May is already off to a very good start when it comes to streaming, thanks to the bounty of new TV shows premiering on Netflix, Prime Video and more of the best streaming services, as well as broadcast and cable TV.

This week’s lineup has something for everyone. Want spy intrigue? Check out "Citadel" season 2" and "Legends." Have a taste for period stories? "The Other Bennet Sister" and "Amadeus" will be right up your alley. If you're craving thrills and horror, "The Terror" and "Lord of the Flies" will keep you up at night.

The vibes: “Adolescence” but times a dozen and on a deserted island with no adults.

The plot: Based on William Golding’s seminal novel, this miniseries strands a group of British schoolboys on a remote island after a deadly crash and then watches them turn feral in real time. e. Early attempts at order, led by Ralph and his brainy ally Piggy, fracture into rival factions. Before long, civilization feels like a very distant memory.

The plot: Three years, a couple of abandoned spinoffs and one very expensive first season later, “Citadel reloads.” Mason (Richard Madden), Nadia (Priyanka Chopra Jonas) and Bernard (Stanley Tucci) are dragged back into the espionage game thanks to Manticore’s latest mess. The fix? Jet off (again), recruit a fresh batch of questionable operatives, and untangle a conspiracy with world-dominating ambitions.

The plot: This “Pride and Prejudice” remix hands the mic to Mary Bennet (Ella Bruccoleri), the chronically overlooked sister whose chief crime is not being dazzling. The opening episodes replay familiar territory from her sidelined perspective before sending Mary beyond Meryton. As she escapes her sisters’ shadows, Mary begins to carve out an identity that isn’t defined by the marriage market — though romance, naturally, still finds a way in.
