We're once again experiencing a brutal heatwave but while in my part of the country temperatures are expected to reach triple digits, I'm not too concerned — I'm fortunate to have the Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid, now $400 off in the Saatva 4th of July sale, a mattress that wicks away heat so I can sleep cool. Yes, even in a heatwave.

We look for good temperature regulation in all the best mattresses we've tested and the breathable design was a highlight of my Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid Mattress review, especially since I had a bout of night sweats. It's a feature that's coming in clutch again, as I now have to contend with Mother Nature's rapidly rising thermostat.

The 4th of July mattress sales are nearly over so if you're eyeing a new bed while sitting directly in front of the air con, here's why I highly recommend this entry-level Saatva hybrid mattress.

Save $400
Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid Mattress (twin): was $1,399 now $999 at Saatva

The Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid comes in a medium firmness that we recommend to back sleepers looking for good support. You won't feel enveloped by the bed but that works to your advantage if you don't want to sweat at night, as it gives heat more chance to escape. After $400 off, a queen-size is on sale for $1,749 (was $2,149). It comes with a lifetime warranty, a one-year trial, and free white glove delivery with removal of your old mattress included, if necessary.

How the Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid Mattress helped me cool off at night

At the time I received my Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid Mattress to test, I was dealing with a spell of night sweats and a surprise heatwave. This double-whammy of hotness presented me the ideal opportunity to evaluate just how well this hybrid mattress could regulate temperature.

The Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid is built to breathe with a base of individually-wrapped coils, an organic cotton cover, and a layer of waved AirCradle foam. Lying on the mattress without bedding, I didn't feel any noticeable heat buildup — and dressing it with bamboo sheets and a lightweight quilt didn't impede that breathability in the slightest.

The lack of profound sinkage also helped, as I didn't feel embedded in the mattress (pun intended), allowing air to pass through more easily. However, this was a detriment to side sleeping, as I would have liked more give for my joints. (Take a look at our guide to the best mattresses for side sleepers if that's what you need.)

For most people, the Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid Mattress will sleep comfortably enough amidst high nighttime temperatures. But if your night sweats are severe and you need that cool-to-touch sensation to help soothe you to sleep, I'd sooner recommend a dedicated cooling mattress.

This organic mattress adds a layer of natural latex — a porous material that's known for its breathability. The latex layer has five ergonomic zones for targeted relief and support, catering to sleepers with various aches and pains. A blend of organic wool and cotton in the top cover adds a cozy touch. After $400 off, a queen-size Saatva Latex Hybrid falls to $2,249 (was $2,649).
