We're into the second day of Amazon's October Prime Day sales event, and while we've been working hard to find streaming deals, we have to admit: there aren't many.

Sure, there are tons of Prime Day TV deals to consider, but anyone looking for discounts on all the best streaming services (unless you want to lock in a major Hulu + Live TV promo discount). However, there is a free trial out there right now that just got a serious upgrade, and it's better than any Prime Day streaming deal we've seen.

I'm talking about Philo. Now, while I like Philo, it typically isn't one of my top picks for the best live TV streaming service. The price is great, even after increasing to $33/month, but the channel selection can leave something to be desired. However, that price hike came with a serious upgrade: HBO Max is now included with Philo, and you can try them both right now, for free, for seven days.

Yes, right now, not only can you try out Philo for free, but you can try out HBO Max (with ads) as well for an entire week as part of your Philo free trial, without paying a dime. You can't even get that deal directly from HBO, and it's better than any Prime Day streaming deal I've seen so far.

Now with HBO Max! If you're looking for a way to cut the cord for less, then Philo is an option worth considering, especially now that it includes an HBO Max (with ads) subscription. Try it out now for seven days, absolutely free.

I'll be honest, at the end of your seven days, you might not keep Philo. It's not as robust a live TV streaming service as YouTube TV or even Sling. Yes, you get 70+ channels, including AMC, Comedy Central, and MTV, but you don't get much in the way of news and live sports.

However, if you don't need news or you're not a sports fan, you simply can't find Philo's network selection for less, especially when you throw in AMC Plus, Shudder, and HBO Max (our favorite streaming service).

And even if it lacks popular channels, Philo still doesn't lack popular features. Philo is available on almost all of the best streaming devices, though it's notably not available on game consoles. You also get three simultaneous streams on up to 3 devices simultaneously and unlimited cloud DVR, which is on par with the best cable alternatives. I genuinely enjoyed my experience with Philo in my Philo review; I just ultimately found its channel selection a notable shortcoming.

So forget Amazon's Prime Day deals, because Philo's free trial might be the best streaming deal you can get this week, and you don't even need a Prime membership to get it.

At the very least, if you're on the fence about HBO Max, this is an easy way to see whether you're interested in watching what the Warner Bros. Discovery streamer has to offer. Trust me: getting the chance to sample some of the best HBO Max shows (like "Peacemaker," "The Penguin," "House of the Dragon") for free is worth it.
