GTA 6 is on track for its November release date — but we might be waiting a while for the next trailer

It speaks to the intense anticipation surrounding all things Grand Theft Auto VI that a recent financial earnings announcement was treated with the same intense fervor as an E3 press conference. GTA 6 mania is real, even if we still know relatively little about the upcoming open-world game.

Predictions of a new GTA 6 trailer this week were wide of the mark (though this speculation always seemed a little fanciful). However, during an earnings call, Take-Two, the parent company of GTA developer Rockstar Games, dropped a few morsels of information that give us additional insight into the state of the game ahead of its November 19 release date.

Most importantly, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick noted that GTA 6’s marketing campaign is “set to begin this summer” in a follow-up comment given to IGN. The CEO also said that he feels “good” regarding the game's release date: “Any time you're getting closer to marketing beats, you're obviously in a place where your confidence level is as high as it can be.”

Typically, the timing of an upcoming game’s marketing campaign would be of little interest to everyday players, but with GTA 6, even the smallest updates are significant. Most promising about this vague “summer” date is that it suggests a high degree of confidence that the November 19 release date will stick. GTA 6 has already been delayed twice. First, from a loose “fall 2025” window, and then it was shifted from a hard date of May 26, 2026.

Assuming no further delays, GTA 6 is guaranteed to be not just the biggest video game of 2026, but one of the largest entertainment launches ever.

The downside of this update is the suggestion that we might be several months away from the next GTA 6 trailer, and in particular, getting our first look at actual gameplay. If the game’s marketing blitz begins in the summer, we could be waiting until then before we get our next proper look at the game. But here’s hoping the third GTA 6 trailer drops a bit sooner.

Assuming no further delays, GTA 6 is guaranteed to be not just the biggest video game of 2026, but one of the largest entertainment launches ever. Despite GTA 6 being set to launch in just 10 months, there’s still so much we don’t know about the game. We do know it’ll feature two playable protagonists, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, and it will be set in Vice City, the GTA franchise’s sun-soaked satirical spin on Miami, Florida.

In the meantime, even with GTA 6 on the way, its predecessor, GTA 5, is showing no signs of slowing down. The game sold a further five million copies in the last quarter, bringing its sales to a staggering 225 million. Plus, the popular GTA Online continues to receive regular updates, ensuring that GTA fans aren’t starved of new content to pass the time till November.
