I bought my stepmom the Apple Watch SE — and it's just dropped to $169 during Amazon Prime Day sales

Grab the Apple Watch SE (2nd gen) for over 30% off right now, and for a limited time while stocks last. It's not the latest model from the SE range, but it is the OG, and it provides some cool features you'll want to have on your wrist.

I'm always dubious of Amazon Prime Day sales and whether or not something is actually a good deal, which is why my job has allowed me to sharpen my journalistic deal-hunting tools over the years. And I believe this is a great deal worth snapping up.

At the moment, you can get the watch for less with this cool deal on Amazon. The Apple Watch SE (2nd gen) is just $169, down from $249. Here's how to pick up the deal while it is still available.

The SE (2nd gen) offers the essentials, allowing you to stay safe and track your health metrics. Features like Fall Detection, Emergency SOS and Crash Detection are a hit, alongside 50 meters of water resistance, enhanced workout features, and the ability to call, text and receive notifications. Overall, this is a great deal that covers all the basics.

Despite the Apple Watch SE 3's release this year, I still think the Apple Watch SE (2nd gen) is worth your money, as it comes from a more affordable yet solid SE range that my wearables expert colleague, Dan, still recommends to most people. But why?

The Apple Watch SE (2022) is one of the best smartwatches on the market, offering many useful Apple Watch features at a price that doesn't bankrupt you before the holidays even begin. It's considered the perfect gateway smartwatch if you're not yet ready to commit to the SE 3 or other Apple Watch options like the Ultra range.

Aside from the price, there are some noteworthy features, including design. You can choose from a 40mm or 44mm size (deals vary), and the watch looks sleek with various color bands available upon checkout.

Apple's safety tools include Emergency SOS and Fall Detection, plus call, text, and notification connectivity, which should help you stay safe when you're out and about, thanks to its support for watchOS 26, which debuted with the newer models.

It reliably monitors heart rate (and can detect irregular heart rhythm), tracks your sleep and keeps tabs on your daily activity. You can listen to music and podcasts, use Siri, and even automatically notify friends and family when you arrive at your destination with Check In.

The Apple Watch SE (2nd gen) offers 50 meters of water resistance if you like to swim, and you'll get three months of Apple Fitness+ free.
