Your iPhone 11 Pro Max and Apple Watch Series 3 are now considered 'Vintage' by Apple

The iPhone 11 Pro Max and the Apple Watch Series 3 join the list of Apple's vintage products list this week, as Apple stops making those devices available for sale at any outlet.

Interestingly, the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro — which also came out in 2019 along with the Pro Max — are not on the list. Apple could still be distributing both phones to third-party resellers and supporting some repairs.

And while the iPhone 11 Pro Max may now be considered Vintage by Apple, all models in the iPhone 11 series remain compatible with iOS 26, which came out last month. That said, the iPhone 11 models are the oldest iPhones supported by the current update.

Every model of the Apple Watch Series 3 is now considered vintage. After launching in 2017, the Series 3 lasted for five years, until Apple dropped support with watchOS 9's release in 2022. Surprisingly, the Series 3 had such a long run that the Apple Watch Series 4 made the vintage list before it.

Both devices join a slew of Apple products that were made vintage right before the iPhone 17 Awe Dropping event. The iPhone 8 Plus joined the list alongside the 2015 11-inch MacBook Air, and the 2017 13- and 15-inch MacBook Pro models.

Vintage upgrades

As a reminder, Apple adds devices to its vintage list once it has stopped distributing them for sale. Vintage devices can still be repaired by Apple and Apple Authorized Service Providers, as long as parts are available.

Obsolete products, on the other hand, stopped being for sale more than seven years ago. These devices are completely discontinued and Apple won't provide parts for repair on obsolete tech, save Mac laptops which are eligible for battery-only repair up to 10 years after they're no longer distributed.

How about an upgrade?

If you're still rocking an iPhone 11 Pro Max or Apple Watch Series 3 now might be the time to upgrade. The iPhone 17 series now represents Apple's phone linuep; along with the standard model, you'll find the iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 17 Air now available.

This year, Apple released three new watches including the budget-friendly Apple Watch SE 3, Apple Watch Series 11, and the high-end Apple Watch Ultra 3. So you have choices.
