices as you want to connect to the network.
If you're an expert, you may find ExpressVPN a little restrictive. The focus on simplicity means that everything is pretty plug-and-play. Consequently, there's not a lot of deep setting to fiddle around with. Perfect if you're not interested in them. Disappointing if you are.
In recent months, ExpressVPN has dropped its prices a number of times, now regularly available for less than $3 per month. This is excellent, and considering the extras you get on higher tiers of subscription – personal data removal and a credit scanner are two biggies – it's excellent value.
The best cheap Peacock VPN
3. Surfshark
Great value Peacock VPN from the same parent company as NordVPN
Unblocks Peacock: Yes | Other services unblocked: Netflix, BBC iPlayer, YouTube, Hulu | Streaming devices: Android, iOS, Amazon Fire, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, PlayStation, Xbox | 24/7 customer suppoort: Yes | Simultaneous connections: Unlimited
Bargain Peacock VPN provider Surfshark isn't shy about boasting about its streaming credentials, and it's easy to see why.
As one of the top streaming VPNs it's no surprise it can access Peacock with no fuss – you'll also be able to get into much tougher services like Netflix and iPlayer, too. And, seeing as it's based a lot of its marketing around this streaming power, there's a lot riding on keeping it reliable (which I've always found to be the case).
However, one of the biggest benefits of Surfshark is simply the price – for less than $2 per month you'll get a properly fully-featured VPN alongside some nifty extras. Plus, you'll also get unlimited simultaneous connections, which means you really can cover every device in your house, even if – for some reason – you've got a dozen iPhones knocking around.
If you're looking for a bargain way of accessing Peacock, Surfshark is an excellent choice, and although it hasn't got the in-depth configuration of NordVPN, that trade-off might be worth it if you don't want to spend the money to get the very best.
With a 30-day money-back guarantee you'll be able to test-drive the service for a month without risk, but as a Peacock VPN (and pretty much everything else streaming-related) Surfshark is unbeatable value.
Affordable, but rough around the edges
4. CyberGhost
Great for streaming Peacock – and everything else
Unblocks Peacock: Yes | Other services unblocked: Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, BBC iPlayer, YouTube, Hulu | Streaming devices: Android, iOS, Amazon Fire, Apple TV, Roku, PlayStation, Xbox | 24/7 customer suppoort: Yes | Simultaneous connections: 7
CyberGhost is a secure, cheap VPN that is remarkably good at streaming, so one to consider if you're after a VPN for Peacock. It's based in Romania and owned by Kape Technologies, which also owns ExpressVPN and Private Internet Access (PIA).
Streaming is what CyberGhost excels at. It offers streaming-optimized servers which it says brings "minimal buffering and blazing-fast speeds." In my streaming testing, CyberGhost performed incredibly well. It unblocked all US streaming services, including Peacock, Netflix, and Disney+, first time. It didn't fail to unblock any service, but we had to switch servers to unblock BBC iPlayer and 10Play.
Its server network stands at over 11,000, covering 124 locations in 100 countries. This includes 11 US locations so you shouldn't have trouble finding a server to stream Peacock. Speeds peaked at 674 Mbps in our testing. This doesn't put CyberGhost amongst the fastest VPNs but it's more than enough to stream and browse with no buffering – as long as you have Wi-Fi that can keep up.
CyberGhost keeps its apps simple and easy-to-use. It supports up to seven device connections. This should be enough for individual use, but falls short of the commonly offered 10 and the unlimited device policy of Surfshark and PIA. Both its mobile and desktop VPN apps are served by a large on/off button. This makes CyberGhost's servers very easy to connect to, especially for VPN beginners. If you value UI design, intuitive apps, and a degree of customization, CyberGhost isn't for you. It's fairly basic and does what it says on the tin.
Price is another big plus point for CyberGhost. A 28 month plan costs $2.03 per month ($56.94 upfront) and comes with an above average 45-day money-back guarantee. Only Surfshark and PrivadoVPN cost less per month, so if you're after a quality streaming VPN at a bargain price, CyberGhost is well worth checking out.
CyberGhost has a strict no-logs policy and your data is secured by AES-256 encryption. It passed no-logs audits in 2022 and 2024, and we'd like to see another audit soon. A kill switch is only present on its Windows app, which is disappointing. A kill switch cuts your internet connection in the event your VPN fails, protecting your data from being leaked to spying third-parties. Big VPN names have kill switches on most or all their major apps, so we'd like to see CyberGhost match this.
Overall, CyberGhost is a simple but powerful VPN that's great for streaming and costs very little. This makes it a very respectable Peacock VPN choice.
Cheap, cheerful, and very easy to use
5. PrivadoVPN
Incredibly cheap and great for streaming – but don't expect any bell and whistles
Unblocks Peacock: Yes | 24/7 customer suppoort: Yes | Simultaneous connections: 10
PrivadoVPN is a great option if you're looking for a Peacock VPN that won't break the bank. With prices starting at just $1.11 per month for a two-year subscription ($30 upfront for 27 months' coverage), it's even cheaper than Surfshark.
It offers great speeds, too. In our testing, it achieved peak speeds of 956 Mbps while using the WireGuard encryption protocol. While this isn't quite as fast as some of its competitors which offer speeds of over 1,000 Mbps, it still should be more than fast enough for you to stream content using PrivadoVPN without slowing down your connection speed.
With this being said, you should avoid using the OpenVPN encryption protocol, when you're streaming content. In our latest round of testing, PrivadoVPN's speeds reach peaks of just 134 Mbps. While speeds of just 25 Mbps are needed to stream video in 4K, you may still experience some buffering or slower connection speeds if you use OpenVPN while trying to access Peacock when using PrivadoVPN.
If you're looking to access other streaming platforms besides Peacock, PrivadoVPN's performance is pretty good, although not quite as good as some other VPNs. It was able to unblock Netflix in the UK, US, Canada, Australia and Japan, as well as being able to unblock region-specific streaming platforms including ITV, Channel 4, 7plus, 9Now and 10 Play.
However, this does not mean that you can access every streaming service using PrivadoVPN. During our testing, it was unable to unblock Amazon Prime in all countries we tested, and couldn't unblock Disney+ in any country we tested except for Canada. If you're looking for a VPN that can access these platforms, you should consider going for Surfshark or NordVPN.
If you're looking for a free Peacock VPN, however, PrivadoVPN's free tier is a decent choice as one of the best free VPNs around. Unlike many free VPNs, PrivadoVPN Free supports streaming. However you should note that your server choice and platforms you can access are limited. There's also a 10 GB data limit, which means that you won't be able to stream unlimited content.
Peacock VPN FAQ
Why do I need a Peacock VPN?
While Peacock offers a huge amount of content, it's only available in the US – if you're in Europe, Asia, or anywhere else, you won't be able to access it without a VPN.
Considering Peacock's low price, it's definitely worth investing in even a cheap VPN to get access to it. Plus, once you've got your VPN, you'll be able to access the world's Netflix catalogues as well as BBC iPlayer, Hulu, and tons more (if your chosen VPN is up to task).
On top of that, you'll also have a fully-fledged privacy solution that you'll be able to use to protect your devices both at home and when you're out and about using public Wi-Fi.
As a package, we think that's great value for money – especially if you're only spending a few dollars a month.
Is it legal to use a VPN for Peacock?
While it's not illegal to access Peacock with a VPN, it does appear to be against the streaming service's terms of use:
"You may not disable, remove or otherwise circumvent through any means … any digital rights management, content protection or access control measure associated with the Peacock Services... You may not use any technology, software, or services in connection with the Peacock Services that are intended or function to … obscure or disguise your location when you are accessing the Peacock Services."
So, the choice to use a Peacock VPN is up to you. However, the only issue we've ever heard users having is being unable to access content when using a VPN, and there's been no news of accounts being terminated – if you're able to watch anything when using a VPN, that means that Peacock can't detect it.
