We've tested a lot of mid-range mattresses (typically, they cost under $1,000 for a queen) and the cream of the crop according to our testing is the DreamCloud Classic, down to $799 (was $899) for a king size at Amazon.

This 12" Luxury gel memory foam hybrid mattress impressed all of our team in our most recent full retesting (completed last October), and scored a full 5/5 star rating for sheer value for money.

Amazon usually has good deals on the DreamCloud Classic, and right now the biggest price drop is on the king size. $799 for a king mattress of this quality is excellent value. You get the same year's sleep trial and forever warranty when buying through Amazon as you do at DreamCloud. However Amazon's deal does not include the $599 of free bedding that you get at DreamCloud, where a king size DreamCloud Classic is down to $899 (see below) with this early Presidents Day mattress deal.

Right now, a twin is $399 and a queen is $899. For $100 more at DreamCloud, you'll also get a free bedding bundle that includes a sheets set, two cooling pillows, and a mattress protector, together worth $599. So choose the Amazon deal if you want the cheapest price possible on a king size DreamCloud Classic, and choose the DreamCloud mattress sale offer if you want to save up to 60% and get free bedding on any other size.

Why the DreamCloud is still our top value pick

1. It offers good pressure relief

DreamCloud rates this as an extra firm mattress, and after sleeping on it oursleves we did find that it was on the firmer side; we rated it with a 6.5 out of 10 for firmness.

However, we did find that it offered a good amount of pressure relief. In fact, in our testing, it received a near-perfect score in this area.

If pressure relief is important to you when buying a mattress, we would also recommend the Saatva Classic priced $1,779 for a queen at Saatva (from $2,179) and the Bear Elite Hyrbid priced $1,485 for a queen at Bear.

2. It absorbs heat quickly

If you're a hot sleeper like me, then a cooling mattress could be just the trick. When we tested the cooling properties of this mattress, we found that it did take longer than other mattresses in our top 5 to dispel heat.

However, its performance in this test was still pretty good for mattresses in this price bracket.

3. Strong edge support means you can really spread out

Good edge support means you can lie or sit near the edge of the bed without feeling like you're going to fall out. This is also important for those with mobility issues that need extra support when getting in or out of the bed.

Our tester used a 50lb weight to test on the edges of the mattress. She says, "I recorded a 3" sink, a quarter of an inch less than it was at the center. This demonstrates consistent support throughout and bodes well for durability."

The Siena Signature earned four out of five stars in our review, thanks to its supportive feel, ability to regulate temperature, and budget-friendly price tag. Right now, a queen is down to $299. While this isn't the lowest price we've seen, it was $244 on Black Friday. This still beats the price of $359 if you buy from Siena directly. However, when you purchase from Amazon, you'll still get the 180-night sleep trial and ten-year limited warranty.
